Posting this in the right place. Yes, I'm aware much of this has been discussed. Yes, I'm aware that the jury is still out. The point is to provide feedback on my observations for the playtest.

The following was written and posted in the main feedback thread before moved to here:
In regards to multiarmed ancestries (currently Kasatha and Skittermander), is there any reason that they have to distinguish which set of hands are their primary? Does it matter that they have free hands or extra weapons in those hands because at the end of the day they still experience the MAP and they only have 3 actions? I just feel as if this is some sort of holdover from the previous edition where having extra limbs may provide extra actions. Even if quickened they would still not have more actions than other characters. The only mechanical benefit would be that they have more items in hands or that they don't have to worry as much about having free hands.

Post reading of the thread:
I always love it when people pull out moderately corner cases for why a thing might be broken. "What if the players who play multi-arm ancestries use rocket launchers and fire multiple rockets a turn?!" Then make it so they can't hold multiple rocket launchers. Who here can honestly tell me they don't want see a General Grievous style Kasatha Solarian wielding four weapons in a game? Again, the action economy would only allow for 3 to 4 attacks at most and the final two would be almost pointless with how the MAP works.

Apparently, I need to read the forums before I post.

Oh, hello. I'm JMD031, you may remember me from such threads as "The Official JMD031 Rant Thread" and "JMD031's Awesome Thread of Awesomeness" from approximately 2+ years ago. You don't remember me? Well, that's fair.

Anywho, why am I starting a new thread now? Because I'm going to Gen Con and I'm considering running a short game. This will not be a typical game, it will be a Lord of Chaos game. What is a Lord of Chaos game? Click here for information. If interested post here!

More information to follow.

So I'm back...of course I didn't mean to be gone but as this thread is any indication I've been away from the forum for about a month. I'd like to say I have something interesting to say but alas I do not. As my dad always says, "keep on, keeping on".

I have changed my avatar a few times but this one has stuck with me the longest. I always imagine the doppelgängers to be alternate versions of me. Also I feel the trick to ensuring you are one of the only people with your avatar on these boards is to simply "own" it by force of personality.

Here is what I came up with. It appears he is designed to be a ranged combatant with his pistol. I thought the Champion Path worked well for this given his fighter base and gave him the Distant Barrage Champion's Strike. Beyond that I thought any of the following feats would work well for a mythic feat: Combat Reflexes (infinite AoO), Deadly Aim (reduce penalty to hit and increase damage) and Improved Critical (x5 multiplier). For Path Abilities I think the best one to choose is Maximized Critical as it will allow for him to either get 32 (or 40 with Improved Critical) + whatever damage bonus exist from Deadly Aim, enchantment, etc.

I thought it would be interesting to add Mythic abilities to the Hurricane King to add more challenge to the final encounter. I didn't see any threads on this, so I thought I'd start one. I'll add my thoughts later but feel free to chime in.

Buhlman would love this thread.

