I have a buddy who wants to run a game starting tomorrow night and I have been wracking my brain trying to figure out how to make this work properly. Unfortunately he does not allow gunslingers which would make this fairly easy.

Idea: Grammaton Cleric (equilibrium, movie)
No guns so hand xbows

I think it is best to go ranger at the start, he is willing to do a weapon proficiency swap if I can make it fit in my back story so that I can use the hand xbow but not a regular bow and play human.

The problem I am running into is that hand xbows are complete crap compared to other weapons composite isn't an option I have seen and you can't add str or dex to the damage at any point that I know of. A couple levels in being able to afford repeating weapons wouldn't be too bad but I always get stuck on the crapy damage scaling. At the start I would be on par with the party but I would quickly be left behind and when I am there to be a dps/evasion tank I wouldn't be very useful I don't think.

Any ideas? I have never gone down the hand xbow route before for anything except poison delivery

I have been playing a ninja and I had some extra money to spend at the start of our 7th level I opted to take leadership (feat) and to purchase a guild house and black market. I know, I know not normal for a ninja but it is setting me up for some things later on. Since I now have followers and a guild house I am trying to build a league of assassins. The black market was pretty much just a way to draw some extra funding.

The problem is I and my DM are unable to figure out in the downtime rules how much money can actually be made from them. Searching the forums didn't yield much luck either.

Input greatly appreciated.

Hello all I an as the subject said new to the play by post world. My friends and I tried it for a couple weeks and it was going well until the DM was pulled away because of RL events. I think I am ready to give it another shot since none of my friends are interested at this time in any game.

The forums are a bit hectic as everyone I see already has 10+ players interested and if I am the fng my chances seem slim. I can post everyday and more on most weekdays than once as work doesn't restrict most sites. If anyone is starting a fresh campaign and willing to give a guy a push in the right direction I would love to hop into a pathfinder adventure.

Classes I am interested in but haven't played:
Gunslinger
Alchemist (grenadier or dipped into monk and go mutation)
Witch (never played a caster but it looks cool)

My buddy will be running a game with myself as the only P.C. due to our time restrictions with school and work it is going to be a forum game. The rulebook is pathfinder and I need some advice. I am a huge fan of martial classes rogue being my all time favorite but I am looking to branch out a little bit this time (not much). I like the idea of survival by killing faster, even though I know it is a risky way to run because I have to have decent rolls to do so. I was thinking of playing a gunslinger, but doing some reading it looks like they are a bit squishy. Since this is a single player game I have to balance Damage/Mitigation/Social. Any constructive input would appreciated.
