About Nesica

Background

On the day Nesica was born, it rained non-stop, and continued to rain for near a week. Nobody could quite say why, but it was certainly odd out of the rainy season. Her father thought it ominous. Her mother thought it a sign of good fortune.

Truly, it was the signal of what was to come. On some days, the rain would come unexpectedly and the wind picked up at the strangest of times. Port Freedom found itself in a strange period of unpredictable weather for many years. Nesica began to see the pattern.

In moments when she felt joy, it sprinkled rain. And when she felt anger or sadness, it poured, and the wind blew a gale. Nesica was not prone to changing moods, but it was still noticable enough to have an effect. Her father, a fisherman, used to muse that the rain seemed to follow wherever she went. He was closer to the point than he realised.

She was 15 when her powers manifested fully. After years of watching how the weather complied to her emotions, she found herself able to make sutble changes. Breezes and small trinkles of rain. She even lit wicks of straw with a click of her fingers. Practice grew to perfection, and slowly she began to work out which emotions produced which effects. She kept her learning hidden from her parents, and continued her work with her father's fishing until she turned 17. It was then she told her parents she was heading out to find her own way in the world. Much to their dismay. But the small halfling believed she had gifts that she could put to use in the world, and a life as a fisherwoman just didn't seem like the best place to apply them.

She packed her bags, waved her family goodbye, and bordered the next boat to Eleder. It was time to see what Sargava has in store for her.

GEAR
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Armoured Kilt Nesica's father once said that any armor was better than no armor. He claims he once saw a fellow halfling slave kill a slave master by stabbing him in the inner thigh using a trovel, scampering into the grain fields and out of sight immediately after the deed was done. Apparently, the blood loss was so extensive that the human died in a matter of seconds. And thus Nesica has taken measures to protect her legs, just in case a mouse attempts to do much the same to her.
Backpack, Masterwork It's well weighted and has lots of pockets.
Cloak of Resistance +1 This cloak is traditionally Zenj in design, a gift from the Brotherhood for Nesica's assistance within the impoverished community and being a public supporter of their anti-colonial efforts.
Commoner Outfit Nesica has many clothes. This is but on of them.
Belt Pouch Nesica had an identical pouch to her Pathfinder Pouch made to throw off suspicion. The difference is subtle, but Nesica has memorised the key differences between her magical and non-magical pouches.
Chalk A member of the guild staff once used chalk to graffiti the docking area around the guild. She had drawn many, many depictions of herself breathing fire on townsfolk and her seemingly huge and powerful. Eventually, this member of staff ran off with all the guild's chalk and some of it's finances. Nesica still hasn't completely replenished the guild's stocks from the loss, and she has been on the lookout for the red-haired girl who did it. Particularly since she seemed more than she let on, and that she still hasn't paid for the property damage she has caused while working for the guild. Ruch seemed to get along with her, however.
Mirror A steel mirror. Well polished.
Scarf It's a present from Lonn.
Waterskin Nesica just asks the clouds for water when she needs it, but a waterskin is handy.
Grappling Hook A dwarf by the name of Dovret once spoke fondly of a grappling hook he and his adventuring group once had which had saved their lives on numerous occasions. The way he described it, it sounded like the greatest tool in an adventurer's arsenal. Nesica has purchased a few dozen for her teams, though she has rarely utilised her own.
Flute, Masterwork This flute, which Nesica has used for many years, was a gift from a master musician who spent a number of months in Port Freedom. Nesica, only 14 at the time, was astounded by his skill and wished to learn to play the flute like he did. The man gladly taught her some of his skills, though explained that such talent takes years of commitment and practice. Nesica did, however, show considerable promise. When the man finally left, he presented Nesica with this flute. The musician claimed it belonged to his brightest pupil, and it would find good use in Nesica's hands.
Smokestick These alchemcially treated sticks make for quite the distraction. Nesica remembers the time she used these to great effect against the cult of Nyarlathotep rather fondly, saving both her and Lonn Flamm'ngo's life in the process.
Potion of Lesser Restoration A slightly greenish liquid. This came from the Adventurer's Club.
Scrollcase A small case containing a number of scrolls. Purchased at the Adventurer's Club, and stamped with a Taldan artisan's logo.
scroll of protection against evil (2) Inscribed with the Thassilonian symbols 'avidais su ruziaro', representing the spells repelling nature to evil creatures. The rest appears to be in a general arcane script.
scroll of remove curse A spell scribed mostly in Celestial and an arcane script. Parts of the text are lifted straight from Sarenrae's The Birth of Light and Truth.
scroll of remove fear Written in Halfling, this scroll is highly decorated and smells of freshly baked bread.
scroll of knock This scroll is etched rather crudely, like the writer had trouble keeping their pen on the parchment.
scroll of resist energy (fire) This scroll is partially burnt. Apparently it was discovered on a well-charred corpse of an adventurer.
scroll of comprehend languages This scroll seems to flit between multiple languages as one reads it.
Pathfinder Pouch This pouch was apparently confiscated from a Pathfinder Society member, but it's true nature eluded observers until it's previous owner, the mysterious lawyer Jariques, discovered the secret extradimensional compartment. He eventually sold it to Nesica, through which the two formed a business agreement for him to serve as the guild's legal department. Part of this agreement came with Nesica hiring (although Jariques described it as 'adopting') his nibling, the half-elf warlock Zei Whitlir, to be the guild's secretary. Nesica couldn't say no!
Quarterstaff, Masterwork This quarterstaff has served Nesica well. It used to be her mother's, a relic of her parents lineage among the Song'o halfling tribes before they intergrated with colonial society. While Nesica doesn't really see herself as Song'o, she appreciates the sentimental significance of the staff, and considers it something that grounds her to her family heritage.
Bedroll Nesica likes to sleep outside. It's always nice to look at the stars, and the wind is always comforting to her.
Dagger A sharp blade. Nesica uses hers for cutting cheese.
Doses of Black Powder (10) In case Juno runs out, but Nesica has been informed by Lonn that utilizing it in combination with evocation spells produces a potent admixture. She's yet to use it, but is pretty excited to give it a go.
Mess kit A halfling's mess kit contains a great number of utensils for foods most other races probably wouldn't bother to use utensils to eat. Nesica was taught by her father that cutlery 'sometimes the most important thing in a halfling's home', and to value even the smallest possessions as important.
One of the forks is made from mithral.
Soap It's on a string.
Trail Rations (1 days) Halfling rations are quite elaborate. Nesica wasn't able to afford wandermeal for this expedition, but she relishes the chance to purchase such good tasting food!
Wand of Cure Light Wounds (8 charges) This wand is glowing brightly from multiple cracks in it's obsidian shaft. The handle is leadwood.