Welcome back rant fans! This is one of two rants that I promised. This particular rant is about those (expletive deleted) “Ask ______ all of your (expletive deleted) whatevers” threads. I know what you may be thinking, “what’s wrong with you?” Well, initially I had no issues with these threads. Especially when they were directed towards Paizo employees. But, now it is getting ridiculous. I mean some of these posters who have threads I haven’t even (expletive deleted) heard of. The ones for the Paizo employees are pretty good as they provide an inside look into their creative minds. I mean who wouldn’t want to know what James Jacobs has for breakfast or provide positive comments to Sara Marie or even fuel Cosmo’s ultimate plans with blame? Well, pretty much every poster on this board is who. But I digress, these threads were unique and interesting in their own rights. And now…well let’s just say they are the mass commercialized generic versions of their former selves. I just realized that I could be seen as a hypocrite due to this very thread, but firstly (expletive deleted) you and secondly, this thread is nothing like those others. Also, this thread was more of an extension of a different thread. What’s that? What about the “JMD031’s Awesome Thread of Awesome”? Well, that thread is just about being awesome and has nothing to do with questions. “Ask a Slaad”, you ponder? That thread is a parody of those earlier threads. “The Unofficial JMD031’s Pun Thread”? (Expletive deleted) off! I mean…no, that is exactly what I mean. Where the (expletive deleted) was I? Oh yeah, why I chose to rant about this. Each new thread takes away from the specialness of the previous threads. Also, there are just too many of them that the Off-Topic Forum has become a virtual (expletive deleted) of them. I suppose that is the real reason that I’m ranting about this is because I can’t stand to look at the page anymore because all I see are (expletive deleted) “Ask _____ questions” or “So and so does something dumb with your posts” threads. The worst offenders are the ones started by the people themselves. I would probably be ok with a “Ask JMD031 All Your Questions” thread but I don’t think anyone would be ok with one if I started it. And before you ask, no I’m not (expletive deleted) asking for one to be started. Haven’t you been reading? Jeebus! Besides based on this rant alone, I wouldn’t even bother answering any questions. That doesn’t mean you should start a “JMD031 won’t answer any of your questions” thread either because that would be terrible. On that note, this rant is (expletive deleted) over so I stop providing terrible ideas that are likely to happen.

Tune in next time when I rant about…lawn care. What? You want a (expletive deleted) rant about Tootsie Pops? Well too (expletive deleted) bad because let me tell you about my lawn…

I'll bet you are wondering "where are all the rants?" and perhaps "why are there no new rants?" Well the answer is quite simple, my life has gotten more busy. Currently, I am in the middle of working a new job that I started 6 months ago, preparing to move, running an ongoing campaign, continuing to work in the National Guard, raise a child, developing my own game system, purchasing a house and moving into said house, and contemplating returning to school to obtain a doctorate. Some of these things are ongoing and will not go away anytime soon while others are limited but are going to take a significant amount of my time in the near future. I have tried off and on to encourage others to post rants in this thread but I get the feeling that we as a community aren't as angry as we once were or perhaps the "Blame Cosmo" thread has become the go to place to blow off steam (for which I blame Cosmo). Either way, this thread has not taken off as well as I hoped. Unfortunately, I'm stubborn and don't like to give up. So, as long as things are crazy there will likely be no rants. If this changes, you will be the first to know. And because this is turning into a mini rant (expletive deleted).

Well think about this situation: Players are walking up to the BBEG's lair. The guards yell at them to halt and state their business.

Player: I'm bringing these prisoners to the boss.

Under the rules for Bluff/Sense Motive he would normally make a roll contested by the NPCs roll. Using this power, he uses a point of Mythic Power and the NPC will believe him unless I decide he doesn't. At which point, it develops into an hour long discussion regarding whether or not there was sufficient evidence to count as "obvious". Repeat for all future encounters.

I guess I have contention with the vagueness of the wording of the ability.

First things first, I did conduct a search on the forums and did not find any answers, so decided to make a thread.

Secondly, I had a player in the game that I run recently take the Trickster Path ability Perfect Lie. The ability reads "When telling a lie you expend one use of Mythic Power to make the lie indiscernible from the truth by both Sense Motive and magic. Obvious proof of your falsehood still reveals the lie for what it is, but in the absence of proof, those who hear your lie believe it." Having read both the Bluff Skill and the Sense Motive Skill I do not fully understand how this ability works.

The way we are reading this is like the scene from A New Hope where Obi-Wan tells the Stormtroopers "These aren't the droids you are looking for" and they believe him. Last night, I let the player use this without any kind of roll because as I'm reading it, they auto-fail their sense motive checks if it "there is no obvious proof" and auto-pass otherwise.

So the question, should this ability require an opposed roll or does it simply work because the player spends Mythic Power to use it?

Oh no.

*cast prestidigitation*

There we go. These things happen when your mythic, you know.

This Slaad speaks truth. However, you are getting Slaad Dretching all over the place.
