Male Human Barbarian 3

So is this game officially dead now?

Male Human Barbarian 3

I know it didn't suceed anyway, but just to clear things up, was the attack a touch attack due to Landis not acting yet? If so then the Uncanny Dodge ability, would have kicked in, and made Landis AC 18.

Landis steps sideways away from the heat of the spell, and swings Demon's Fate at Stirge 10.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 Warhammer attack

1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Warhammer Damage

Male Human Barbarian 3

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 Initiative

Landis Reflex save: 1d20+3

Suddenly, Landis finds himself covered in gooey, slimy grease as well.

"Quist give no more help to Angry Man."

"Fine". "I can do without your kind of help".

"And if you've been all around the world, and seen all kinds of customs, then you've only proven that you set out to intentionally antagonize us". "For if you knew our ways you wouldn't approach us like you did.

Landis takes a blind desperate swing at the worrisome pest.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 Perception

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 Warhammer Attack

Lilo slowly lowers to the ground (not the river). The buzzing sound is getting louder and closer.

Landis feels wind in his face, and the high-pitched voice seems to be right in front of him. It laughs delightedly. "This one IS funny! This one think Quist stupid! Quist like this one, even though he very angry and rude."

** spoiler omitted **

The voice turns back to Landis. "There are many dangers, Angry One, and some are near at hand. Quist come to you in friendship and fun, and for asking of help, but Quist not ask help of those not able to give help. Distractions are many. If one Quist distract too much, maybe you not be helping Quist."

"And maybe we help those who come to us in friendship, and greeting, not tormenting and tricking", Landis says lowering his Cold Iron Warhammer, realizing that the fey found this metal to be intimidating.

Nazard wrote:
"Strange. Quist do nothing to hurt you. Just silly things. Why you swing sword around?"

"Quist is unwise, and does not see how what he does now, influences what happens in the future". "If you keep us from our necessary rest, or draw our attention away, then danger which threatens both us and yourself can be missed". "You pranks may seem harmless to you, but they both aggravate, and can be dangerously distracting to us". "So in a word...cut it out, and find someone else to pick on".

Quist only further proves his ignorance and lack of focus for thinking that this hammer is a sword".

Male Human Barbarian 3

Angry now, Landis begins to thrash around the campsite swinging Demon's Bane about hoping to hit something.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 perception

Male Human Barbarian 3

"Let me try". Landis exclaims reaching for the fishihg equipment.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 Survival.

Male Human Barbarian 3

Watch schedule sounds good to me. And we are here to explore not cruise, so sure...let's head inland.

Male Human Barbarian 3

"By land or by water matter not to me". "I am ready to explore". "This is why I came on this merry chase".

Male Human Barbarian 3

Are we going to try and keep this game going? Seems to have slowed beyond a crawl.

Male Human Barbarian 3

Also I'll be travelling the next week and a half. Should be able to post about every day, but mostly later in the evenings, so don't let me hold things up. If you need to DMPC character feel free to do so to move things along.

Male Human Barbarian 3

"Yeah". "Now that we know about big hungry bird...we can stay away from him". "I'm all up for some more exploration".

Male Human Barbarian 3

Internet was down in hotel last night. Should be able to catch up tonight. Feel free to DMPC me if not.

Male Human Barbarian 3

"Well at least we know what happened to them". "We can now warn the others to stay away from here". "As long as Thunderwings hunts only crabs we should be safe enough".

Male Human Barbarian 3

After seeing the big bird go airborn again, Landis reluctantly releases his dinner from the net.

"You can say that again", Landis quips as he heads for the cover of the forest.

Male Human Barbarian 3

Landis stares at the bird in great wonder...his captured crab an afterthought. He looks at the bird, then at the remains...

"Well I believe we've solved the mystery of how Neisen died anyway" .

Male Human Barbarian 3

I'm with Finn". "There are too many of them and more coming".

Male Human Barbarian 3

When Landis gets within reach of the bottom, he will give up the full defensive, and try to help drag the net and crab ashore as well.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22 CMB Raging to drag net.

