Special Ability
Weapon Master: Lucius gains a +10% to hit, +2 damage, and +2 Initiative when using weapons of the Basic class.

Other Abilities
Leery of Outsiders: Frontier world characters are suspicious by nature. Because of this outlook, frontier world characters suffer a –10 penalty on all Fellowship Tests when dealing with someone they have not previously met (exactly when to apply this check is up to the GM).
Tenacious Survivalist: Life on the frontier can be filled with all manner of horrors. Frontier world characters learn at an early age to be wary of their surroundings, and react quickly in the face of danger. Frontier world characters may re-roll any Initiative Roll they make, though they must accept the results of the second roll.
Xenos Interaction: It’s a common occurrence for humans on frontier worlds to interact and trade with xenos. Because of this interaction, Frontier World characters are immune to Fear when caused by a xenos with a Fear (2) or Fear (1). If the Fear Test difficulty is 3 or higher, however, it affects the character as normal. Of course, this outlook often puts them at odds with members of the Ecclesiarchy and as such they suffer a –5 penalty to all Interaction Tests when dealing with members of the Imperial Cult.
The Face of the Enemy: You will never willingly have dealings with your sworn enemy (Chaos worshipers) except under the direst circumstances, and if you must do so, you suffer -10 to all Fellowship Tests in those dealings. Also, if given the slightest provocation, you will react violently towards them. (You may take a Willpower Test to avert this, modified by the provocation and the consequences of succumbing to your hatred.)

Backstory:

Born on the small world of Perren, located on the edge of the Imperium's territory, Lucius was the son of a ex-Guardsman turned frontiersman. Growing up, learning how to survive on his own initiative and without aid from others, he was a strong and hardy child who quickly learned how to fight and how to survive. Unfortunately, that was not enough when Death came knocking on his door, as Perren was soon to be the battleground of a great battle for such a small planet; a battleground for the Emperor's Angels and the Forces of Chaos. While still a boy, Lucius and his father survived the initial confrontation intact, as they lived far from any centers of civilization, though all they had and knew was gone. But while scavenging and looking for a way to continue living he found an unlikely ally. A Space Marine, still alive, was left by his brothers, though he was so grievously wounded that without the aid of his fellow Marines, he would not survive long. But between Lucius and his father they were able to get this fallen warrior to the remnants of a nearby town, where a message was sent to the Chapter fleet, but at great cost; the father was butchered by the remaining forces of Chaos and the injured Battle-Brother was also slain when he gave his life to let Lucius escape.

And so Lucius ran and hid and survived, while gathering a group of fellow survivors all in order to strike back at the forces of Chaos as best they can, for the Space Marines did not do as thorough a job as they had thought, tricked by subterfuge, and a dark ritual of Chaos was nearing its completion on the surface of Perren. Fortunately, the God-Emperor's fortune shined on Perren and on Lucius, for the Chapter had received the message from their now-dead compatriot and returned to Perren in full-force. Coordinating their assault with the ragged band of surviving resistance members, they landed on Perren once more, with flame and bolter bringing the wrath of the God-Emperor to those forces of Chaos. Watching the righteous fury of the Chosen of the God-Emperor manifest itself against its foes, Lucius was struck with a near-divine sense of purpose; while he never may be a Space Marine, he will dedicate his life to bringing the wrath of the Emperor to his foes.

In exchange for his service in helping the fallen battle-brother call back his Chapter to eradicate the Chaos threat, the Space Marines took Lucius farther into the Imperium, to a nearby Hive World, but he did not stay long. Enlisting in the Imperial Guard as quickly as he could, he became a most-formidable warrior fighting against the myriad foes of the Imperium. Surviving countless battles and many campaigns, a feat that very few in the Guard can claim, fighting and war became second nature to Lucius, much like eating and breathing are for other men.

And yet, as the years went on, a life in service to the Emperor did not quite suit Lucius as well as he had hoped; while the fighting and the bloodshed were clearly his calling, taking orders from Commanders was growing tiresome, and more than once had a Commissar's eye lingered over him when his bloodlust grew great. And so, when he finished his current tour of duty, rather than immediately signing on for another tour, he left. Using what little pay he had saved from the Guard, he began to work as a mercenary, and he saw where that took him. But after a job for an individual whose interests leaned a little too far into the occult, and whose home was mysteriously destroyed from within and the man never heard from again, Lucius was unsure of where to go from there. Perhaps he could become a bounty hunter, or re-join the Guard, but then he heard from a contact of a Rogue Trader vessel that was docking and was looking for fighters, and so he decided to give them a chance. At the very least, it was likely to be his most highly paying job ever, and individuals such as they always have need of a steady aim and a strong hand...

Appearance:

Just under two meters tall, with broad shoulders and barrel chest, Lucius cuts an impressive figure no matter where he goes. His face, just now beginning to show the signs of age, is framed by his raven black hair and is dominated by his startling green eyes and a single long scar that starts at his hairline and continues beneath his collar. His weather-beaten skin, tanned after countless hours beneath numerous suns, stretches tight over his angular jaw and neck. Garbed in clearly battle-tested gear covered in the innumerable nicks and scratches that such items inevitably gain, it is all maintained with the skilled hand of a professional soldier.
