We did put on a good showing, maybe even decent?

Hope that both GraveScratches and Radin are okay though.

I'm still about, as well. ;) I've no problem with our characters being "botted" during a combat encounter- or at least, just mine if nobody else is comfortable with it. Of course, we aren't on any strict timetable compared to say, an organized play tournament. ;)

So in case it wasn't made clear in the earlier post, Lambri will take two move actions in this present round; hopefully she will reach the third unoccupied knight that is on her, Mihai's, and Mila's side.

Noting that the other three knights are opting to target both Radin and Mystery with their arrows, Lambri hopes that Shiruba and the mounted duo will be able to deal with Killian before the trio of knights make their next shots.

Upon rechecking the rules for fatigue, I seemed to have gotten it wrong; it wasn't -2 on attacks like I originally thought, it's more like -2 on str, which makes it a -1 on attacks instead plus no charging/running. Will apply the corrected stuff in the later attacks rather than trying to retcon any attacks already posted.

Apologies about the Easter weekend delays here. Will presume that Killian's bright-shines will be descriptive rather than part of the combat sequence, unless you wish to have us roll our saves.

Squinting her eyes against the bright light emanating from Killian, Lambri keeps her bow upraised in such a position so that she could shade her field of vision against the bright shine. By the Spirits of the Tonah, I can only hope that accursed brightness will hamper our foes as much as it does to us....

When Mila unleashes her blade-born angel against Killian, in addition to the elderly Shiruba rushing towards Killian in very much a non-elderly, physically solid but measured steps of movement, the Wolf-Blooded grimly notes how organized that Killian's minions seemed to have capitalized upon the chaos of battle by splitting their numbers in half with almost a calculated approach although Killian himself seems to have been caught slightly off-guard by the young knight's angel.

Lambri will hastily slide her bow forward against her shoulder, the string of the bow acting as a fastening strap against her armor as a move action, so that it will not interfere against the use of her wolf-fanged falchion as she unsheathes it and starts to move purposefully towards the three knights that have closed in upon Mila and the empty space where Shiruba once stood.

Lambri will move towards the knight that attempted to catch Shiruba so that he won't try to either join in on the attacks towards Mila or seek another target like Mihai.

Lambri fires off an arrow at an approaching knight (GraveScratches' choice on a knight other than Killian himself), taking care not to fire into the path of the charging Champion of Balance and his faithful Metara mount.

Firing an arrow, fatigued: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 9 - 2 = 13.

If hit, does Arrow damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8. 19 out of 20 arrows left in quiver.

Not to ruin some of the mystery but Radin is definitely not above acting nonchalant and casual even if he has no idea what is going on or just happened. He has learned that jumping to reactions is a bad way to go about life. The way he is reacting to Killian is likely to be very unique in general to sentient beings but murderous Saraten Inquisitors are going to be the primary target, outside of undead, for Smite Fallen.

No worries, Radin; Killian's definitely a baddie to be put down. ;)

Apologies on my end for posting a bit later than usual- you're doing just fine though, GraveScratches; the stabbing did come as a bit of a surprise to me as well- but all blame for that could be laid at Killian's (dirty) feet though.

I do nominate, though, that at some point, we should get into the manor and rescue Shiruba's newly designated "Love Interest", the Calivani old lady. :)

Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20.

Lambri, having never sensed the foul deed coming, could only gape in surprise as the blonde murderer does away with Tyrus. Wheeling around to aim her bow at the blonde youth, Lambri notes with grim satisfaction that Shiruba managed to pull the mad youth away from the Alvanen Manor Lord and Binder. At that moment, the Wolf-Blooded notes Killian trying to take advantage of the chaos caused by the still gibbering blonde youth and wheels back around to take aim at the approaching knights.

Will shoot at the knights on their approach upon her round until they get into melee range, then it'll be falchion-time.

The Knights will pull up short. You can see the misting breath of the horses, and can almost hear the hearts hammering in their chests after the hard ride. The man in the front will lift up the face of his helmet revealing a worn looking Alvanen man. His hair is streaked with gray, his face pockmarked and winkled, and his eyes are small black orbs hidden within his flattened features.

