Quick question. PFS related. Thanks in advance.

Would using an cracked opalescent white pyramid ioun stone to get proficiency with the aldori dueling sword be enough to qualify for the below feat.

Aldori Dueling Mastery

Prerequisites: Weapon Proficiency (dueling sword), Quick Draw, Weapon Finesse, Weapon Focus (dueling sword).

Benefit: You gain a +2 bonus on Initiative checks as long as you start combat with a dueling sword in your hand. As long as you wield only a single dueling sword in one hand, you gain a +2 shield bonus to your AC—if you wield the sword in two hands, this bonus drops to a +1 shield bonus to AC.

Although the dueling sword inflicts slashing damage, you treat it as if it were also a piercing weapon when determining the effects of weapons used by a duelist.

I have several characters for PFS and a few more blobs of GM credit. I am using one of those blobs to make a spellcaster who casts all of her spells by simply staring at people.

I could simply go with a deaf oracle to get silent spell for free. There is also the birthmark trait so she could ignore the need of a divine focus. My question is what can I do to keep casting time down? Should I multiclass sorcerer to get eschew material? I'll need to also get still spell if this is going to work. Are there any other feats that would help getting any metamagic cost down?

Thanks for any help.

I have a character I have been playing and now I worry I may not have been doing so correctly. I am playing with a lot of people who are also relatively new to Pathfinder. So we're trying to learn the rules together.

I have a Oracle of Nature who then went into levels of Sylvan Sorcerer. If I have Bonded Mount then will it stack with the animal companion levels of Sylvan Sorcerer. I have been playing like they do, but now I am concerned I have been doing that wrong all along. Any help would be appreciated.

Here is another straightforward, probably silly, question about the spell Bless Weapon. Does it work on natural weapons and unarmed strikes? Spells like Magic Weapon and Align Weapon specifically say that they do not work on natural attacks. So does this omission mean that the spell Bless Weapon will work with them?

Thanks for any help. My searching on the boards hasn't found an answer for me.

I have a quick and simple question. Can a badger animal companion take extra rage if it has an intelligence of at least three?

Hello you brilliant advice dispensing minds.

I am at work constructing my latest PFS character, because I gather up GM credit rather quickly in my area. I figure that since I tend to end up earning a small herd of GM characters then I should just go crazy with one.

I am looking to have a character who specializes int he double crossbow. Why? Just because it's weird and a bit silly and those are both positives for me. The feat intensive nature of making it a viable weapon means fighter is really my only reasonable option for class.

Crossbow Mastery is really a must; which in turn requires a litany of other feats. So I am locked in there at low level. The thing is the Crossbowman archetype doesn't look all that interesting to me. I was considering going with the Cad fighter Archetype instead. It gives me access to skills that I would be interested in having as a Dex based character. Also it would be fun to hit someone across the face with the actual crossbow.

What do you folks think? Does taking Cad make an already weird build just more annoying to my fellow players? What other feats should I pick up?

Feat Selection (Human Character

1st Point Blank Shot, Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Double Crossbow), Precise Shot
2nd Rapid reload (Double Crossbow)
3rd Rapid Shot (Essentially a junk feat but necessary)
4th Crossbow Mastery

Hello all. I apologize well in advance of what is probably not the smartest question ever asked. What exactly am I receiving for my $35poor donation to the Kickstarter. The more places I read; the more I get confused by the matter.

Lantern Lodge

I recently ran an adventure that involved the PCs fighting a black pudding. Black Puddings have the extraordinary ability of split. Split occurs if they are hit by a slashing or piercing weapon. The single pudding is divided into two identical puddings with half as many hit points as the original. Being that the base black pudding in the Bestiary is huge does this mean every split produces a new, huge pudding? We had some debate about this during the game and ended up with the pudding getting smaller and smaller with each split.

I don't know if anyone else has dealt with this, but I am hoping to get some help. How do you deal with a player that you are 99.9% certain is avoiding learning about rules to get away with playing illegal options? For example in Pathfinder Society you don't get any of the penalty or bonuses for playing a character that is venerable. Yet they will come to a table with a character with those penalty or bonuses. I explain it to them and they begrudgingly change the character. Then the next week they are playing a synthesist and I have to explain the rules again. It goes on like this for several sessions.

