---------- TAVERN DESCRIPTION Built from dark, discolored wood, the exterior of the Wounded Wisp is the image of an iconic dive bar. Stained and barred windows obscure direct vision into the establishment, though ruddy yellow light bleeds from a window in the front hall. In the hours just before dawn, the building closes long enough for menials to clean and to give staff a rest. The only distinguishing feature on the Wisp’s exterior is a thick wooden sign hanging from above the bar’s entrance. A brass ring fitted onto the sign anchors a lantern—referred to by the staff as “the wisp”— that hangs there during the evening hours. It is also one of Absalom’s most storied taverns, and is widely reputed to be the location of the Pathfinder Society’s founding in 4307 AR. The Wounded Wisp is very nearly the Society’s official bar. From the days of Society founders Durvin Gest and Selmius Foster down to the present, the Wounded Wisp has been where agents meet to brag about successful expeditions, drown the sorrows of failed ones, and plot their next adventures. Chroniclers such as Eando Kline refer to it frequently in the notes and marginalia of their publications in the Pathfinder Chronicles, and the Society’s prominent leaders can be seen here rubbing elbows with retired agents, current operatives, and promising trainees. HISTORY The Wounded Wisp was a bar once frequented by the original members of the Pathfinder Society before the Society was even formed. Inside the Wisp, acquaintances would share stories about their adventurous exploits with one another. Many volumes of the Pathfinder Chronicles came together under the Wisp’s roof. Famous Pathfinders like Eando Kline and the Seeker Osprey often stopped by for a drink while they relaxed in Absalom between assignments. Though not officially affiliated with the Society, the bar maintains good relations with Pathfinders, offering discounts and prompt service. The owners have always kept themselves and the Wisp afloat through the generosity of Society agents who spend coin at the establishment. Selmius Foster was one of the founding members of the Pathfinder Society, known to have frequented the Wisp often and occasionally taken up residence in a spare room between his travels. His celebrated exploits first appeared in Volume 1 of the Pathfinder Chronicles. Following the death of Selmius Foster on the island of Bhopan, his assistant Adolphus made several donations to maintain one of his mentor’s favorite sites. The exact arrangement between Adolphus and the owners of the Wisp was never disclosed, but it is said that some of this gold came from the same fortune that Adolphus used to found the Pathfinder lodge in Quantium. WHERE IN ABSALOM? The Wounded Wisp is located in the Foreign Quarter district of Absalom, close to the grounds of the Grand Lodge. Its proprietor and bartender is Heryn Gale, who inherited the establishment from her father. The Wisp was one of the bars at which the Pathfinder Society was founded on 23 Desnus, 4307 AR, and has served as an unofficial Society bar since. ---------- "For starters, it’s one of the most important establishments in the history of the Society. This is for Pathfinder 2E. After running games with a wonderful group of players for 2.25 years, we finally achieved our long-term goal of bringing everyone’s characters to level 5. It was a steady and committed journey, with no one leaving the campaign—save for one beloved player who sadly passed away this year. Now that this campaign has concluded, I am looking to form a new group of six players for another adventure through a series of repeatable PFS scenarios. This new run will begin with fresh, level 1 (0 XP) PFS-legal characters. I’m seeking players whose characters can work well with others, so party composition and class synergy will be taken into account. Most importantly, I’m looking for players who can commit to the full progression up to level 5. The following repeatable PFS scenarios will be run throughout the campaign:
We will utilize the following tools for various aspects of our campaign: RPGChronicles website as the platform for the Sign-Up Sheets; Google Sheets for managing Character Info and Macros; and Google Slides for displaying NPCs and Maps during gameplay.