"Tyrus, I knew you would bring the sky down upon our heads." The man laughs, a gurgling sickening thing that reveals the plague in his lungs. "At least two northerners in this batch. Did your kept man need the company? I can't say I have the same tolerance for their smell."

The man dismounts and approaches Tyrus, Radin, Lambri, and Aurum. The men behind him dismount as well but stay by their horses.

"Killian," Tyrus nods, "no matter how many times you are drowned, your bigotry remains quite untouched. To what do we owe the pleasure?"

"You know why I am here. You have played the roll of caretaker too long as the six thrones spit upon our world. I know you have no love for Sarat but you have done your part, delivering into my hands the foesworn. If you turn your back now, you have my word that not a single drop of blood will fall upon your precious paintings, but if you stand by your charges, I will see to it that you will burn along with your house."

Mila Ekanheart wrote:

"Thank you, Master Shiruba!"

Finally feeling safe once more, clad in her heavy armor, Mila followed Mihai outside to meet this Killian.

With precaution, Mila heightened her awareness before stepping outside.

Shiruba Dos wrote:
The aged Alaven man follows the lass outside, hands behind his back giving off a look unbefitting of a battlehardned master. "Oh? It seems we're late to the party already, little Mila." He takes up position near the others.
Radin Elden wrote:

Continuing to stare down Killian, "You come baring intent of blood and violence against those who have done you no wrong. You threaten a man with the destruction of his home solely for giving aid to forlorn travelers." With heat rising in his voice, "By the stench of our soul on The Balance you have willing done so and more before. I will deal with you presently."

Projecting his voice over Killians head to the men waiting behind, "This man cloaks evil deeds in false piety. He is leading you down a path from which there is no return paved with the screams of tortured souls, and not just your victims. Leave this man to me and I will see that he haunts you no more."

GraveScratches wrote:

The men draw draw their swords, and Killian steps back to join their ranks." I was going to give you the chance to submit to the truth that burns and have you scream your secrets all the way to Sarat's ears, so that you may be judged. Clearly you wish to have Sarat perform his arbitration in person."

Tyrus whispers to those close by, "the lake won't save you a second time. I appreciate your willingness to defend my home, but your fate lies elsewhere."

Having bought out her Composite Longbow, Lambri figured that it would be a bit more non-threatening than bringing out her Sawtoothed-spined Falchion; irregardless of the possibility that these knight may actually prove to be friendly, the Wolf-Blooded made sure that her arrows were nearby at the ready and within easy reach. Thanks be to the Spirits of the Tonah that they weren't lost in the depths of that riverbank.

While Lambri was certain that it'd be just her, the Champion of Balance, and his Metara mount that would go to meet with these Knights alone, she was surprised at noting that the aged Alvanen Manor Lord and Aurum had also accompanied alongside of them and even more astonished at the Manor Lord, Tyrus from what she can overhear of that conversation, casually discussing things with Killian, the main speaker for these Saraten Knights. Whatever disagreements they must have had with one another in the past, it was clear that they were already very familiar with each other. Killian himself made for a very foul, fanatical, and hate-filled figure, prompting Lambri to recall Mihai's own expressed distaste for the more overtly "devout" of the Saraten faith in the not so distant past when the Caravan was heading towards Mistcrest.

It would be then that Lambri distractedly notes the newly arrived presence of others drawing nearer now; among them, the young female knight, who had been present with Radin and Mystery during Dead-Hand's assault on Mistcrest, along with two other very familiar figures- Mihai, the main head of the Caravan and Patrin's adopted father figure, and Shiruba, the elderly Alvanen man who fought in an unusually weaponless but effective style of combat. Presumably some of the other servants went along with those three?

Of course, as the Tonah would have it, Radin doesn't take to Killian's verbal threats very well. While Lambri moves to draw out an arrow in response to the knights drawing their own blades, it is Tyrus' whisper that piques her interest. "So these...knights, they too arrived from that very same riverbank that we all had surfaced from? And what do you mean by our fates being elsewhere?", Lambri whispers back to to Tyrus.