I can't prove it of course, because I can't see what they have and have not read. It just happens to often that I feel they must be avoiding reading things that don't allow them to play what they want. This way they have plausible deniability when someone points it out to them. I admit it is becoming tiresome.

I was running a game tonight and one of the players was a summoner. The eidolon was attacked by a ghoul and failed its fortitude save against Ghoul Fever. The rest of the full attack knocked the eidolon to zero and sent it back to its' home plane. Now we are all feeling pretty confused.
Is the eidolon diseased when it's summoned again? Can it even be diseased in the first place? Thanks for the help.

We are having something of a small disagreement in our ground. I am sure most of you have heard this before. There are those in our group that want to buy mithral breastplates. Breasplates normally have an armor check penalty of -4, but mithral would reduce that by 3. In the description of price it says that mithral is always considered masterwork and the price is included. So does that mean there isn't an additional reduction of 1 to the armor check penalty to get it down to zero for a breastplate? Trying to answer to this question has caused some debate in our group. Thanks for any help.

Hello everyone.

I'm trying to form the shapeless blob of my DM credit character into something recognizable. Quick backstory. Mother was an aasimar...father was an orc...not exactly a romance. Still she was raised by her mother and tries to be as good as possible to fight against what she sees as the evil part of her nature. This is what I have been thinking so far. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Half-Orc Oracle of Nature 1/Sylvan Bloodline Sorcerer 4

1st: Blackened Curse; Revelation: Nature's Whisper*; Toughness or improved initiative
2nd: Boar or Badger Companion
3rd: Boon Companion
5th: Arcane Armor Training

Str 9
Dex 12
Con 14
Int 12
Wis 12
Cha 18

My thought that since she can't physically fight herself she has the animal companion to do so. Any suggestions to help fill out the shell would be useful. There are probably a hundred things I could do better, but it has to be PFS legal.

* Nature's Whisper allows the character to use Charisma for AC and CMD in place of dexterity.

During a mod I played recently my gnome oracle bought a yak. Her reason being they were heading somewhere cold and mountain-y and yaks are cool in those kind of places. Now I want to train that animal to be a mount and I have been reading the FAQ. I want to make sure I am understanding the rules correctly; since they are somewhat different than those outside of organized play.

I can teach an animal for a single purpose (riding) as long as I have three ranks in handle animal. (I do because of my oracle's foray into the ways of the gunslinger.) Do I just need to do one check in front of the GM and have that person sign off on my chronicle? Or do I need to do this for several scenarios? I am a little confused about that part of it.

Also later, when I have more ranks in handle animal, could I then upgrade to combat training? Thanks for any help.

My gaming group is going to start the Skulls and Shackle adventure path very soon. I know they are all chomping at the bit to play a PC that is not so nice. So far in the group we will have a blaster wizard, a reasonably heal bot-ish cleric, a fighter, and I am not sure what my other fellow player will be doing. All I know for sure is that he will go out of his way to not be good at any sort of social skill beyond intimidate. He does pretty much everything possible to be poor at social skills.

I figure I should play some type of face character. One that can either lie or flatter in situations where it's too dangerous to try and fight. It would be nice to have some spellcasting and decent martial ability. Of course that immediately screams out bard, but I don't know how I feel about them. They were always better on paper than play to be during the days of 3/3.5 and it's a long adventure path. I want to have fun.

What I do know for sure about my character are these facts. I have DM permission to play a changeling who is passing for a half elf. Her mother is a sea hag to go along with the pirate type theme. I probably plan on taking Mother's Gift as her first feat.

My rambling leads to this question. What kind of class do you folks recommend I should take? Maybe some interesting bard archetype. I honestly don't know right now.

I am relatively new to Pathfinder society, but I have been getting my feet wet by both DMing and playing. I just want to make sure that I am not missing any rules when it comes to multiclassing. I may be mixing up house rules that I've experienced in the past with anything that is actually in PFS.

Is there a minimum to how many levels you can take in a class? For example, could all 12 of your levels be in a different class? (I don't know if that is even possible or why you would want to do so. It's just to get the point across.) Is there a minimum number of levels you have to take in any prestige class?

Just for some background on the question I am playing a deaf gnome oracle. I took the Amateur Gunsliger feat once she hit third level. She is a bookbinder and has a small shop in Absalom. The back story for the feat involves receiving a somewhat battered package at her shop. (Writing on the partially torn package had an FR and then an AGILE. So she has spent some time looking for a Father or Friar Agile.) What she doesn't know is the strange parts and pieces in the box come together to complete a dragon pistol.

