About Huo Shan
Many years ago the monks of a monastery dedicated to Yamatsumi on the eastern face of Mount Shibotai (Minata, Tian Xia) found a babe on their doorstep in the morning following a frightful earthquake. The child had skin the color of the mountain and the monks revered him as a gift from Yamatsumi himself. They named him Houshan or "Volcano".
The boy was raised in the ways of the monks, and quickly showed natural affinity for both earth and fire. As his abilities grew he often participated in the monks outings to near by villages to restore balance after too much "dissolution" had been disseminated throughout the population by the wayangs.
His thirst for knowledge and enlightenment was fueled by his human caretakers, whom he quickly outlived. A group of travelers known as "Pathfinders" sought refuge at the monastery against a winter storm, and Houshan became curious about the outside world.
Houshan first traveled to ancient Osirion in which he spent decades underground learning about the ancient culture.
Houshan has dark black skin that appears obsidian in the light with rocky outcroppings. Between his appearance and awkwardness due to years of solitude he is rather inept in social situations.
