About Nero Vashnarstill
Nero is old and bitter, the definition of a curmudgeon. He shambles along with a cane, constantly complaining about arthritis, gout, hangnails, and anything else he can think of. Very few people don like him. Almost everyone discount hims. Which is fine, because it lets him listen and gather little bits of knowledge, piecing them together until each secret is known. Information is power, not fireballs and swords. That moment, that sweet sweet moment, when it dawns in their eyes that “You Know!” it is worth everything in this world.
Why is he in the River Kingdoms?
A lesser cousin of a noble family is still close enough to be an embarrassment. Nero threatened the wrong person, didn't have all the facts, and could either apologize and watch the gloating satisfaction blossom on that turd woman's face, or be exiled. He chose exile. He did not know that didn't come with a living expense. But it didn't matter, he would find a way to claw his way up again, does not matter how many lives will be in a crumpled heap on his way.