At fifth level I plan to take a level of gunslinger with the Mysterious Stranger archetype if possible. She only has a 10 wisdom so she wouldn't have much grit otherwise. My thought is finally at fifth she fits the pieces together and discovers, "Whoa this is some kind of crazy crossbow". She then goes about her merry way being an oracle.

I even thought about taking throw anything so if the gun jams she can freak, throw it at the bad guy, then try to hide. In full disclosure she only has a 12 or 13 dexterity right now. I honestly forget off the top of my head. So this is all more that it will be fun for me. I will have plenty of healing and puffs so the parties I play with don't feel that I am a drain on resources with no usefulness.

Would it be okay to take just one level of gunslingers and not look silly or cheesy or other bad things my fellow gamers approve of?

The oracle of Lore has this as one of the possible mysteries they can take:

Focused Trance (Ex): You can enter a deep meditation, blocking out visual and auditory stimuli and allowing you to concentrate on a single problem, philosophical issue, or memory. This trance lasts 1d6 rounds, during which time you can only take move actions. During this period, you gain a bonus equal to your level on all saves against sonic effects and gaze attacks. When you come out of your trance, you may make a single Intelligence-based skill check with a +20 circumstance bonus. You may enter your focused trance a number of times per day equal to your Charisma modifier.

This is something of a silly question and I do not believe anyone would use it if it was legal. Could an oracle of lore go into a focused trance when they make their official day job roll? It does say that you can use it to make an intelligence based skill check.

My apologies if this has already been answered and I can't find that bit of information.

Hi. I'm a very new DM to Pathfinder Society and only recently ran my first scenario. I am running the First Step trilogy of adventures for a party that is mostly new to PFS play.

I have managed to confuse myself about reporting the first scenario and the other two in this trilogy. I reported the first adventure with each player receiving 1 XP and 2 prestige. Should I have instead reported 1 XP and 1 prestige? Later coming back and adding the second prestige? Or after all three adventures are all done reporting the last one with each player receiving 1 XP and 4 prestige?

I know these series of adventures is supposed to help the players choose a faction. So I do not want to unintentionally lock them into one with their prestige reporting there despite their desire for it to do otherwise.

Any help clearing up the question will be greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone. I have a simple question and one that is probably pretty silly. I was looking at the maps in the scenario? Can they all be found in various map packs or is it just the one called out specifically? Will I be able to find them all in flip mats or other ways? I want to make sure to be as prepared as possible.

Hello. This was my first year playing Pathfinder Society games at a convention. I had only played two mods before and so I consider myself somewhat of a noob. I gathered up my tokens for playing and managed to get boon #8. A couple of the choices offer specialization in a skill. What does that mean exactly? Do I get skill focus for free or some other benefit? I do apologize if it is a silly question. Thanks for any help in advance.

Long-time lurker and very rare poster here to ask a question of the experts. I will be going to Gen Con in just a few weeks and I plan on playing some Pathfinder Society games. I have a single character, a gnome oracle, who is just one mod away from being second level. (It has only taken two years. It is very exciting.) The only problem is that I have no idea what to pick to play. I mean it is limited in what tickets are available, but that is still a very long list.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Lantern Lodge 4/5

Hello all. Occasionally listener. First time poster.

(I apologize if this post is in the wrong place. My track record with avoiding that is not great.)

I recently received the Pathfinder Core Rulebook as a gift and am interested in giving the system at least a try. I know there is the Pathfinder Society and that it is organized play. I was thinking of trying to get into a game at Gen Con, but first off a good deal of it is sold out. Secondly, I will be doing a lot of volunteering and so my time is limited.

I guess that leads me to having several questions. The first being is there a small chance I could get into a first level game with generics? I'd rather know what my chances happened to be before I tried it. Hopefully the second question won't offend anyone all that much. If I could get into a game, what is the general feeling on people who don't 100% know the rules? I played 3rd edition and I played 3.5, but it has been a few years. I think everyone has been guilty of giving a newbie the stink eye from time to time.

I will most certainly try to figure out if I can find anything locally. Yet I also appreciate any information that anyone else can share. So thanks in advance.