Did Mihai have any hint as to Lambri's nature while we were traveling? Because just having a wolf turn up out of nowhere and act like a trained guard dog is not something that happens every day.

The beauty of that wee little detail is that Lambri wouldn't be able speak until she's in her human or hybrid form, and this should give me plenty of time to help establish any further changes to her past interaction with the others in her party.

Depending on how open the Wolf-Blooded are, in general, with others outside of Luthanders, Mihai might know; especially given how Lambri has adopted Patrin as her "burden of copper". Depending on how Mihai treats Patrin (the last head of the caravan being Mihai's Emcha and thus, possibly being son to that very same Emcha?), Lambri might've let Mihai in on Patrin's secret as well as her own (unless they are expected to be a secret kept from all others). It could be just as amusing if Mihai doesn't know about Lambri's wolf form though (Lambri wouldn't be shy about going into Hybrid form during the battle)...

I'd also imagine that Radin, Shiruba, and/or Mila might've only seen/remembered Lambri's hybrid form (Furred but clothed bipedal humanoid figure with a Wolf's head) during the battle with Dead-Hand's men but not necessarily her Wolf form.

With the change in Lambri's background (Lone Dead-Hand Tracker => Copper Burdenship with Patrin and Mihai), I'd envision Lambri taking her last "command" from Patrin to "protect" Radin, Mila, and Mystery the Metara seriously. They would've seen her in her Hybrid form only during the attack, but Mila might be able to recognize her armor and weapon as being the same from the battle with Dead-Hand's forces though. Radin and Mystery would already know about the Wolf-Blooded existing but wouldn't have seen her human form... until now.

I'll leave it up to Mihai and Shiruba if they already know about Lambri's "wolf-forms" before Dead-Hand's attack; she probably wouldn't use her Wolf/Hybrid forms casually during the journey to Mistcrest but she would've definitely changed into her Wolf/Hybrid form during the attack. If Mihai and Shiruba weren't aware of those forms before the attack, it is possible that they might not be entirely comfortable with knowing what she is now, but it'd be up to them how they'd want to play it out.

Conversely, Lambri knows of Mihai through Patrin, her Copper Burden; not sure if Mihai ever openly expressed to Lambri of his dislike for fanatical Saratens but it might be apparent or obvious that he wouldn't want them anywhere near Patrin or his Caravan?

Of what Lambri knows of Shiruba's martial arts prowess, she might've been somewhat skeptical of them at first (probably might not be a familiar thing with Luthanders generally, although they might be familiar with wrestling/grappling though). During the attack, she might have witnessed them in action enough to change her mind about them.

Outside

Aurum growls, rising to his full impressive height. "I will not be scolded like a child! You come here with your words and your invocations, like they mean more than piss in the wind when the dark comes knocking. There was none more devoted to the balance than I, a warrior who held the moon-line against anything that could be belched forth from under the mounds. I bled for the cursed balance, and more was asked from me than you will ever know. So, save your empty signs for those who still care." As he finished: the stars could be seen glowing hot against his iris. A sure sign to any Luthander that this man had been past Warden's Rock and has the seen the path where earth gives way to darkness.

As Aurum continues to seethe with anger, Tyrus exists Winter's Mourning dragging his useless leg behind him. One look at the aged Alvanen stops Aurum dead. Aurum mumbles under his breath, "cursed be my name, for I shall never know sleep in this world or the next."

At this point the knights are almost upon you. At this range, it becomes obvious that their armor is dented and rusted, an artifact of a brighter past.

GraveScratches wrote:
Mystery appears by Radin's side, her nerve returned by the virtue of necessity. Despite Aurum's derogatory marks concerning his heritage, there is a pain inside him when he looks at the metara. Like she is a reminder of a piece of him that now is lost.
Radin Elden wrote:

After motioning Mystery to kneel so that he can climb up, Radin sighs "You are corret, I know not what path you have walked. Nor could I judge yea or nay if I would have fallen as you did, faced with the same trials. For me The Balance asks nothing, it simply gives and takes while I am forced to survive, and that I am not sure I have done."

