Backstory:

Presumably orphaned young in life, Lyndiri had the fortune to have been taken in by one of the minor houses of Brevoy. House Medvyed was known throughout Brevoy for their particular talents as expert rangers and for their maintaining of a hold that lay upon a stretch of fey infested wood. So it was when the diminutive, nut brown child with grass green hair and dark eyes was found on their lands, the children of the house fell instantly in love with her.
Nonetheless, childhood was not always easy for Lyndiri. Her ‘cousins’ fast outgrew her and were hale and strong individuals famous for their ranging and the more martial arts. Lyndiri meanwhile struggled to even draw a child’s bow, and had little sense of direction. Her constant falling behind her tall and stronger companions in their exciting exploits was a source of frustration for the flighty little gnome, who desired above all to prove that she was capable of contributing. Yet, despite giving all of her effort to learn, it would become quite clear that Lyndiri was incapable of following in this tradition.

Her source of comfort in these times was a small, fury companion that her ‘cousin’ Caleth brought home one evening after a day of ranging. It was a tiny tiger cub whose mother had been killed after having slaughtered some of a nearby farmer’s herds. With a gasp and widened eyes, Lyndiri ‘confiscated’ the cub in short order, much to Caleth’s bemusement. The cat and gnome have been inseparable ever since.
She grew up, learning from the same tutors as her cousins and, despite the girl’s short attention span, it was not long into the examinations of these tutors that it was discovered that she would be able to serve her adoptive house, but in a much different manner than that of her siblings. Rather Lydniri’s will, long frustrated by her inability to follow along in the footsteps of her cousins pursuing the traditional occupation of House Medvyed, would instead find consolation in its innate ability to manipulate reality and nature through magic.
The years passed and Lyndiri, often to her own chagrin, was instructed in the laws of nature and of magic, and even a little in the politics of court – though of that subject she had little to no interest. Magics and illusions, however had all kinds of limitless potential as the innate trickster tendencies of her race blossomed in Lyndiri as well.

A couple years ago, cousin Caleth left to join the service of Brevoy, most recently being sent to the Stolen Lands on some quest. He would send letters back, but those letters ceased some months ago. Fearing the worst and frustrated with the lack of action in response (not to mention growing quiterestless and bored with her studies), Lyndiri impulsively gathered her things in secret, saddled her tiger with the contraption she had invented for him, and snuck from the family estates at night. She planned at once to answer the call of that letter she had ‘found’ while in the city, make her way to the Stolen Lands and hopefully find some clue as to the fate of Caleth there. Besides, even if she couldn't find him, she had heard that there were other gnomes in the stolen lands she might meet, and the letter she had picked up mentioned exploration and bandits.... a promise of some real excitement.
