Life in Cheliax is never easy, especially when the Cheliaxians assume that if it's born from humans but isn't human, it's a tiefling.
Lyall was one of these children. In childhood, it seemed everything was given to Lyall on a silver platter, being born amungst the nobility and royality of Cheliax, Lyall could be expected to live a life of luxary. But that life of nobility and luxury would not last for long. For Lyall's bloodline was cursed.
Though it is unknown just how many centuries ago the cursed blood was rich and pure, Lyall inherited traits that had not been seen in his family for as long as anyone could remember. When he reached maturity, his body changed, but not in a normal way, he developed more...bestial qualities, and on the night of a full moon, these qualities began to show themselves.
Fearful and enraged, Lyall's parents cast him out, out of fear that they would be suspected of raising a Tiefling, and at the same time, enraged that they had sired such a monster. But as scared and angry as Lyall's parents were, Lyall himself was even more so. Things were happening to him, things that he could neither explain nor understand, his body was changing and he no longer knew what he was.
And so he let the bestial instincts overwhelm him. For a time, he gave into his desires and lived as a creature in the shadows, feeding on violence and chaos. And for a time, he felt almost happy, almost.
Lyall knew that he wasn't a tiefling, but he knew not what exactly he was, nor did he have any luck convincing others that he was anything other then the infernal spawn of a Raksasha. But then he met someone more like himself, a Tien-sha woman by the name of Serenity, but she, like he was no ordinary person, she was a skinwalker, and as she explained, so was he.
For Lyall's blood was tainted not by the infernal blood of a Raksasha, but by a much more primal and animistic creature, a lycanthrope, specifically, a werewolf. Serenity explained to him that his abilities and his powers were nothing to be afraid of, she taught him how to use his abilities and in time to accept himself.
She also taught him that as a witchwolf, he needed not the weapons of humans to defend himself, for he had access to claws, and razor sharp teeth with which to arm himself. And even when not shape-changed, she taught him to further his martial training to defend himself even without revealing his heritage.
For Lyall, this relationship was one of both tutelage and love. But as with all other good things in his life, that too came to an end. Serenity had to return to the east, Lyall wanted to go with her, but she refused him, and so he was once again alone...
