Male Human Soulbolt 4

Holding action until we get the whole who's who out of the way.

Orion readies an action to jump up to and on the creature should it get close enough.

I think this is what he's trying to do, Caleth.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

As Quodak sees that the figure underneath is a half-orc like Krathok, he sends through the link, ::Please, tell him to stop! Maybe he'll listen to you!::

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Quodak looks to the hulking figure as it seems to shout at him, but shrugs, unable to understand the harsh tongue. Meanwhile, he steps out of the way of the beast 5 foot step, and unleashes an attack at it, which, I'd imagine in all this fog, would be pretty hard to see. Not looking for Flat-footed or anything, just surprise when it gets hit (or doesn't) by something hard to see.

Attack, Using Deadly Aim and including PBS: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

Damage: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

::Anyone know what he's saying? We need to sort this out.::

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Ouch. Quodak's not reacting quickly to that one.

Our Brywyn speaker is gone, isn't he? I haven't heard anything from Moredrel in quite some time.

Edit: Looking at your rolls, I believe he missed me. My flat-footed AC is 14, not 13.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

That seems about right to me.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

I imagine I would be somewhere near the back, being a (roughly) ranged character.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Caleth, I had intended to keep Quodak going, working more and more fiercely towards the downfall of the Dragon God. If necessary, he could help any that arose with powers similar to his (as unlikely as that would be), and he would in general be a very mobile ranged fighter, often acting as a scout, although able to hold his own if worse comes to worst.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Like I've said before, I'm still here, and will be to the end.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Anything?

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Quodak manifests his mind bolt, ready to attack whatever needs attacking should a threat make itself clear.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

Oh, sure, now I get a 26.

They've seen it too, guys.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Quodak stops as Orion speaks, responding in a like tone.

Armored men? That's odd..... aren't these flats supposed to be deserted?

Sorry again. For whatever reason, the X new hasn't been popping up.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Not entirely sure why it wasn't coming up, but I've seen now that there are posts.

Survivals:

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Perception

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

I haven't anything particular to RP, either.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Huzzah! Like I said before, I'm always willing to play, if you're still willing to DM.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Is there any chance of this going back up, Caleth? If at all possible, I would very much like to continue.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Very well. I can take last watch.

Sorry, didn't see the updates in here. I would've posted much sooner.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

It's all good. Not that big a deal.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Gorak?

Survival1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

It looks like I've never actually looked at the Survival rules all that closely. Apparently, anyone who is trained in Survival can automatically discern north. I wouldn't be surprised nor opposed to you requiring a check for it, though.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Quodak nods appreciatively to the spirit, ready to get moving.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

No rolls for me, thanks. Skill/ability checks aren't successful automatically on nat 20s, and I don't have high enough modifiers.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Figure I can't do much worse than Orion.

It is true, Spirit. We have done nothing but hinder the Dragon-folk, and they have been naught but a hinderance to us. We are on our way now to help another outpost of those who would fight against the dragons. Even now, they may be in danger. Would that serve your cause, losing those who would fight against those who have, by your tone with my winged friend, done you wrong? We seek to wrong them as well, and dethrone them from power. I think we can make a partnership of this, and we can help eachother. What say you, Spirit?

Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 10

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Alright. Seeya when you get back.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Quodak shakes his head, trying to rid himself of the presence, apparently succeeding. He keeps his hands free and ready to manifest, although he says nothing.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

DM - Thoughts:
What the hell are these things? Are we going to make it out alive? Are we going to have to fight? Do we even have a chance if we do have to fight?

Basically, his mind is racing with thoughts similar to these.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Through the collective, Quodak sends ::This isn't the only one. There are other figures moving around, almost outside of my vision.::

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Quodak pauses as Orc begins talking to/at the figure, and translates into draconic, that being the language the figure first spoke in, and sending the figures words along the collective so that Krathok could understand it.

