Using Pathfinder-only rules (no 3.x) is it possible to have two have two animal companions without an archetype making you split the levels?

I understand that when you are say, a paladin with a bonded horse, who then becomes (for argument's sake) a druid, that the class levels stack for both guys. ie a level 9 character (5 paladin/4 druid) has a level 9 horse.

However, is this true when accessing an animal companion through a feat? (technically two) such as Eldritch Heritige: Sylvan?

If this doesn't work, are there any ideas on how to have two full-level animal companions? I've got a character concept of a guy that just gets his pets to fight for him. (think animal tamer, or poke mon master without the sci-fi balls)

So I was playing around and built a character at level 3 that has 4 bite attacks and 2 claws (while raging) and was wondering, is this legal in PFS?

He's a Half-Orc Barbarian with the Toothy racial trait, Lesser Beast Totem, Extra Rage Power feat for Animal Fury, Razortusk feat, and Tusked trait.

I understand that some of these would be at a -5 but otherwise I still have a full round attack with 6 attacks. With the amulet of mighty fists, this gets crazy.

Is this a legal build? Why/Why not?

Toothy

Lesser Beast Totem

Animal Fury

Razortusk

Tusked

My group is doing a Rise of the Rune Lords campaign for the first time and I decided that I wanted to be the healer. I have been told that we will be playing up to level 20. At first I was going to make a cleric, but then I heard about the Life mystery for oracles and how great it is for healing.

So in short I just wanted to ask (assuming that I won't multiclass) who is the better combat healer between Clerics or Oracles of Life and why?
I've never played either class, nor have I been a healer so I want to try and be as good at it as I can.

I've always wanted to make a sorcerer in PFS with a pet (like an arcane druid) and now that I am, I find that I have no idea what will work as an effective one.

At first I was going to make it a wolf, but at 7th it becomes large and therefore won't always be viable/usable so I was considering other options.

In any event, I want a pet who can deal at least some damage whilst being able to survive. My main guy is going to be a bit of a buffer/battlefield controller so the pet will be my #1 source of damage and as such I am willing to change whatever is needed in order to make my pet better. (I am already taking Boon Companion)

The best thing that I could come us with on my own was the Deinonychus but I can't help but think that there must be better.

Any help will be appreciated, thank you. :)

I've played a fair bit of PFS but never past level 8 and I've never played a Pathfinder campaign that wasn't PFS, so basically I have very little insight on what makes sense past level 8 and I need all the help that I can get. I really don't know what to expect.
I was also thinking of multi-classing, since after level 7 there isn't anything useful from the Gunslinger class that I can see.

Anyway, I've joined this new campaign that we'll be starting in a few weeks wherein we've been told:

A) We'll be going to level 20.
B) To make a powerful, optimized character in order to survive.
C) Early firearms will be available.

As a result of this, I decided to make a pistolero gunslinger that fights using two double-barreled pistols. I use said pistols in order to maximize my damage potential per round. I won't have both of those at level 1, but I will between levels 3-5.

I should note at this point that since I will be playing a Tiefling with a tail, and that my GM has ruled that "free hand while reloading" rule can be accommodated with said tail.

Anyways, here's my build.

Tiefling (+2 DEX +2 INT -2 CHA) Pistolero Gunslinger EDIT: 20 point buy

STR 10 (with a MW backpack to aid in carrying stuff)
DEX 19 (increased to 20 at level 4)
CON 14 (I'll always be 20 feet or less from the baddies)
INT 09 (there are skillful people in the party so I don't think that I'll need many, increased at level 12)
WIS 15 (increased at level 8 to give more Grit/Will save)
CHA 07 (dump stat as it does nothing for my character type)

Feats
1) Point-blank shot
3) Rapid reload OR Two-weapon fighting
4) The other choice from level 3
5) Precise shot
7) Deadly Aim OR Rapid shot (which is better when hitting Touch AC?)
8) Weapon focus double-barreled pistol OR the other choice from level 5 if relevant.
9) - 20) ???

I'm not sure which skills to take either, and really any advice at all would be appreciated. I also have read the guides and even they seem to give the idea that multi-classing after level 7 (some even say 5) makes the most sense.

Sorry for the super-long post.

First off, this character is currently level 1 and in PFS.

I recently made a gnome cavalier (emissary archetype) that rides a wolf whilst charging with his lance, and I've run into a few problems/questions that I didn't even consider before building him.

1) Does a small-sized lance still have reach?

2) If it does have reach, do I hit first or does my mount?

3) If it does not have reach, then do I hit first or does my mount?

4) Also, if it does have reach and I have ride-by attack, does my mount ever need to attack at all or can I just charge at reach and keep going?

Thanks in advance.

Hello, I'd like to start this off by apologizing if this is in the wrong place. I wasn't sure where else to put it.

At any rate, earlier today I registered a new character (#6) named Alry and I made sure to select his faction as Grand Lodge. I checked everything twice before making him and yet no he's shown up as not only with the Andoran faction, but as if he had two sessions under his belt! Two sessions that actually belonged to another character of mine named Tarick (#5).

I have no idea as per how to fix this issue and any help would be appreciated.

Liberty's Edge

Ok, so I had this idea of a barbarian who's family was killed by some evil bandit sorcerers. The family then comes back as a bunch of spirits which guide him to power. My kinda spin on Conan, if you will.

The help that I need is with the actual build itself as I'm not 100% sure how effective it'll be, and I was looking for some input. This is for PFS.

