This door is charged with the energies of death and I believe that channeling positive energy isn't the only way to unlock it... I believe that the makers must have devised some sort of method of entrance that only they knew. Perhaps further exploration of the complex might reveal the knowledge we require.

Init 4+, ac 10, touch ac 10, ff ac 10, F 0+, R 0+, W 3+, hp 10

Channeling such energy is the action of the "goodly" faiths, it may not however be strictly necessary to do so... Let me probe the door.

Perhaps we can smoke the drow out, find the nest and then pile enough wood in front of the entrances and set them alight. The smoke will in these cramped tunnels travel fast and fill the air, the drow will either flee ino our waiting trap or they will die from inhaling the smoke...

Even the most powerful of artifacts have constraints on their amount of power, one can simply not put an infinite amount of magical energy into an object... Now you could at least if you were the ancients stuff a lot more power into an object then we could, however it would by no means be infinite.

Init 4+, ac 10, touch ac 10, ff ac 10, F 0+, R 0+, W 3+, hp 10

My personal advice is simple, find the drow leader and deplete her forces sufficiently if required. Then arrange for her to "miraculously" find the Orb with chief Ird and his pack of goblins nearby, only one force will survive the conflict and that force will be greatly depleted... Easy prey for some bright and fresh adventurers.

I would advise you to find a being who can speak elven as since the drow and elves share a common heritage they may share a common tongue. Once you can speak to him then proceed to use either magic or torture to get the answers out of him.

Another alternative is available now that I think of it, I have not made my daily invocations to Merchant of Souls... I can request an invocation that will allow us to make the goblin leader exceptionally pliant to our desires.

That may be true, however a problem emerges... He could easily alert the drow and goblins to our presence, he can't do that if he is dead. Plus one doesn't need a live prisoner to get answers, with the right scrolls I will get answers from beyond the grave. Or I will see what the Lord of the Eighth is willing to dredge up, make a sacrifice big enough and Hell will answer you quickly and precisely...
