Being born the son of a noble has many advantages, not the least of which is access to resources that many do not. Lunarinus Scipio, only son of Tyrchicus and Gwyndvia Scipio enjoyed such access. Though Lunarinus parents were Chelaxian nobility, his father a landed knight, commander of the Worgrider legion no less, they defected to the side of liberty when Andoran fought for its freedom from Chelaxian rule. So, while their nobility means little now, the resources and access to them still mean a great deal. Tyrchicus made many friendships with craftsman, merchants, and traders, over the course of his life of nobility, and once established in Almas began amassing a large profit from his connections and wise spending. Lunarinus never lacked for anything, except motivation. He experienced boredom as only a pampered noble’s son could, training in the yard with master swordsman, training and riding his father’s domesticated Worgs, visiting their agricultural holdings, sailing to various ports on his father’s ships. None of which made him feel alive. Then as he was walking through one of the seedier warehouse districts of Almas, after checking over a recent shipment of mead from Varisia, he saw two scoundrels shaking out the coffers of a cloistered cleric of Sarenrae. Though he didn’t know why at the time, Lunarinus found he could not sit idly by and watch. He felt a stirring in him, unlike any time he could remember, and he immediately stepped into the fray to rescue the cleric and his wooden coffer box. Seeing perhaps an even better score the thugs drew swords themselves, not realizing that Lunarinus was well trained in the sword. He disarmed one with a quick strike, and after deflecting the slash of the other riposted just as he’d been taught. His longsword sliced cleanly into the man’s neck, and he fell to the ground immediately and began bleeding out. At the sight the first robber dashed off afraid. To Lunarinus dismay, the cleric did nothing except watch the man die, with a certain amount of satisfaction, no less. Afterwards the aging cleric, a man who had seen at least twice as many summers as his father, smiled benevolently at him. “You have done the Dawnflower’s bidding young one.” He said. “Sarenrae can always use more champions of her truth. Why don’t you come by the temple on Summer Street tomorrow, I believe Sarenrae will welcome you to her arms most willingly.”
And so she did, Lunarinus was indoctrinated into the faith more quickly than many in years, his ability to remember her holy text The Birth of Light and Truth and the edicts therein astonished his tutors. His only rival for martial training was the son of a local carpenter named, Vartog, and the two began an earnest competition for top honors in their training. In less than a year Lunarinus was named Paladin of Light, and began duties at the temple teaching other initiates. That is until just recently. Brother Skendar, the aging cleric he’d rescued just a year ago, who, it turned out was an advisor to the bishop, put Lunarinus name into the bishop’s ear to be part of an enjoy to Falcon’s Hollow. It seems the Valer’s are experiencing an outbreak of some sort. Bishop Trenysyr listened, and the envoy was sent. Of course when the son of a rich, ex-noble merchant goes into possible danger, no expense is spared, and though the church was said to have paid his fees, Lunarinus is sure the bodyguard Goruck, is actually along to protect him from harm on his parents' authority, and money. No matter, Lunarinus finds all joy in serving Sarenrae, and if he can bring the light and truth of her benevolent healing to Falcon’s Hollow, he will.
