About Kip TeaLeaf

Kip and Figa (Kip's companion, originally a reticular python) are veterans of the Bellflower Network, helping halfling slaves escape captivity from hobgoblins and lords of Cheliax. Kip and Figa are stealthy and sly; they have a knack for getting past locks, sneaking into forbidden places and ushering slaves to safety. They often team up with Bellflower rogues, rangers, and other stealthy druids. If there be anybody more opposed to slavery than Kip, Kip would like to meet him or her.

Kip's operations have occurred mainly in the forests and underground lairs in the lesser-protected regions of Nirmathas, Kip's home country, independent forever. Despite his lack of innate charisma, Kip has gained a reputation as an unusually diplomatic member of the network, able to bring wild druids, sorcerers, rangers, rogues, and animals to help the Bellflower network in its endeavors. He has served as a go-between among the Nirmathas townfolk and the Nirmathas wild survivalists, generally, and particularly in and around Fangwood. Through his rescue operations and diplomatic envoys, Kip has come to meet many others and learn more than the average druid about civilization. (His mere presence in Absolom is proof.) He has even had the honor to meet a few woodsmen who fought with Nirmath himself during the rebellion of 4655 AR.

Kip's most trusted Pathfinder Society ally thus far is Dr. Pycell, a chemist who is just as suspicious as Kip and sniffs near everything.

... As for Kip's earlier years, he does not remember them well. He knows his birth parents were both alive and loving, and that Kip had a fun older sister - all halflings, of course - but all of them were gone one day when Kip and Kira (a dog protector trained by Kip's parents) returned from visiting a nearby shrine to Milani. Kip was only about 5 years old. They just disappeared. After that, Kip's neighbors, a married couple who lived a day's walk away, took Kip in as their own, until he was old enough to discover the druid inside of him. The neighbors - half-elf Silvie and elf Aklir - are who Kip truly remembers as parents, albeit distant ones. Kip left home, with their blessing, at a very young age (even for halflings, but especially for elven folk) to join the Bellflower network. Silvie and Aklir supported the Bellflower cause, often harboring escapees and rescuers, and sometimes even providing work for an escapee for a week or two so that he or she could get back on his or her own feet. Kip heard too many horrendous stories about slavery.

... As an aside, Figa happens to be the exact same age as Kip, as she was born the very same day and her breed of python has the same approximate lifespan as halflings. Figa was originally from a tropical land (Kip does not know where), and was being smuggled for illicit trade when Kip freed her. Figa was one of Kip's first "freeds," as Kip calls them.
