About Luciano Thrice-Damned

"Sure I can tell you about him." The old bard eyed the drinks bought for him to loosen his tongue as he began his tale.
"The one they call The Thrice-Hated earns his name well. They say he was the son of two priests of Heironeus, goodly pious folk. They lived in a town on the coast known for good wine." At this obvious request, someone orders another drink for the man. "There was some darkness in Luciano's soul, something that tainted him from birth. He hid it well as a child they say. He was sweet and innocent, devoted to his community and loved by his parents. One day when he was 16 a band of raiders attacked the village." At this there was a general murmur of understanding among the crowd, many could sympathize with such an unfortunate occurence. "Feel no pity for this foul one, for when the raiders attacked, they say it was Luciano who opened the gates for them. There was a fierce battle, and the raiders were driven back, but the victory was hollow for the priests. Luciano had fought on the wrong side, and led the retreat. From then on, a sadness engulfed his parents.
For the next 40 years, the infamy of Luciano spread. He became a servant of the foul Iuz, and led many armies in destroying villages. He became a great lord in the Dark One's service. It seemed that he favored destroying temples. His name was cursed by many, and the blood of thousands was on his hands. He grew great in the arts of magic, and they say that he trafficked with demons most foul.
In time there arose a prophet of Heironeus called simply "Redemption". He preached of a great crusade against the evil of Luciano. In the meantime, Luciano himself was leading a huge army of orcs and foul men deep into the lands of decent folk, burning and slaying his way in a direct line to the place of his birth. He sacked the town by the coast, and slew his own father. It was while his army ransacked the town that the crusade of the Redemption arrived. They say that Luciano rode into battle with his own father's blood as warpaint, and the head of his own sister as a trophy. The battle went poorly for the crusaders, for the foul army of evil was bolstered by the powerful magics of the Thrice-Hated. In the midst of the battle, the prophet Redemption faced Luciano in single combat. Luciano was too powerful for the prophet and quickly dealt a mortal blow, but as he brought the prophet's body to his face to gloat, the priest of Heironeus revealed herself to be his mother. They say that he paused, and in a moment of great doubt, lost his very mind. The magics that had bolstered his army failed and the armies of righteousness swept them from the field. He was captured and taken to a great prison to await his judgement in the afterlife."
The old man leaned back, satisfied with his tale.
"If that were the end of the tale, I would not have asked it." spoke the listener as he pushed another drink in front of the old bard.
"Well, they do say there is more. They say that Luciano was taken to a great prison, and through powerful magics he was severed forever from the arcane. His mind broken, he spent the next 70 years screaming out bloody vengeance. The foul magics that prolonged his life only served to prolong his misery in imprisonment. Then he went quiet. They say for two weeks he slept the restless sleep of one trapped in a nightmare. One night, the sky lit up as if it were day. Luciano simply walked out of the prison. Thay was years ago, but one still hears of him. They say he is obsessed with some prophesy no one else knows. They say even he doesn't remember it, but follows it nonetheless."