As far as I can tell, Orion, that would work.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

First off, healing heals back one nonlethal and one lethal for every point of healing. Second, you have to warm up before you can heal any of the HPs, so Infernal Healing would do absolutely nothing.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Fort Save DC 15: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 2 = 22
Fort Save DC 16: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 2 = 8
Fort Save DC 17: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 2 = 15
Fort Save DC 18: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 2 = 19

Nonlethal damage from saves two and three: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6

Quodak sticks with it, shivering some, but hanging in there.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Sounds good to me, Caleth.

On a mostly unrelated note, naps are awesome. As an experiment, I started polyphasic sleeping, which is basically where you take a whole bunch of naps during your 24 hour cycle, instead of sleeping once at night. I was running off 2-3 hours of sleep a day for a little over a month. The only reason I couldn't sustain it was my family, who only found it pertinent to bother me when I was napping. Still, it was fun, and I can't wait to return to a polyphasic schedule once I move out.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

:D

Moredrel, you've returned! Good to have ya back.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Sounds good to me. I sent a PM to Moredrel yesterday, but I haven't gotten a response, and he hasn't replied, so it appears he won't be returning.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

I won't give up on this til you do, so I'll always be here. :P

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Just so everybody knows, Kjolmar dropped from all of his play-by-posts, so he won't be returning.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

I'm good to wait. I'd rather wait a while then have this completely die. Sorry I didn't post sooner, the Discussion board de-dotted for me.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Onward ho indeed, I hope. Anything incoming?

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Sweet. Onward, Gentlemen!

Male Human Soulbolt 4

I have no handle animal.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

My first thought is To have Orion tie one up in a sort of rope harness before coming up, and he and I, being the highest strength characters, haul it up, using an enlarge person from Moredrel to even out our strengths if necessary, and if he will oblige. We could use snow trenches as an anchor, running rope through it to hold us, and make sure we don't go tumbling off the edge. He would have to back down to tie each of them, but it shouldn't be much of a problem for him. Snow is actually incredibly strong. Not sure if it's strong enough for this, but it's what I've got. Barring that, we could tie other characters to us, using them as anchors, but that's much more of a last resort. If anyone else has anything other, less risky, ideas, they'd probably be better to us, but this is what I've come up with.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Hmmm....This is gonna take some thought.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Quodak will climb up, or at least try.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Did he make it?

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Might as well try one. Didn't see the update this morning.

Survival: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

Kjolmar says to the group, "Well, I think it'd prob'ly be best if we look fer a better spot to get over this. There must be somewhere along this long stretch of ice, right?"

That's probably our best bet, safety-wise. I don't really want to be climbing it, any way we would do it, with such high stakes for failure. Even with sturdy ice, I've come to realize it would be pretty easy to just slip. It is, after all, ice.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

The main thing that I wanted to do was provide a new surface. The size of the chunks didn't really matter to me.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Do you think, if we could get the first layer of ice off safely, we could climb that more easily?

^Serious question.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Derp. So, I take 5 less damage. 34 (7)/40HP

Male Human Soulbolt 4

It's not that big a deal, really, but I think technically speaking, Krathok, that DR wouldn't apply, as this is elemental damage, similar to being hit with (the gods forbid) a merciful cone of cold. As far as I can tell, you would instead need resistance to mitigate the damage.

Also, Orion, there's a perception check to be made. Krathok may not have rolled it, as he doesn't have a high enough modifier, but if I remember correctly, you've got at least a +5.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Survival: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

Altitude: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Cold DC 15: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Cold DC 16: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Cold DC 17: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Cold DC 18: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Total Nonlethal Cold Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 5, 4) = 12

Dang. not a single save was made. Perception any better?

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Better, yes, but not good enough.

34 (12)/40HP

The helmet seems to be conducting the heat right out of Quodak, :P as he seems much colder from the start. He does not complain, however, and thinks he sees something, but quickly decides it was simply his exhaustion playing tricks on him.
