Leon Gilham grew up in the Brevoy the eldest of 5. His father was a small time charlatan selling coloured water as potions; his mother was a seamstress for the local nobility, the house of Lebeda. At the age of 16 Leon was training to become a butcher when his father conned the wrong people. At first the thugs only wanted their money back, beaten to an inch of his life; Leon’s father paid them back. They came back a week later and did the same. After a year of abuse, the Gilham family was out of money to pay the thugs. This time they didn’t stop their attack. Leon’s father died beaten up to a pulp.
Upon hearing the news, Leon grabbed two knifes from the butcher’s shop and tracked the thugs to an inn a day’s ride from his home town. He waited until they had drunk themselves unconscious before slitting their neck open. Unfortunately things didn’t go as well as he had hoped, since one of the town guards saw him murdering the thugs and chased him out into the wilderness. There he was captured by bandits. Having no money and being young Leon managed to convince them to let him join. He spent the next 5 years with his new bandit family, learning to live of the land and to hide his weapons well. His weapon of choice was the dagger, a simple weapon that was easy to hide. One day his bandit brothers went out for the morning hunt, they never returned. Leon searched for a week, but only found the bloodied rags that once belonged to them.
He returned to his family a man, a bandit, only to find that his mother had died of a broken heart. She believed that he had died at the hands of the thugs. His brothers told him that he had no place to come back to, nor was he welcomed back, his sisters only wept. Having no home to return to, Leon’s only option was to make his way in life alone, he left for the Stolen Lands to make his new future.
