Background:
It was a bright and sunny early morning as a midnight bird winged it's way through an idyllic countryside full of ostentatious houses, looking for something or perhaps someone. It wasn't long before the bird spotted a dark spec on the red tiled roof of one of the villa's and it made it's way towards what it surely knew was it's target.
A girl looked up from the book she was reading when a shadow flitted across it's surface, a somewhat startled look gracing her face. "Oh.. It's just a bird.." She pulled a small piece of bread from the basket next to her and offered it to the large raven that landed nearby. "It must be nice to be able to go wherever you want.."
The bird stared at the girl for a moment, seemingly judging her for treating him like a simple bird, didn't she know who he was?.. Of course she wouldn't! The bird rubbed it's brow with a wing elbow in a peculiarly intelligent fashion. "You know" It spoke "You don't have to stay here, I actually came to take you away to the House of Unyielding Radiance. It's a school specially tailored to children with.. Abilities like yours--"
At that point the child, who had been doing an awefully good impression of a flounder up till this point interrupted. "I can leave?! I have powers!?" She jumped up, slamming her book shut with a huge grin on her face. "Let's go!"
"Well.. That was easier than I was expecting." The crow muttered. "Since we will be seeing a lot of each other from now on, I might as well tell you my name. They call me the great Pazzuzu!" He pulled a tail feather and held it in his beak as he continued. "Now Louise, once you take this feather you'll we will be sent back to the school, are you ready?"
As the bird turned back to face the young girl after plucking his own feather, he noticed the dejected look on her face. She flopped back down onto the blanket laid out on the roof. "Louise is my sister..."
"Well f*+&.." Was all Pazzuzu could manage before he awkwardly flew off the side of the house and into an open window below.
