I've honestly never used AoN, though I have been aware of it for some time, but I have no feelings about this.

That being said, I do have one major reaction. I LOVE that Paizo is more than willing to work with members of the community and bring them into the "official" fold. It's amazing to see that they care as much about the fans as we do about them and are willing to reward hard work with praise and inclusion instead of with C&D and DMCA notices.

Just made characters with my party yesterday. With the exception of one player who went 16 16 14 14 12 8 (mostly for flavor reasons), they all got this standard array you mentioned.

I think overall Paizo succeeded at a system that allows more customization (even if some of that customization is more of a promise for the future than anything currently in the book). But this doesn't really seem to work for that. Most of my players are more RP focused than Power focused, and this is still where they went in character creation.

Exactly. A feat is a choice. The alternative to not having a feat is not having a choice.

Nope. That's a false dichotomy. Another alternative is calling something else, like I suggested.

But they're all feats. They are all chosen in the same way and have the same form. The reason you struggle with different names is because they all function in the same way. It makes perfect sense to me. They do the same things but they have different categories (hence Class/Skill/General).

It makes perfect sense to me, just as a writer (and reader) it hurts my brain to see the repetition. I seriously can't look at the class advancement table because I just see the word feat and everything else gets drowned out.

It's not the end of the world, and I fully understand why they did it. I just don't like it.
