About Leona Jakobs

"Please don't make me use this thing, it's really heavy." - Leona Jakobs

Bot Me:

Social Encounters:
Leona is quiet and curious, she isn't one for small talk but isn't afraid of asking too many questions when people start making unconfirmed claims. Anyone that tries to threaten or bully someone around her will almost always face an intimidate check as she comes to defend the person, that said she isn't stupid - she won't charge a dragon because they made a snide remark.

[dice=Intimidate]1d20+6[/dice] VS 10 + the target’s Hit Dice + the target’s Wisdom modifier.

Leona is also a little to trusting to people that act nice to her, its rare to happen to her so she tends to cling to those people.

Notes:
• Leona speaks Common, Abyssal, and Goblin currently. I plan to continue investing in Linguistics taking languages as needed or languages from common worshipers of Lamashtu to show the continued work on her mother's notes.

Combat Encounters:
In dangerous areas Leona will try to save her bloodrage for serious threats. She has a very 'cut the head off the snake' mentality so generally targets whoever looks like the leader, if she can safely do so.

Once she gets Arcane Strike at level 5 she'll try to keep it up every round and after picking up Vital strike at level 7 her primary goal in combat is to land a vital strike and then 5ft step away if possible to deny enemies full attacks on her.

She will almost always pick Blur from her bloodline until level 8 when she will take displacement and the most fitting for the situation from her level 4. At level 16 she will most often use transformation after self buffing with enlarge person as a free action from her greater rage.

Her spells are mostly utility and buff spells that should be used outside of combat or on round 1.

Butchering Axe:
[dice=To Hit]1d20+4-1[/dice]
[dice=Damage]3d6+4[/dice]

While Bloodraging:
[dice=To Hit]1d20+6[/dice]
[dice=Damage]3d6+5+2[/dice]

Power attack adds +3 damage per 4 levels, and arcane strike will add 1d6 which is multiplied with vital strike attacks after she picks up blooded arcane strike at level 9.

Notes:
• As an Urban bloodrager Leona suffers none of the negative side effects of raging and will generally pump all of the +4 into strength.

• Leona will rarely use power attack outside of bloodrage unless the enemies has been easy to hit already, when in bloodrage she will use power attack almost every round.

• Once activated Leona will generally stay in bloodrage until combat is over or she exhausts hers rage - she will use Heart Of The Fields as soon as she drops rage if combat is still ongoing.

• If Leona uses her bloodrage to improve her strength she can get it high enough that the -2 penalty on the butchering axe will not apply.

Alignment: Neutral Good, growing up a Black Sheep in the town Leona has never really respected the rules of a society that shunned her but she knows breaking them will generally cause more problems than it's worth - that said she will still try to do what she thinks is the right thing...most of the time.

Leona is light-skinned with brown eyes and dark red hair that she keeps pulled into a tight braid. Her time working at the Scarnetti Grain Mill has left her with a toned and muscular form but unlike her Ulfen ancestors she is rather small statured standing at 5’7.

Because of the stigma many of the townsfolk have about Leona she generally keeps to herself, only really leaving her house for work or special occasions. She can be quick to anger, especially when threatened or bullied, but also tends to attach herself to the few that don’t view her as a cursed child.

-----------------------------------------
History:
-----------------------------------------

Sins Of The Mother:

Leona’s mother was an Ulfen woman that stood a head taller than most of the other women in town - She had few friends, never answered a question directly, and always stuck to the shadows. Not many people in the town trusted the mysterious woman and rumors quickly spread as people claimed they’d heard her whispering in strange languages, seen scars on her arms that looked self-inflicted, and caught her casting spells in secret. Her sudden pregnancy only made thing worse. Who would bed someone like her - Certainly no one in town - did they sneak in, how had no one noticed? As she continued to develop further into her pregnancy she began to act strange. Her eyes were always heavy with black circles as if she’d hadn’t slept the night before and she was constantly looking over her shoulder as if her pregnancy had made her a target, this behavior continued until she died giving birth to her daughter, Leona.
------------------------------------------------------------

When she was first born many of the townsfolk shunned Leona - associating her with mother’s reputation and calling her a cursed child but Layla, a cleric of Shelyn that lived near the chapel, took pity on Leona and decided to raise her. Despite the judgement of those that had believed Leona was the result of some failed cultist ritual Layla cared for the child as if she was one of her own. As Leona grew older she began to show signs of arcane power, Layla tried to teach her to channel it like her own divine magic but Leona’s magic was much harder to bridle, this made the town even more cautions of her. Layla continued to raise and teach Leona until the great fire of the The Late Unpleasantness, when Layla died trying to save those stuck in the chapel.

After mourning Layla there was only one place left for Leona, her birth-mothers old home just outside the walls of Sandpoint. When she arrived the building was falling apart from years of neglect and the interior had been mostly stripped clean by thieves but it was till a home. Leona was able to find a job working the fields at the Scarnetti Grain Mill and slowly began to repair the house with the money she earned, it was during these repairs that she found the hidden compartment in a false floorboard. The space contained hundreds of loose paper each cover in mad scribbling that looked to be a mixture of over dozens of languages some even changing mid sentence. To most these papers would have likely just been dismissed as some lunatics scribbling but to Leona they were the last connection she had to her birth-mother, she became obsessed with trying to decipher the texts and most of her days began consisting of waking up, working the fields, and returning home to continue working on the pages.

When the rumors that Titus Scarnetti had become involved with criminal gangs began to take root he approached Leona with a job offer - he had heard talk of her from the workers are the grain mill and wanted her to become one of his guards. Due to the mystery surrounding her mother and the awakening of her arcane powers many people in the town still considered her a ‘cursed child’ - someone to avoid at all costs - but that kind of reputation was just what Titus needed right now. At first Leona didn’t like the idea of being his lap dog but she couldn’t help feel a tinge of kinship towards the man being scorn by rumors so she accepted. Titus’s plan to use her as a scare tactic became obvious when he equip her “axe” nearly as tall as she was insisted that if she did her job properly she wouldn't need to swing it anyway.
