About Kimi Yuki

Born to two kitsune in a small village in the Forest of Spirits, Kimi led a relatively quiet life for her first six years. Her mother had lived in the same village most of her life as an emissary to the local Kami, while Kimi's father was once a part of a Varisian Caravan, known mostly for his dancing and his harrowing abilities brought along by his psychic sensitivity. Keretea was entranced by the natural beauty of Ms. Yuki, and decided that when his caravan left, he would stay. The two got married and had one darling fox daughter, as well as an amusing moment as they finally revealed to each other that they are both kitsune. Kimi grew up in a village comprised of 98% non-humans. This normally would not be a problem, but on Kuthona 1, Kimi's birthday, a local gang of human barbarians (the culture, not the class) held together by their collective Xenophobia came across the tribe and began slaughtering every non-human they found. The only two non-humans they did not kill were Torellemari, an elven hunter who was like an older brother to Kimi, in no small part to him constantly bribing her silence with fish, and Kimi, who was hidden in her personal hiding hole in the wall as she watched her parents get brutally slaughtered and desecrated. The next morning, and the following week thereafter, Kimi buried all the dead in the village, and sat on her parents combined grave to await whatever death fate chose for her. The local fey and Kami, however, not only respected Kimi's mother, but no small number were also friends with Kimi herself. They provided for her as a pixie sent for the local lord to retrieve her. The lord answered the call and carried the near catatonic girl to his home. He soon after adopted her, making her the youngest of three. Kimi knew this was a formality, that as soon as she could properly provide for herself, he would kick her out. The situation became much more permanent one fateful trip to the market. After watching children play with their families, something snapped in Kimi's mind, as the power she inherited from her father, the power he never awakened, overtook the 8 year old with no mercy. Nearly everyone in the market, save Kimi's eldest sibling, was overcome with massive pain as Kimi's psychic potential escaped from her mind. The pain others felt was so intense that a majority of their brains stopped functioning, as the grief Kimi felt seeing her parents killed and having to bury nearly everyone she knew, having been allowed to fester over two years are thrown at them in seconds. The breakdown lasted but thirty seconds, as the eldest was able to calm her sufficiently to end her unintended assault on innocent civilians. Kimi never was allowed to leave the manor after that, but was soon scouted, and subsequently recruited, by the Society. They helped her hone her powers, shaping her into a capable Mesmerist. Then she died at the hands of a mad wizard. After being brought back in a ritual performed by close friends, Kimi learned that she lost most of her connection to the minds of the living, but her encounter with Pharasma had left her with a connection with six spirits of the ancient dead. Kimi's trauma, combined with a very sheltered lifestyle, stunted her growth developmentally, giving her a child-like mentality.
