Scarab Sages

I'm local to Morristown, and am planning on being at Dexcon multiple days.. any other Pathfinder Society players attending? FYI, schedule is HERE

Scarab Sages

Hi all,
New player here.. I have a Druid character and am developing her animal companion. I was reading about "training so and so takes 2 weeks".. How does one designate time in PFS?

Right now I'm part of a small group that plays every other week.

Thank you!

I am creating two characters for Pathfinder Society - So I can play locally and PbP. I'm completely new to roleplay games generally, so this is a pretty steep learning curve, between Pathfinder Core Rules, Pathfinder Society Guide and various character creation articles....

Here are my current questions:

The PFS guide says feats are taken per the core rulebook, and the core rulebook states that feats are determined based on class and level (pg 15), but it doesn't say HOW to determine what feats you can have for your character?

As a half-elf druid, my character does NOT have proficiency with crossbow, but I want her to use one.. can I take the feat "weapon proficiency- light", to counteract penalties?

My first character is a Half-elf Druid (STR 10, DEX 12, CON 13, INT 16, WIS 16, CHA 10). Per core rules, she can take 7 ranks in skills, but at one point I put 8 ranks.. is there something I read before that made me add an 8th, based on race, class, or something else I'm now overlooking? I have 7 but would really like to put 8 on her to start...

How is spell resistance (on character sheet) determined?

PFS allows for an "outfit" costing up to 10gps.. Can I use that allowance for a "pocketed scarf", or do I have to choose an outfit like "adventurer outfit"?

Thank you!

Simple questions:
Are there GMs out there making plans for PFS for Maelstrom in Morristown, NJ April 10-12?

Scarab Sages

Hi all,

I'm a completely new (female, married to non-gamer, 40 something IRL) gamer, having been introduced last month at the Dreamation Gaming Conference in Morristown, NJ (local to me).

I was introduced to tabletop RPGs, LARPs and board/card games, and enjoyed every one of them! I also just discovered that there are Play By Post RPGs which intrigue me :)

I just played my first local Pathfinder Society Game last Sunday with a pre-generated character. I had fun, and have decided to learn RPGs primarily through this system/style (these games are so complex I figure I need to pick ONE and become proficient before branching out to other systems!). I've taken time this week to do some reading in the Core rulebook and am in the process of creating my first character - Half-Elf, Druid, level 1. I've done my core ability traits and spells, but have not tackled armor or weapons. I'm a little stuck now since I'm not sure how the session record given to me by the GM fits into any changes in my character sheet. He gave me some GPs, but I'm not sure how he came up with the number and until I know exactly how much I should have, I don't want to make any purchases.

I would love to get connected with a friendly RPGer online here who has a good understanding of Pathfinder rules as well as some experience with Play by Post. I'd like to find someone who is willing to review my character sheet for accuracy and to help me understand how to use my stats in the game. Then I'd just like to have someone who is willing to answer emails in a timely fashion when I have questions the games.

Thanks,
Dawn in NJ

Hi all,
Noob here in NJ. Played my first game with a pregenerated character and have been reading core manual and Society playbook to fill in my character sheet.

I have chosen my:

Alignment, class, faction, race and gender, and have generated my ability scores, but I'm getting lost from there!

For example, I read about my class having a bonus on one ability. Do I record that in the base ability score?

I've checked off the skills for my class, but I' not sure if I need to fill in the other calculations, and how to do that. Same with pretty much everything else... I could really use a tutorial on filling out this sheet and what I can refer to when figuring out each section.

Thanks,
Dawn in NJ