Balancing himself as Mystery stands to her great height Radin continues, "I have seen plenty of what the mounds can belch forth. I name myself last of the Silent Moors not for nothing. The flower of my tribe was destroyed by the evil of which I will not speak. The few who survived failed to find shelter before the unrelenting winter took them. Even of two that share my name are lost to me. She I have not seen since last we parted ways nearly two decades ago and he not since
our naming."
With a slight husky rattle to his voice, "So don't lecture me on what the balance asks. A price was paid for my life and it is a debt I will repay." With a strength returning to his voice, "While the soul yet lingers, atonement can be found. But only by those who seek it."

Pulling his hammer from his belt and bringing his shield forward from his back Radin nods down to Lambri, "Shall we teach these boys that it is impolite to threaten a metara before she has had her breakfast?"

Her lips pursed taut as Aurum goes into his angry tirade, Lambri keeps silent during that and Radin's rebuttal of such. I never intended to scold, only to find out more of what manner of madness is occurring here in these unnatural grounds. Still, the evidence within Aurum's very glowing eyes does give indication of Fey involvement, however indirect it may be. It is only when the aged Alvanen man makes his presence known to Aurum does the Wolf-Blooded note the grudging subservience that the fur-clad Luthander has towards the aged man. Glancing over in Radin's direction, Lambri notes the lack of apprehension from the Champion of the Balance to this strange, crippled figure. So this must be the Lord of the Manor that Aurum spoke of earlier, that one that is aware of everything. And did Aurum say something about sleep? There is clearly much going on in the background between those two.

When Radin finally does directly address Lambri, she nods back to both rider and Metara while saying sofly, "Let us hope that our new arrivals have some sense of decorum". With that, she brings out her longbow, testing it's strings to see if the water hasn't affected them too badly. With that she will accompany Radin and Mystery to see to those knights.

To Lambri's question about mounted combat with a metara. I also did not feel that a lance made sense and tie in the fact that Radin tries very hard not to accidentally kill someone I use a war hammer and the bludgeneer feat to do non-lethal damage. The barding Radin made for Mystery is also leather lamellar armor which I thought felt better than chain shirt style. Due to the fact that Radin made both of their sets of armor and the Mystery and Radin have not been together that long the inspiration for their fighting style could be very modern.
GraveScratches wrote:
In answer to the question about Luthander martial traditions: traditional Luthander Knights don't really exist and similar mounted warriors are usually isolated products of cultural mingling. Metara do not often accept riders on their back, so a formal Calvary is kind of out of the question. Even a large tribe can only boast a handful of riders. Most of these riders are armored in furs and plate armors are very rare to come by.

That's good to know, Radin and GraveScratches. There's a small part of me just wondering that if there are any Luthanders that have deigned/settled for using horses in the past, and if so, do they get called out on it from their more traditionally minded fellows? ;p

Meanwhile outside:

Seven on horseback can be seen riding over the snow. They are clearly armed and armored in the style of knights of the old world, relics now in the age of black powder. The armor will catch the light and turn them into glowing harbingers of Sarat's fury.

Radin feels iron hard fingers curl around his shoulder, turning he sees Aurum, his face a grim totem of determination. "Now is the time to ride fast, warrior. If we are lucky they will kill the wolf before she has a change to feast on our bones. Save yourself, the Tonah abandoned this place a long time ago."

Radin Elden wrote:

Radin looking over his shoulder at Aurum with disdain, "I have given my word to the hearth holder to defend his hall while guest right is given. If a Fallen wishes to flee into the snow night allowing others to fight in his place then so be and flee, I will not. The bite of the wolf holds no danger for me and I would gladly fight by her side in defense of the weak and innocent."

Shrugging off Aurum's hand, Radin steps away from the man and shouts in Luthandar "MYSTERY, TO ME!"

