Matsuno gives a slight chuckle at the cleric's comment, "If only we could be so lucky. I think for now our best path would be to proceed expecting the worst, and count our blessings if things actually go our way."

The man tests his bow once, and takes comfort in the resistance of the draw. He makes himself ready to face whatever is behind the door and prepares for the worst.

Just a note, Thorfinn will be in the lead as we move around. He's melee based and has better vision than the rest of us. so that makes more sense.

Seeing the corpses, Matsuno will give them a quick inspection before moving back to the room where they made their entrance into the lair, examining the tunnel leading south and waiting for the dwarf to take the lead.

Matsuno waits for the group to regain their composure, and deal with their wounds, before offering "Hate to remind everyone, but we've a troop of goblins above our heads. We best get moving quickly." He prepares to move north, into the tunnel, once the group is ready. Obvious that whatever down here likely had better vision than most of the group, he will stuff the end of his torch through his belt to help provide light while keeping his hands free to work.

Looking back towards the opening Matsuno says, "Lower yourself down, grab the rope, and toss it into the hole and we can reel you in. If that's even possible."

Matsuno takes a moment to retrieve his arrows, making it a point to twist the ones in the creature at least once for good measure before pulling them out. Glancing at the welt on Ioaxeia he asks, "You ok? That looked like a nasty sting." Once the party gathers he returns the arrows to his side quiver and says, [b]"I can do a little scouting ahead if no one objects, and glances around, getting his bearings.

Whatever is north of me appears to be LOS blocked and I think thats a door to the west?

There must be a vulnerable spot on this thing somewhere!

I have a bad habit of envisioning all dwarves to be rocky little boulders wearing stone plate or the like, so it takes some work to break out of that stereotype in my head. I recently played in a PFS game where our rogue was a dwarf and I kept calling him "the halfling" on accident. :)

"Come back with her you foul thing" the archer says, clearly perturbed that the thing was trying to get away with a magus snack.

Reaching into his pack he pulls out a magically lit torch, the area instantly becoming brighter, and drops it in front of him, clearing his view of the creature before firing another arrow at the beast.

Move action to retrieve his everburning torch, free action to drop, standard to put holes in the slimy thing.

Matsuno belts out from the opening, "No time for more climbing, hold fast!" and lets the rope drop to his feet. It was obvious that the climb would have to wait, as this immediate threat had to be dealt with in a hurry.

Free action to drop the rope, 5 foot step, shoot ugly tentacle monster thing.

Matsuno, realizing he is the anchor for the climb up of the others, shuffles to the side to allow Thorfinn and Dan room to get around him and eliminate their attacker. He continues to hold fast onto the rope, "Make haste, we are not alone in here." With his other hand he holds his bow, ready to bat aside any more of the errant tentacles.

Once inside, and not immediately eaten by rabid goblins, Matsuno secures a rope to one hand and drops it out of the opening, hoping to give the others an easier entrance into the cave. He keeps a close eye on the vines and nettles behind him as he waits.

Rope with the cliff face to brace against should make the DC a simple 5 to climb, as long as everyone can get to the rope itself.

Reminder to Dak that we don't have a current map in Roll20, so we can't properly visualize the layout of shore vs. cliffs vs. aforementioned hole with vines.

Matsuno moves to the prow of the boat, making a leap from the boat once it nears the cliff face and grasping for purchase on the wall.

Nodding to Syuviel, Matsuno says, "We might just be in luck. However, it could just be a tidal cave, and not an alternate entrance. We can only hope if it is an entrance, it is unguarded." With that he will prepare his gear and get ready to disembark from the skiff, handing the captain some coins for his trouble.

Not really knowing the man, Matsuno didn't feel comfortable offering his own comments. That was something best left to his companions and those who knew the man. He did, however, raise his glass at the appropriate moments, acknowledging their toasts and their loss.

