About Lapin
Lapin Argent is a native of Kenabres in Mendev. The city lies close to the Worldwound, and hosts crusades into that demon-infested territory. Lapin is the second son of Canis Argent, a paladin of Iomedae who has achieved some renown among the Everbright Crusaders in Kenabres. Canis’s fondest wish is for his sons to follow in his footsteps; and indeed Josper, the elder son, seems well on his way to eclipse both Canis’s martial abilities and his fame.
Lapin, on the other hand, seems unlikely to measure up to the bar set by either his brother or his father. While not exactly rebellious as a youth, he had a tendency toward impulsive behaviors which frequently got him into trouble. He didn’t seem to take his martial training seriously, and he preferred to socialize with the servants and townsfolk rather than to study strategy and tactics with the crusaders. He was unable to resist an opportunity for a practical joke, and his deadpan joking made Canis and many of his friends uncomfortable.
So not knowing what else to do with him, his father eventually packed Lapin off to a monastery, hoping that he would learn some discipline from the monks, or at least be kept away from the distractions of city life. For three years, Lapin spent several months each year at the monastery. The rest of the time he spent back in Kenabres with his father, while his father tried to assess his “quality”.
While Lapin did indeed seem to have been learning more self-control, his irrepressible wit now alternated with periods of sullenness. Canis decided that perhaps Lapin had simply been too sheltered, and a dose of cold hard reality might teach him some responsibility. Since Lapin didn’t seem ready for the Worldwound, Canis decided to send him on a different sort of Crusade: the Silver Crusade of the Pathfinder Society.
