Kisrana is of average height for a human woman. She is slightly skinnier than most, but a bit more muscly. She very strongly resembles most of her mother's family. Except, of course, for her crimson skin, golden eyes and the stubby, vestigial horns on her head. Background:
Kisranna or "K' as she prefers is a Westcrown native. From very early she felt drawn to Desna and has dedicated her life to serving her. As such she patrols the realm looking for cheats, card sharks and fixers. She then aids the unwitting marks who play in the fixed games with her goddess granted powers. K grew up on the streets. Her human mother fell into debt because of her gambling and (later) drinking problems. Her mother was a forced prostitute for a local pimp. She has no idea who her father is. Her mother died several years ago when her liver gave out. Despite, or perhaps because of her background, K is a cheerful optimistic sort. She has seen the worst and is determined not to end up like her mother and to further see to it that others do not as well. She is a revolutionary, if the truth be told. But a very sensible, quiet revolutionary. Spouting her opinions about the state of the world is foolish. It is hard to help people when your own head is missing. She really does not spare a lot of compassion for the gambling fools. Her attitude is rather hard nosed. If you spend money gambling, you had best be prepared to lose it. But if the game is rigged, then chaos can not operate and the fixers are clearly evil. Desna does not approve. K was thrown over by Holmister, a cleric of Abadar. He was tall, dark, handsome and all human. And he actively courted K for over six months. K can only guess, but she thinks the disapproving looks and cutting remarks from his associates and superiors finally got through to him. Four months ago he sent a 'Dear Jane' break up letter by temple courier to her. Realistically it never would have worked, but she's still hurt by the whole thing. He could have been a bit more tactful. He also could have dumped her in person. K is very quiet and reticent about what she knows. Like all gamblers, she prefers to be underestimated. So she behaves as though she understands only Common. She knows a great deal about cheating and can actually cheat herself, but she'll never let on in public. Her manner and garb are those of the working underclass, waitresses, maids, laborers and such. She is almost always clean, neat and tidy, but rarely does she show off or have jewelry. Her holy symbol is on her person, but safely out of view. Both of her known grandparents are alive, if up there in years. She rarely sees them. About the only relative she does see is her cousin Artesio. Family Background:
K's mother was Jermia Woolsea. The fifth child and third daughter of a family of eight children. Her father (Distan Woolsea) was a weaver and her mother (Nunteen Wellover Woolsea) spun fibres. Jermia married Ned Flarty at nineteen, separated from him at twenty one and disgraced herself forever in the family's eyes at age twenty two when she was arraigned for bad debts, fraud and gambling. Ned later was hung for sheep stealing in a rural district. After paying her fines, her father and mother disowned Jermia. She sank into a life of depravity, gambling, prostitution, petty con games and, as she grew older, drunkenness. Jermia had K when she was twenty five. Jermia never told anyone who K's father was and it is entirely possible she didn't know. The snottier Woolseas would like to claim that K's tieflingness came exclusively from her father, but there is some evidence to the contrary.
The Woolsea family has long been involved in the textile trades of Westcrown. A vast extended family of cousins Woolseas are to be found as shepherds, woolfarmers, shearers, spinners, combers, weavers and factors for wool and cloth. Their preference for dealing with family first has stood them in good stead through the centuries. The only aberration from the family's obsession with natural fibres have been the wizards and sorcerers that have been spun off from time to time. One other peculiarity is that most, but not all, members of the family speak Draconic from infancy. Oddly enough, the only two Woolsea's who know that the family language is Draconic are K and Artesio. The more rural the family member is, the greater the odds they know at least some Draconic. Those that didn't have it inherently have picked it up over time as it is the single best language for herding herbivores. Flock animals respond to Draconic better than to any other tongue, especially if the shepherd wishes to move the flock from place to place swiftly. Woolsea sheep dogs are trained to respond to Draconic as well. Lenora Wollsy Preddens is a first cousin. She is married to Lammas Preddens, a very minor member of the landowning gentry and has two obnoxious children. She has altered her maiden name in an attempt to disguise her origins. Artesio Woolsea is an up and coming sorcerer. He was thought to be purely human until he hit puberty when he sprouted horns. As he also began to show signs of magical ability at the same time, the family thought it best to ignore his obvious tiefling nature. Horns or no horns, his family is proud of him, even if they visit him rather than having him over for dinner. Even though he is young (sixty four) he is starting to get quite the reputation as a dandy, a spell lobber of some potential and a ladies man. He and K generally get together at least once a month for a meal and to compare notes. They both secretly enjoy the side long glances they get when they are seen in public together. The greatest compliment a Woolsea can give is "He knows sheep". The worst condemnation is "He doesn't know sheep". Everyone in the Woolsea family says K does not know sheep. Everyone except Artesio. revised 12/9/12 |