Male Human Barbarian 3
Nazard wrote:

CMB Drag check for Finn: 1d20+8 Finn heaves on Landis, but loses his footing somewhat on the sandy bottom, and only gets the barbarian hauled in 5-feet. Landis is able to total defense, however, and maintain his hold on the net. Can Landis free the Crab, or is it coming along for the ride?

Crab 3 swims up and attacks Landis: 1d20+4 Miss!
Crab 4 does the same: 1d20+4 Another miss!
Crab 5 attacks the frog: 1d20+4 Miss!

The frog then vanishes!
Up next: Noche'Wa, Crab 1, Hickory, Lilo, Finn

MAP UPDATED

I'm not sure if Landis can free the crab or not. DM's call...but if not he'll simply drag it along as well.

Male Human Barbarian 3

Landis allows himself to be pulled back in. keeping hold of his valuable net if possible.

Guys, I've lost my internet access. That condition should last for a week or two - I don't know how long really. I may be able to post sporadically, but it would be best for my character to become NPC temporarily.

As of this morning he has posted that the Internet is down again, and might be down for up to a month. Some Infrastructure issue.

Landis turns at Rommin's cry. "Well come on in yourself"! "You can't stay out there forever, and who knows how many more of these things might show up when they hear the dinner bell". Landis will stand and go full defensive until Rommin begins to move off the rock towards the shore, his net rope still in hand, and held tight.

Between his spear and his horse, Noche'Wa is able to literally crack the crab's shell and rip the giant crab apart. Crab 2 is very dead.

Crab 1 gives up trying to escape from the net and attacks Rommin as he bobs back to the surface.
Claw 1: 1d20+4-2; damage: 1d4+2
Claw 2: 1d20+4-2; damage: 1d4+2
Both claws create nasty gashes in Rommin's shoulders.

Hickory continues to sing inspirationally (don't forget your bonuses, everybody!:)). She wades in up to her waist.

Lilo puts a mage armour spell on himself.

Up next: Finn, Warg, Rommin

MAP UPDATED

Landis was actually attempting to drag the creature upon the rock so that he could deal with it, not throw it there and leave himself in the water. Did that happen?

Male Human Barbarian 3

Landis attempts to wrest the crab onto the rock.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 CMB (Raging)

Male Human Barbarian 3

Landis is waiting to see what the results of Rommin's leap are before acting. He would normally attempt to pull the crab up on the rock where he can dispatch it.

Male Human Barbarian 3

Hotel has internet issues. Should be back to posting by Friday. Thanks for keeping me going :-)

Male Human Barbarian 3

Hey everybody. I'll be on a 9-day business trip starting this afternoon, so posting will be spotty. Still should be able to post every day, but feel free to NPC my character to move things along.

Chances are very good that, given that the crab is underneath the surface of the water, the net would not be very effective, unless it's weighted. You can change the action if you like.

I researched this on the internet and found the following as a description:

Gladiator Weapons - Iaculum
The iaculum was a weighted casting net - the weapon of a retiarius

If you still want to rule it is ineffective then Landis will wait for the crab to come closer to the surface before casting.

Dang it I spent a feat on this net, I'm going to use it :-)

Male Human Barbarian 3

Landis will attempt to make a net attack on one of the crabs.

Spoiler:

Are these tracks through the water like those made by crabs?

Landis would have had his net and Scimitar for this trip, leaving his hammer and shield on shore.

Landis leads the main party, trying to keep an eye on the path taken by the scouts, and not get too far behind.

Male Human Barbarian 3

Landis approaches Noche'Wa. "I owe you an apology". "Somehow my mind was clouded into thinking that you had attacked me". "I assure you it was nothing personal, and I now know that these things somehow clouded my mind". "This new land has many dangers that I'm not familiar with".

Male Human Barbarian 3

Landis tries to maneuver so that he can get a clear shot at the creature without hitting one of his comrades. "Well let's see if this is indeed a magical bow".

Feathered Death 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 includes -4 for firing into Melee
/ 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 Damage

Male Human Barbarian 3

I must say I don't remember the bow at all. Is it a +1 Longbow?

Landis shakes his head, wondering what he is doing over here while his friends are getting killed. He overhears the hubub, and shakes his head in doubt.