No sooner than she had asked Radin of the whereabouts of Aurum, both Kath Champion of the Balance and Pala Wolf-Blooded catch sight of the seven mounted knights off in the snow covered expanse. Are those armored knights the ones that are responsible for that distant drumming? If only Aurum was here, he might know of what is truly happening here!

Would it be fair to say that early Luthanders, before their contact with the Alvanen, might've rode and hunted on their Metara mounts but didn't formally adopt any armored mounted lance-wielding combat style until their early encounters with the outsider knights? Sort of had this "semi-romantic" notion of Luthanders not really using barding and lances for their Metara until they "learned" to use such tactics to counter any foreign mounted, knight troops that they went up against.

Upon hearing Aurum speaking his near treacherous words to the Oathkeeper of the Silent Moors, Lambri frowns briefly at their implication and she turns to glare at the fur-clad figure standing behind Radin. As Radin makes his own proclamation to Aurum in turn, some of Lambri's angered gaze softens just a slight bit. Patrin, my Burden of Copper, you have spoken wise and true upon the importance of Champion and his Chosen Metara Bearer.

She doesn't make any immediate retort to Aurum's accusations while Radin loudly calls for his Metara. When she does find a more calmer and less heated tone of voice to speak with, Lambri icily says to Aurum, "You know of what is truly occurring here, Aurum- the drumming, those knights of old, and how we've all arrived here to this forlorn manor...a great distance from where we originally came from. So tell us, are the Fey somehow involved in all of this? You bear one of their marks; a weapon forged from Skyember... your weapon, the tomahawk axe."

Without waiting to see if Aurum would have an answer to that, Lambri then gives a nod towards Radin, then continues to state her words in a more wistful, softer tone, "I told you earlier, Aurum, that you need not fear any harm from me, as your hands would not seek to harm me in turn- does that still hold true? As for the Champion and Oathbearer, my Copper Burden mentioned to me of how important he was, along with two others; I was sent...commanded away from my Burden's side for their very sake. They shall not fall, by my Burden's entrust, I will see to that."

Has Lambri's fatigue run it's course? And are the knights heading in our direction?

As far as the connection between Mihai and Lambri goes it is very likely that he would spend as much time as possible with Patrin, given Mihai is an obsessive perfectionist. As the son of the one who saved Miahis life he would give as much attention to Patrin as he can.

Given this it is fairly likely he would have spent a good amount of time with Lambri as well. At least since she joined the caravan. And yes he would probably flirt with her, but as an absent-minded thing, more the the look of things. His nature doesn't leave alot of time for liesure activities.

Fair enough, since her concern would involve mainly that of Patrin as being her Copper Burden, Lambri would be fine with things as they are. I also suspect that the Caravan itself would've been rife with rumors and gossip pairing Mihai and Lambri together as a couple of sorts but it'd probably be all in good nature though.

Aurum will wave Lambri off to go about her business. As she walks off, Lambri catches him looking after her in a forlorn manner. Although his eyes are trained on her back, his mind is somewhere else entirely.

Lambri is not far from the house when she hears the drums...

Radin Elden wrote:

Hearing the drums Radin looks up sharply.

"I know it feels off but stick close to the house and away from that lake. I am going back inside to grab some information and food. Eat everything you can while I'm gone we might be on the moverall again quickly. Call out if you need me." Radin gives Mystery's neck a quick hug and heads back to the house. Walking towards the house he notices that the wolf's has become a woman.

"Nice coat you have there." Radin says to Lambri with a sardonic smile.

Catching the sound of drums from not too far off the distance, Lambri is momentarily feeling a bit off-kilter as her previous thoughts had already been jumbled in between wondering what had become of Patrin (her designated Burden of Copper), marveling at how she and five others- including the Metara- that she recognized, in some fashion, ended up at some desolate godforsaken place so far from Mistcrest, and considering how to go about giving obeisance to the nature spirits.

In trying to make out the direction that the drum sounds are coming from while she ceases to rummage through her pack for some incense, the words of Radin's odd remark catches the Wolf-Blooded by surprise and she turns to regard the smugly smiling Champion of Balance, who looked remarkably no worse for wear considering the last time Lambri had laid eyes upon him.

