As much as I hate to say it, it's been a little over two months now since we've heard anything from Fiendish. I still really, really hope that everything is okay and that she'll return to the forums at some point but I think we're at a point where we'll need to be deciding what to do with the game in the meantime. I know Flynn said he might be able to take over running and I'm still amenable to that if he's still willing and able to do it. My own plate is too full right now to consider taking over a longer-term game as a GM or I would've made a similar offer. Another option, much as I hate to say it, is that we could let the game go on hiatus until either Fiendish returns or one of us finds the time to pick it up and give it some sort of finish. Recruiting a GM from outside the group is another option but I'm not sure how willing someone would be to take over a homebrew with no access to any of the notes and other world building that Fiendish did in the background. ![]()

Although I'm loathe to write Fiendish off just yet, I wouldn't be averse to you picking this up if it comes down to it. I have no idea what sort of things/ending Fiendish had in mind for the game but I'd definitely love to have some sort of conclusion to our story and (having been playing in one of your Carrion Crown games) I feel confident that you could get us there :) ![]()

"We have no way of knowing just what manner of dead are down there," Lenneth points out. "Maybe they're all just groaners and bones but there could be stronger ones down there too! And we've seen that sometimes the dead come back with most of their wits and tricks still intact; who's to say that there aren't any down there that could shoot us down or take to the air themselves?" ![]()

"Every groaner and corpse within a hundred miles must be down there," Lenneth whispers, her jaw slightly agape at the sight. "Feldus is right, we can't ever hope to sneak our way past all of them...especially if there's cultists down there too..." she continues, trying not to let herself fall into despair. Here they were, so close, and now the fortress may as well have lay on the far side of the moon. "V-Valex...is Feldus right? Do you think there'd be another way inside?" ![]()

"The shelter idea sounds like a good one," Lenneth agrees. "Maybe Lilith can rig something up for us again like she did that one night." The next morning, Lenneth dutifully sets about doing what she can to forage and scavenge for food during the group's journey... Survival: 1d20 ⇒ 10

Lenneth laughs at Aura's comment, happy to find her in somewhat-good spirits despite all that's happened. "All plus a new friend," she smiles at Echoes. "I think he...she?...will be a big help to us!" When Valex offers the sealed box, she looks at it with a mixture of curiosity and wariness. "Do you think opening it is going to blast us with positive energy again?" ![]()

"Well I didn't mean we should rest here right now," Lenneth responds, slightly annoyed. "I meant that this is a place that could be used as a hideout, a stop-over place to rest, if it weren't for the demon down there. Definitely not as a place to settle though; there's no water or anything else nearby even if the demon weren't an issue." She pauses. "But maybe it's because I don't feel any safer under open skies," she adds, thinking back on the many, many nights spent in the wilderness, hoping and praying that nothing stumbled upon them in the dark - or that if it did, someone would spot or hear it in time. ![]()

Lenneth carefully takes the armor and looks at it before sliding it on over her clothes. She'd never worn armor in her life and she marvels at how natural it now felt to have it encasing her. "Well, this will certainly come in handy," she laughs before looking around at the rest. "Is that everything, you think? If it is, we should probably get back to the surface." ![]()

"WHAT?" Lenneth says, shaking her head as the ringing persists in her ears though thankfully the flash of light has faded. "YOU NEED A LIGHT!? THAT WASN'T ENOUGH FOR YOU?" After a few more moments though, the ringing finally begins to subside as well. "Oh no, you were asking if we're alright," Lenneth says, staring at the revealed items with wonder. "I'm fine...I feel great, actually! What was that flash of light?" Spellcraft: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22 ![]()

For a moment, Lenneth considers the demon's offer. If the creature had been summoned after the Harvest somehow, then perhaps other summonings were still possible. Maybe the world wasn't entirely cut off after all. But then she catches herself. What good would knowing the answer do? If the gods can't, or won't, reverse what's been done, then what makes you think that you could do it? And dealing with dark powers is how the world got into this state in the first place. No need to make it worse. "Right. Best not to listen," she agrees quietly and turns to follow the others back outside the room. ![]()

Kn. Planes (Nabasu Demon?): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 "Hey wait...how is summoning even possible?" Lenneth whispers, looking perplexed. "When the veil came down, didn't it cut off all contact across all the realms - not just with the gods?" "I mean, I suppose it might've been summoned before the Harvest but still...something doesn't seem right about any of this." ![]()

Once, there might've been a time when the unnatural darkness that loomed before them would have frightened Lenneth. But now with her vision now empowered by her dark gift, she stares into the blackness unafraid. Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14

"If we think we can dispel or disarm it somehow then I think we should try," Lenneth agrees. "Or at least have a closer look at it first and then decide if we want to try and disarm it now or try looking around more."

"Yuck," Lenneth wrinkles her nose in disgust as she explains what the kukri does. "I'm not surprised to find an agent of the Way carrying something like this around. At least the pouch and the supplies inside it are useful. And the damned fireball beads, too," she grumbles, rubbing at her arm where a burn had been not too long ago. ![]()

"Another cache? Good, then hopefully coming down here will have been worthwhile after all," Lenneth agrees. As Feldus begins searching the corpse, she works on detecting if there are any additional magical auras - on the corpse or elsewhere in the vicinity.

With their elusive foe now illuminated and possibly cornered, Lenneth aims to make sure that he, she, they, whatever, stays put. Calling upon her shadow magic, she attempts to pin the robed figure's very shadow to floor and anchor it in place.

"This is getting old in a hurry," Lenneth fumes as their invisible foe continues to elude them. But if we can find them, then we've won. They wouldn't go to all this trouble hiding if they thought they could challenge us directly. As she looks around though, another thought rears its ugly head. Unless they're trying to wear us down, first... Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 ![]()

With one creature destroyed and another held firmly in place, Lenneth directs all three of her summoned chains to continue pummeling the undead that she managed to bring to the ground. Barbed Chain #1 vs. Figure #1: 1d20 + 5 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 3 = 25
