About Mila Syrenka-Blakros

"To me, horses and freedom are synonymous." - Veryl Goodnight

When Mikayla Syrenka (my Kingmaker character) fought to establish her kingdom in the Riverlands, she fought several battles against the barbarians in those lands. Eventually Mikayla rallied the barbarian tribes as allies to her cause, and a young chieftain's daughter came to Happy Valley as ward of the new rulers. Though Mikayla tried to school her adopted daughter in the ways of nobility and rulership, the wild spirit of the plains lingered in the girl's heart. She loved riding and the hurly-burly of combat more than diplomacy and the intrigues of court.

Mikayla realized that Mila was chafing under the constraints of living in town, and turned her loose with these words. "I love you as if you were my own child, but you are not of my blood, or my spirit. I would no more send you as an envoy to the Medvyeds or Lebedas, than I would order myself into the wilds to hunt wolves with a longspear. Go instead to the Pathfinders, in Absalom. There you will find kindred spirits, who share your love of adventure. There, also, you may find brave allies who will aid our land in the future. Run free, but know that you always have a home to return to in Happy Valley."

So, Mila travelled south and joined the Pathfinders. She excelled in combat training, but found that her adopted mother's training had given her the words and bearing that inspired others to follow her into battle. How will she use these talents? Only time will tell . . .

Early reports suggest that Mila has actually retained some of the lessons learned from her adoptive mother. She has, in the course of Scars of the Third Crusade and Slave Ships of Absalom, solved several problems by talking to people, and refrained from bashing in the heads of both a slave merchant and a lawyer! In a subsequent adventure, Mila was able to take a much more aggressive approach to dealing with slavers, defeating a gang of gnolls and rescuing Epanas, a Numerian woman who was being held captive. The two women struck up a friendship while Mila was posing as a slave and, after their escape, Epanas agreed to ally herself with the Pathfinders and serve as Mila's squire. ( This conveniently corresponds with hitting 5th level and gaining an animal companion.)

As she rose through the ranks of the Pathfinder Society, Mila crossed paths with the Blakros family on multiple occasions. On one occasions, she was able to stop a display of Numerian technology from overrunning the Blakros Museum. A little later, she was invited to a dinner at he home of Michellia and Damian Blakros, where she first met their cousin, Charlie. Charlie Blakros was a dashing fellow, and the Blakros elders despaired of finding a potential wife who would tolerate his penchant for traveling to far away places and shooting exotic animals with his Alkenstar long rifle. For Mila, who owns a hunting lodge and lands in the Riverlands as reward for her work in the Emerald Spire, he was a perfect match, and they were soon married.

Most recently, Mila ventured into Galt to stage a daring rescue of her hapless faction leader, Colson Maldris. Feeling completely in her element, she jumped her horse onto the executioner's platform, shattered his chains with a blow from her glaive, and rode off on a fast horse.