Since it was obvious that the Luthander Champion knew who, and more importantly, what she was, Lambri decided that it was best to keep things honest and open with this one. "Yes, I am, as you have suspected, the wolf that had climbed out of that river alongside with the rest. I give you greetings, as a Pala Wolf-Blooded of the Majestic Copper and the Silver to you, Champion of the Balance and Oathkeeper of Silent Moor. You look well for one that had just come out of battle surrounded by Dead-Hand's army with naught but two others by your side". At that utterance, Lambri also gives a gesture of respect towards the nearby Metara mount of Radin's.

During all this, Lambri briefly thinks back upon the circumstance that led her to finding Radin, his mount, and the mysterious young knight during Dead-Hand's attack. It was at a nearby bridge leading towards the town proper. The Champion of the Silent Moors had been there with his mount, alongside the female Alvanen Knight. They had been surrounded by Dead-Hand's men and it was only due to Patrin's insistent behest that Lambri even arrived there, away from the Caravan and her Copper Burden. When the Champion and his mount fell into the nearby waters, Lambri had thought her errand on Patrin's behalf ended in abject failure. Clearly fate had something else in store for them...

"It is good that you, your mount, and that young knight are hale and hearty; my Copper Burden felt it important that you three survive. But enough about that- have you seen Aurum anywhere about?". Lambri will then look about, trying to catch a glimpse of where Aurum had disappeared to.

You don't have to go on about the twins, it has been some time since I danced in there graces. Still, you have nothing to fear from me...if you don't start drooling in the light of the silver." Aurum will laugh, trying to ease away his original fear.

Lambri will give Aurum a wry smile before replying with, "On that note, I can assure you that I have no willingness nor desire to ever follow in the footsteps of the So-called... First King, long may his name be ever forgotten by even those who would seek to slay the dishonored a second time."

In her mind, Lambri could clearly recall the tomahawk axe that was gripped briefly in Aurum's hand before he placed it back to his side; it was made of an unnatural element known to Luthanders as Skyember and it is of known provenance among the Fey- and those who would seek to consort with them.

"It's almost like the red mist has been at him, eating what little sense he ever had. Wouldn't be too surprised if he started spending his nights naked and barking at the moon."

Pausing at the incredulous thought that somehow, in some mysterious way, all five of them turned up at a location many distances away from where they all started, Lambri slowly replies to Aurum, "That is grave news indeed, even more-so because there is one that is very important to me, perhaps to one other, way back at Mistcrest. Dead-Hand will be dealt with and it won't just be merely an Alvanen problem, given what you've said."

Glancing over at Aurum, then towards the direction of the manor, Lambri asks of the fur-clad man, "If it would be of no trouble, could you let the Lord of the manor know that he should be expecting one other to join in the hospitality for the night? While I am eager to touch base with my fellow... travelers, I fear that I may have some belated thanks- and bequests- to give to the spirits of the wild."

That should give Mihai the opportunity to speak with Aurum again and for Radin to notice that the party of four now became five. ;)

It does kind of imply that might be some sort of possible (intimate?) connection with Lambri, although in a much more platonic fashion, it could also possibly be from Patrin's connection to both Lambri and Mihai; I've no preference on either direction myself, so I'll leave it up to everybody else on their preferences (some might just be uncomfortable with the first idea, as an example). ;)

It could also be just as easily retconned where Lambri has Aurum (He of furs and the strange hatchet-axe) go on inside the manor to let Tyrus know to expect another guest; that way, Mihai could inquire about Mistcrest then. Lambri will have to "freshen up"... but is more likely to do some ritual of thanks to the Tonah in the meantime before going inside to meet everyone.

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13.

Tonah: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13.

