Shields need some love in my 3.5 game, so I made-up a few feats and want to know what people think. But first, a few things to keep in mind:

  • These feats are for 3.5 (I use core + homebrew only)

  • I borrowed Shield Focus from PF (+1 AC), but only allow it to apply to light or heavier shields.

  • Since you get fewer feats in 3.5, its OK if they are a little strong.

Feats:

Shield Momentum [Combat]
You use your shield to build damaging momentum in your weapon
Prerequisites: Str13, Shield Focus, Bab+3
Benefit: When making attacks with a one-handed weapon while wearing a light or heavy shield in your offhand, you may add your shield bonus to your main-hand weapon damage rolls.

Shield Master [Combat]
You have mastered the defensive use of shields.
Prerequisites: Shield Focus, Bab+3
Benefit: Your shield bonus also applies to your touch AC.

Guardian Shield [Combat]
You use your shield to protect an ally.
Prerequisites: Shield Focus, Bab+1
Benefit: You may choose to give-up your shield bonus as a move action, and grant that bonus to an adjacent ally for 1 round.

Shielded Assault [Combat]
You make a powerful attack with your shield and your weapon.
Prerequisites: Improved Shield Bash, Shield Focus, Bab+6
Benefit: When making a successful shield bash attack as a standard action or during a charge with your primary hand, you may immediately make a second attack against the same target with your off-hand weapon, albeit at a -5 penalty.

Any similarity to any published feats is coincidental, these were all written without reference beyond the core rules.

I would like to know if these are balanced enough for 3.5, and if they work properly, make sense and are worth taking. Hopefully there aren't any unforeseen complications.

Does it bug anyone else that you can cast CMW and roll all 1's and heal 5HP, but also cast CLW and roll max and cure 9HP (assuming same level). To me, as a player and GM, it is annoying to watch people poke each other with a cure-stick 50 times in a row because they keep rolling low. It is also frustrating as a player, while in a time of emergency, to cast that cure spell to avoid your ally's demise during battle, and roll 1's.

Sometimes I wish that the Cure spells were more reliable.

Do any of you have any house rules that address this situation?

What are your general thoughts on the matter?

What do you get when a Half-orc and an Elf breed with each other?

Hi, I need GM advice.

The setting:

I am going to GM a campaign for pathfinder set in a post-apocalyptic/post-modern anime style setting. It takes place in a super communist government that is isolationist and repressive. Once a large city that has fallen to ruin, decrepit skyscrapers and modern architecture haunt the landscape. All technology is lost or horded by the government, but magic cannot be taken away, only suppressed. It will take place in a high-school setting, and I would like to somehow incorporate the underdark (possibly covert gov't involvement).

My background:

I am new to Pathfinder as a GM, and switched-over from 4.0 when PF came-out as a player. I had a short run as DM for 4.0. This is going to be a solo campaign for my boyfriend and I. My GM style is creative and fantastic, I am a great improviser and role-player but I tend to overlook alot of rules, and according to my BF, have never learned them in the first place. He wants to play more by the book, and I want to play loose and keep it simple for me, I need to find a balance.

My questions:

1. Are there any APs or moduals or anything available now or in the future like this? I think that pre-written material will make it easier on me.

2. How would you GM such a setting for PF? What monsters, items (ancient/modern), equipment, or rules would you use?

3. Do you have any suggestions to make GMing PF easier for a newbie?

4. How would you interpret the classes to fit the setting?

Can anyone help this poor girl? She wants to play.

I'm having trouble choosing my next character. I'm considering to be a barbarian or a sorcerer. Rage vs. majik? Although I haven't played a majik character before.

Can anyone help me make up my mind?

<bump> anyone out there?
