About Nicolas "Mouse" Lester

Summary
Nicolas Lester, better known as Mouse, is the young apprentice of the Wizard Khonnir Baine.

Nicolas was found as a young child in the caves beneath Torch Hill. Alone and afraid, the boy's eyes had been replaced with the alien technology: wide black beads that hummed quietly with power (like the eyes of a mouse!). The Dwarven Councilwoman that found him brought the child back with her to Torch, where a local couple (The Lesters) graciously took him in. Nicolas grew up in Torch, living a relatively normal life: the young teen studying magic with his adoptive father Leonard (a dabbler in the arcane and metallurgy) until he was old enough to become Baine's apprentice. Baine took over Nicholas' training when Leonard became sick: his adoptive father developed hemochromatosis, making further magical studies impossible.

Earlier last month, Baine sent Mouse to the small town of Marstol to investigate rumors of a strange device. Before Mouse could find the device, he had a vision of Baine in danger, and rushed back to Torch to help.

Mouse's Appearance/Additional information:
Nicolas is slight, even for his age. His short, black hair sits neatly atop his head, but his most defining physical aspect is his eyes: set deeply in his gaunt face, these pitch black orbs hum and buzz with power, drawing the attention of most people that he meets. It was this alien technology that drove the boy to study: what better reason than to understand such an important part of his own body?

The technology in question is a pair of timeworn cybernetic eyes. His eyes glitch frequently, showing Mouse still frames or blurry feed from the future: this is how he is able to predict ambushes and fumbles, allowing the young boy to compensate accordingly (and a flavorful way to explain his arcane school powers).

Mouse's Personality:
Painfully shy, this young wizard tries to avoid most social interaction, stammering and stuttering through even simple sentences. He does make a point to stand up for himself when he has to though: if he's said something (especially unprompted), it must have been important indeed. Social anxiety aside, Mouse is fairly well rounded for a young man his age: optimistic and warm-hearted with only the occasional temper tantrum.