During Aurum's introduction and subsequent invitation, Lambri quietly remained in her Wolf form, content to watch the proceedings for now. The Wolf-Blooded definitely notices Aurum's nervous reaction to her presence but she doesn't take any offense to that; the So-Called First Wolf King did much to stain the reputation of all those who could take on the form of the wolves. Lambri resolves to explain herself to Aurum once the others are safely inside the manor.

Lore:Luthanders: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19. Is there anything Lambri could visually notice about Aurum, such as what particular tribe he might be from?

When all the others are within the manor and it is just her, Mystery, and Aurum that are staying outside in the snow, Lambri will trot out a bit, while facing away from Aurum (about a good seven or eight feet distance).

She will then proceed to turn back into her human form in a kneeling position, still facing away from Aurum with her back presented to the fur-covered Luthander man. Lambri feels a bit worn out from the effort but makes no show of her fatigue or the coldness accompanying her still soaked furlined clothing; looking down over at her singly held Falchion with a distinctive saw blade upon it's back, the Wolf Shifter notes that the weapon is curiously free of blood and gore- washed cleaned away by the waters of the river, perhaps?

Lambri sheathes her weapon, then turns around to face Aurum with open, unarmed hands giving a respectful gesture. "In the name and light of the Majestic Pala Twins of Copper and Silver, long may they watch within the twilight, I offer my greetings and humble thanks for your hospitality. You need not fear any harm from my hands, as I shall neither fear any harm from yours in return.", the greyish-blondish-haired Luthander woman openly addresses the fur covered figure of the Luthander man in a clear, firm tone of voice that betrays no discomfort nor discomfit.

Glancing around the snow-covered horizon, Lambri will ask Aurum at some point, "Where are we at now? When my companions and I were last at, it was at an Alvanen town, called Mistcrest."

Patrin might've even mentioned to Lambri of where Radin and Mila were, in case Lambri was too far away to pick up Mystery's scent, and urged her to help aid them in battle.

Heh, and given the Luthander's decidedly less formal social mores, I'm sure there's just all those baseless, scandalous accusations of pure impropriety coming from the more sensationalist from the rabid Saraten side. ;p

I'd imagine that any further details of Lambri's Copper burden will have to come from GraveScratches though; given the situation in Mistcrest, there might be a good chance of the Copper burden being in big trouble, if not already expired.

Lambri should have no problem with the rules of the caravan; presumably, she wants to be on her best behavior lest it reflect badly upon her copper burden- whomever it may be. ;)

Apologies about the lateness in posting.

I've no problem with the Copper burden aspect among the caravan if Mihai is okay with it.

Lambri will try to confront the approaching shape although she will not be able to speak to any of the others while in her full wolf form; she'd have to go to either human or hybrid form to speak in common. ;)

It was a rather unpleasant awakening for Lambri, as the greyish blonde Pala Luthander Wolf-Blooded came back to consciousness in the sharp, cold waters near the riverbank.

The last she could dimly recall, she was nearly in the throes of the Red Mist; her fangs tearing deep into the flesh of Dead-Hand's men while her heavy blade rended their all too human bodies beneath their clothing and lighter armor apart.

Instinctively transforming into her fully quadruped Wolf form while holding her breath, Lambri starts making her way towards shore. Any armor, equipment, or clothing that she had on her person melded neatly into her Lupine form, so there was no real danger of being drug any further beneath the waters due to the weight of her possessions; her Wolf form did little to shield her from the stinging cold temperature however.

Lambri's silent but soaking wet wolf form pads up from the waters and on to solid snow covered ground; a brief shaking of the wolf's fur removes some of the waters of the river but still does little to stop the permeating chill in the air.

As she makes her way onto land, there are already others gathered about- she vaguely recognizes some of those as being among those that were attacked by Dead-Hand's men, namely the young girl and an honest to goodness Champion of the Balance with his Metara mount nearby; two others, an old man and a Calivani Caravan Leader are already further up the river bank on higher ground.

Lambri may or may not recognize Shiruba and Mihai, depending on if Lambri had a Copper burden who was with Mihai's caravan at Mistcrest. I'd imagine that it might be like sort of waking up after a bad hangover where you don't quite get your bearings or recollection, at first.