A bit later, and the evening draws on, he says, "I will be staying at the family manor this evening. I must speak with Ameiko about current affairs. Shall we meet in the morning at the docks?"

Wanted to give everyone an update on my schedule for the next few weeks, since I'm about to hit convention season full stride.

I am supporting or running conventions this weekend, next weekend, and the first weekend in May. Basically what that means is I'll be doing prep in the evenings, starting tonight, and will be mostly unavailable between Friday and Sunday of those weekends.

After this spat of weekends I will also be gone the first week of June supporting Origins and the last week of July for GenCon. During those two weeks it is likely I will have no time to post, and those specific conventions run from Wednesday to Sunday.

I apologize in advance if my gameplay lags during these dates. Please GMPC me along as needed.

Matsuno takes a seat at the table where the two are seated, nodding at Bahni across the room, a silent request for a drink. Speaking to the wizards he says, "We have secured a transport by water for the morning. We are to meet the captain at first light on the docks. From there he will take us to the waters surrounding Thistletop where we can hopefully determine if there is a less guarded approach available."

Matsuno, feeling somewhat guilty at involving a commoner into something so potentially dangerous, says "We are looking for passage to Thistletop. We're working to stamp out the danger currently plaguing the town and had a bit of a run in with the goblins there earlier today. They may be expecting us to come at them again and are hoping to find another way into their fortified position." He pauses for a moment, letting the man digest the words, and then adds "An approach by the coast might give us an advantage."

He pauses, waiting to be called a nut or for the man to dismiss them completely.

Matsuno pales at the sight of the man scooping the filthy aquarium water into a tankard, "You are going to drink, that?" he says, feeling rather green in the gills. Hoping to find someone not too afraid of a little coastal scouting. Any suggestions on a good captain?"

Definitely too far for some smuggling tunnels. I doubt they lead to Thistletop.

Matsuno nods, and turns to the bar, "Bahni, if a pair of elves show up looking for us, we shall return directly. Ask them to stay put if you would?" Gathering his things he heads for the door, speaking to Dan and Thorfinn as he does, "Let's head down there and see what can be arranged. Bahni will see to the other's needs when they arrive. And on that note, I really don't know the half-elf all that well, but I assume him to be trustworthy. As I was nearing Thistletop I bumped into his camp. It appeared he had been keeping an eye on the place for a while."

How far, distance wise, is Thistletop from Sandpoint?

Matsuno, thinking about the dwarf's statement, adds "It is unlikely the tunnel would be something the goblins knew about, otherwise the town would likely be swimming in goblins by now. It would only make sense that they would use it as a point of entry to avoid the exterior limits of the city and gain access right into the heart."

"I think a good look around at the base of the island would be a good idea. They might have handholds dug into the stone to provide an alternate escape route for all we know. And if what you said is true and there are humans under the fort, then they might also have set up a quicker way in and out than going through a bunch of melon-heads." says the archer, glad to see that there was some additional information he had been missing. A frontal assault might work, as the goblins had lost several of their kin, but Matsuno definitely favored a less obvious approach if possible.

Speaking to the two men at the table Matsuno says, "So, we are back, and it appears the wounds of battle have been washed away. What do you feel is the next step? You two obviously have had the most dealings with these local goblins, so I offer whatever service I might provide to your plan. All I know is we can't let them spend too much time preparing for our return."

Matsuno, still a newcomer to the town, notices the extra attention with some discomfort. Whispering to his companions he says, "Seems we have more than a few straying eyes on us this day. Something I should know?"

Speaking to Ameiko, Matsune says, "Thank you for the invitation, it would be nice to spend some time there while we are in town." He finds a seat at one of the tables and adds, "I have a feeling we will be headed back out soon, once personal matters are attended to. Once I have a better idea of what our next step is I will stop by the manor to check in on you. Until then, I await the rest of the group."

Not sure what time of the day it is, but Matsuno would order a light meal and wait around the Inn for a while to see if anyone else shows up.
