Short and lithe, with dark tanned skin and long dark hair, Malavine is a striking woman. She has a slight build and a trim, dancers figure. Her hair is often tied back or braided to stay out of her face, but it sometimes more elaborate if the mood strikes her.
The most noticeable thing about Malavine is her eyes, a swirling bronze that came to her when her Oracle’s powers manifeste themselves and reduces her vision significantly. She also has an intricate series of tattoos over her face, left shoulder and upper back and down her arm. These are the story of her life, in weaving patterns and symbols, and something she intends to add to as suitably interesting things happen. Malavine prefers wearing armour whenever she can, and metallic jewelry and ornamentation. Even her clothing tends to be bronze or silver in colour, or have heavy metallic threading woven throughout. She tends to wear limited jewelry, and often jasmine or cinnamon perfume. One things she prefers not to wear is shoes - she claims she can’t feel the road she’s meant to travel as well when she does, and while she does own some she’ll only wear them when not doing so will cause injury.
Personality:
Upbeat and generally cheerful, Malavine is happy and energetic. She likes to travel and tends to avoid locations with too much regulation and law, feeling they get in the way of people and there chance to be themselves. Laws tell people who to be as much as how to behave, and that’s not how some people are meant to be. It’s what makes so many people in big cities so miserable, in Malavine’s opinion.
Despite her wish for personal freedom, she also believes in taking responsibility for your actions and your own word. If you have the freedom to what you will, then you alone are responsible for it, and if you give your word no one forced you to do so. Naturally skilled with healing, she enjoys helping others. Equally, she enjoys rending evil things down to the smallest possible components. Especially if it also helps people.
Background:
Born in far off Varisia, much of Malavine’s earliest memories are of the travel of her family's caravan from Magnimar, through the inhospitable nation of Cheliax and the odd nation of Andoran, to the island city of Absolom and finally to the burning sand of Osirion. By the time they arrived at the desert nation Malavine was a nearly grown woman, but upon stepping onto the shores of Osirion she was struck down.
Taken to a healer, her family were shocked to find out that it was not a simple mortal ailment, but the power of the Gods themselves that had stricken so much of her sight from her. Over the next few days her eyes, once a pleasant shade of blue, turned white and then bronze, a pair of swiling pools that matched her sun darkened skin. It was at that moment that she chose her first tattoo - facial markings describing what she was, now. Even her new eyes couldn’t stop her looking in a mirror, after all. But the curse did come with some gifts. Malavine was granted the power to heal, and destroy, in equal measure, although the style of magic she used was unusual. Already a dedicant of Desna, she learned more of the art of the Starknife, and began to use train with the weapon. Despite being neither strong nor quick she proved to be adept with the weapons. With her skills lacking a proper use as her family traded up and down the Sphinx River, Malavine chose to journey alone, and see for what reason she had been gifted and curse these strange powers.