Is it obvious by outward appearances that the snow covered ground and dilapidated manor are far removed from the hapless town of Mistcrest? If so, Lambri will try to determine it's state from her folklore Tonah. -1 Round of transformation as well... possibly more depending on how long ago her last transformation was or if it took longer than a minute to dog paddle to shore.

Folklore:Tonah: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21.

However, as your eyes struggle to keep the house in sight and therefore a glimmer of hope, another shape is moving in the snow. It's large. Although little more than a black mound that shambled stubbornly forward through the drifts, it appears to be covered in thick fur. It takes you less than a moment to realize that none of you are in any shape to fight.

Assuming that approaching the form is something that Lambri doesn't recognize by either scent or sight, she will stop with her Tonah "reading" and move up towards the others to help confront them the darkened shape. The others will see a grey wolf coming to their side from the river's side but is not hostile to any of them or the Metara. If not immediately stopped, Lambri will trudge protectively forward in front of the group.

One thing that did get slightly altered was the Knowledge:Nature, which seems to have been split into Folklore:Tonah and The Fey; figured they'd both be considered a class skill as a result, since Knowledge:Nature was originally a class skill for the Wolf-Shifter. It is certainly an interesting idea Lambri, although I don't like that Mihai could have been manipulated like that it would explain why his caravan showed up at exactly the WRONG time.

Was kind of throwing stuff out there; another possibility might be that Mihai was fulfilling a previously prearranged commitment to show up in Mistcrest from the Emcha?

As an alternate thought, Lambri could've accompanied Mihai's caravan but that would be more dependent on how well the Calivan and the Luthanders/Wolf-Blooded/Shamans get along.

Would one of the Copper Shamans want to be in such a caravan? If so, Lambri could've been assigned as that Shaman's "bodyguard".

It does kind of take away the balanced part of Radin and Lambri from one corner and Mihai and Shiruba from the other corner though; naturally, Mila would be in the middle of both corners at Mistcrest.

That does put things more in place with the further reveal on Dead-Hand that he could be "reasoned" with... to a limited degree. I take it that he doesn't get along well with Luthanders in general? Could be a good reason for Lambri to keep tabs on his army's movement. I could just as easily imagine other nearby Luthander tribes interested in keeping an eye on him but not all that anxious to give aid to an Alvanen town ("They've got Balefire/Balesmoke... let them deal with with Dead-Hand with their firearms!")

Yep, having some sort of connection between the party, even if only a few hours long will make things somewhat easier.

I've no problem with altering or adjusting things on my end (or even passing out other suggestions) so that our backstories will mesh more in line with each other. The Tonah clearly alerted Radin to head towards Mistcrest and it wouldn't be all that much a stretch for the Tonah to help guide/hide Lambri as she was tracking the movements of Dead-Hand's army.

The arrival Mihai's caravan's could've split the local authorities attention so that they might've been just half focused on Dead-Hand's more obvious movements in the area while the other half was focused on keeping order about the town during the celebrations, Shiruba's classes, and entertainment.

Perhaps there might've been a last minute informal agreement between the caravan and Shiruba's class to "share" the town square with one another? Perhaps there was a shifty ambitious, local noble who, aside from being a possible political rival of Mila's adoptive lord, somehow "convinced" the caravan to arrive before Dead-Hand was to arrive in Mistcrest for sinister reasons, like an inside job or greed, or even conspiracy?

It may even be possible that Lambri might've encountered Mihai, Shiruba, and anyone else during her skulking mode along the way and they followed her to Radin's and Mila's position towards an eventual, futile(?) last stand...

In terms of weaponry, Lambri will go with the MW Falchion and MW Composite Longbow (with 2 str), plus a dagger, maybe other minor stuff like ammunition.

In terms of Armor/Shield, will go with MW Scale-Mail or MW Lamellar (Horn); both are very similar in terms of stats; also am debating foregoing a buckler shield for an Armored Coat (MW). In such an event, would it be possible to have the enhanced shield bonus go to the 2nd set of armor instead?