Human Barbarian, Invulnerable Rager, Spirit totem
STR 19
DEX 14
CON 14
INT 7
WIS 7
CHA 14

Traits are Indomitable Faith (for the needed +1 will) and Reactionary. (+2 Init)

Feats at lvl 1 are:
Dodge and Power attack.

Planned Rage powers are:
Lesser Spirit Totem
Lesser Elemental Rage
Spirit Totem

Any input would be much appreciated, thank you.

I'm build a synthesist and I'm having a bit of difficulty understanding exactly what my stats will be. I bough Hero lab to fix this but it's not yet implemented, lol.

Anyhow, if the Eidolon is of the quadruped type, and he has a speed of 40 feet, do I get that speed when I merge with him? Or do I keep my base 30?

Also, I wanted to ask about my saving throws. If my Summoner has 14 CON and his Eidolon has 13 CON, then they have a +2 and +1 bonus respectively. The Summoner has a base fort (at level 1) of 0 and the Eidolon has a base of 2, what is my fort save when they are merged?

Liberty's Edge

My regular group and I were wondering something. Today we had played a mod wherein I was attacking a Naga that had concealment 20%. I rolled to hit him and I got a natural 20 on the die, but the concealment percent die roll failed. Does this matter?

What I mean is, since the rules state that a natural 20, although may not always crit, it ALWAYS hits? Is this the exception to the rule? Or is it that there's an exact order to when each die is rolled that I'm unaware of? (ie the percent die are rolled first, before my d20)

Thanks in advance. :)

Hello, I'm making a Master Summoner (in pathfinder society) and I've got a few questions regarding my Eidolon.

Firstly, is he even useful after I reach level 2? At level 2 the master summoner gets Augment Summoning for free, but this can only affect the Eidolon when summoned via the Summon Eidolon spell, and not the normal ritual. As a master summoner, my Eidolon will only get weaker in time too.

"Lesser Eidolon
A master summoner’s class level is halved (minimum 1) for the purposes of determining his eidolon’s abilities, Hit Dice, evolution pool, and so on. The eidolon otherwise functions as normal."

Further Info

Before I read this, I had intended for my Eidolon to be a great sword-wielding tank, but now I think that he'll be weak as a kitten by level 5 or so. Should I make him a skill monkey, a hp resource, or something else entirely? What use could he be? I'd like to optimize my summoner as much as I can, so if his Eidolon can still be useful I'd like him to be.

Liberty's Edge

Hello guys and gals, I'm making a new character (a Summoner) for pathfinder society and I was wondering if I could ask a few questions on how things work.

Firstly, I wanna state that I've got a couple of characters in PFS already, but they are all melee based.

I honestly cannot figure out how spells work. I mean, I get the effects and all, just not how you figure out the attacks. Do I use my CHA ability modifier + BAB vs their reflex save (like a fighter using a sword vs AC) or...?

Liberty's Edge

This came up in a game and Neither the GM nor I am certain, please help.

Do I get a reflex save every round with it or do I only get one if I choose to as a full round action.

The reason for asking this is because of the rules on being on fire.

Core rulebook page 444 VS Bestiary page 298.

Liberty's Edge

A question involving Detect Evil came up in my group involving the difference between an evil aura and an evil intent.

The exact wording in question is: (core rulebook p267)

Animals, traps, poisons, and other potential perils are not evil,
and as such this spell does not detect them. Creatures with actively
evil intents count as evil creatures for the purpose of this spell.

So, if a neutral person is doing a bad thing, they pop up with this or...?

Liberty's Edge

Hello, I'm semi new to this game (I have one fighter at level 3) and I'm trying to build a "Masochist Tank". I was wondering if I could get a little input to see I'm understanding how to build a decently optimized pc (player character).
Any input would be appreciated, but I'm mostly worried about my spell/weapon bond choices, and the loss of saves and AC (as in, I think that I might have too little AC & saves).

If you're wondering what I mean by "Masochist Tank", I mean someone who deals enough damage to attract attention and then takes the damage (while healing himself) for the party.

Side Note: sorry for the lengthy post, lol.

I've read Thalin's and Cryptic's guides already.

Also, I should mention that this guy is for the Pathfinder's society and therefor uses the rules therein. (Example: 20 point buy)

So here's my build:
Human Paladin level 1

STR=19 (17+2 human bonus). DEX=10. CON=14. INT=7. WIS=7. CHA=16.

His HP is 13.

Feats are: Power attack and Weapon Focus Falchion.

I have a Falchion [Attack=6], scale mail [AC=15], and a holy symbol (silver).

My saves are: Fort=4, Reflex=1, Will=1. Even though I know that they'll get a +3 boost next level, I'm not sure that these are good enough.

My traits are Deft Dodger (Reflex+1) and Indomitable Faith (Will+1).

Skills that have been given a rank are: Diplomacy 7, Sense Motive 2, and either Handle Animal 7 or Heal 2 (see below).

I have also been debating on his Divine Bond (yes, I know that's at level 5) in that I'd either get a "mount" bond like a Boar to help me flank and do damage (not sure how handling an animal works mechanically ie attacking on the same turn as my pc), or I'd get the weapon bond to add Keen to my already crazy crit range. I'm also assuming that by level 5 that I'd have a +1 weapon.

And lastly, the spells that that I was thinking about were mostly (as I see it) tank spells ie Knight's calling, Challenge Evil.
