Backstory:
As a young man, Lanval encountered the faith of Sarenrae. Though it was considered heretical in his native Taldor, he read "The Birth of Light and Truth" and was captivated, becoming an acolyte of the Dawnflower. Thinking to bring her warmth to frigid lands, he traveled to the farthest realm he'd ever heard of, The Land of the Linnorm Kings and preached her kindness to any who would listen.
One who would very definitely not listen was a Winter Witch of Irrisen. Though he never learned this terrifying figure's name, when he attempted to speak with the beautiful white lady about the joys and kindness of Sarenrae, he barely escaped with his life. Touched somehow by her cold, he fled south, returning eventually to his home in central Taldor, praying to the goddess that he never again encountered the fell hoar-witches again.