"This bow work better than my hammer...I doubt it...but they seem insistant"

Landis will string the bow, and nock an arrow, moving to get a clear shot.

Landis will head for the hills, but won't go too far, just in case nobody else runs away...after all, somebody must be around to carry the bodies back...or maybe somebody will find a way to fight them.

Male Human Barbarian 3

Seeing the party is now free of the embrace of the spirits charm, Landis heads towards the way they came in.

"Hurry this way"! "I have been sorely wounded, and we cannot fight these things". "We must come up with a strategy to defeat them, or appease them".

He then glances at Noche'Wa. "Leave the betrayer to deal with his kin". "It is obvious he is in league with them".

He then begins his retreat, making sure the others are following. If Noche'Wa tries to follow, Landis will stop and try to keep him from doing so.

Male Human Barbarian 3

Seeing that his weapons have no effect on the creatures, Landis decides to get himself and his dumfounded friends out of here. The ghost of the girl might have made things difficult, but these apparitions looked dangerous.

Landis takes off at a full retreat. He will run to Rommin and try to grab him and pull him with him.

"Come on"! "Quit staring, and let's get out of here"!

Male Human Barbarian 3

Did Landis make it out of the hut before all this?

Male Human Barbarian 3
Nazard wrote:

The shadows inside the hut seem to writhe and move about. Landis (and those just outside the hut) hear a faint babbling and whining sound.

There is no back way, although it would be easy enough to make one in the decaying hide walls.

Landis makes an exit through the back of the hut, and looks for a place to take cover while he assesses his injuries.

He then looks back at the betraying native, and screams at him from his concealed position. "Put down that bow, and come and fight me like a real man". "Even with the arrows you shot into my back I can take care of the likes of you".

Male Human Barbarian 3

Wondering why this stranger has turned on him, Landis dives into the open doorway, to keep the man from shooting him more. "Betrayal"! "Betrayal"! "We have been deceived"!..."To Arms" Landis screams at the top of his lungs, as he dives to the side out of the doorway.

Then feeling about for the arrows in his back, he stumbles towards the back of the hut, looking for a back way out. Hammer firmly clenched in his hand, he looks for somewhere to take cover and looks about frantically trying to figure out what is happening.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 Perception.

Male Human Barbarian 3

Landis heads towards the Western Hut. "Well there was something either coming in or exiting this Hut". "I'll check it our".

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 Perception

Male Human Barbarian 3

The next morning a bleary eyed, and nicked and bruised up Landis comes to the morning fire, with his travelling gear, armor and weapons at hand. Looking at the rest of the troop, he simply states.

"I believe in this instance the living might have to wait till we make peace with the dead".

Male Human Barbarian 3

Landis still excited after all the commotion, decides to take first watch. Everytime he starts to relax he hears excitement from somewhere else in the camp. After responding to several "weird dreams" from his companion he finally tries to find somewhere protected, but away from the night dreams of his companions to sleep.

Male Human Barbarian 3

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19 perception

Landis wipes a stray tear from his eye at the surreal beauty of his song, and starts as the camp comes awake. He grabs up Demons Fate, and looks around hurriedly.

Male Human Barbarian 3

As the camp settles down for the night Landis thinks of his old times, and songs that his grandmother used to sing. He begins to sing in his deep voice.

1d20 ⇒ 20 Perform singing

Male Human Barbarian 3

Tired of the bickering, and not really caring about it Landis seeks out Lord Brycen for a quick word.

"Perhaps I should take a few men, and head a bit South to check on the tardy group". "They should be back by now...maybe they're having some trouble".

Male Human Barbarian 3

Hey guys. I’ll be able to post (Hopefully) this week, but on a business trip to PR. Don’t let me hold up the game however just GM NPC the characters if you need to move forward before I can post.

Male Human Barbarian 3

"I could help you hold that, but it might cause trouble". "If I was over there gathering berries or fishing from the bank, and someone stole my boat, I might swing first and ask questions later". "If you want you guys could tie a rope to me and I could take off my armor and try to swim over and check things out first".

Male Human Barbarian 3

Landis joins the climbers...taking 10 for a 16
