Why? Hey GM, thanks for another great game!

Are you going to do another one? If so, what would you be thinking of and when would you like to start? Kellean is up for another one, or I could take her to local PFS games sometime.

In other matters, Kellean just made second level! Woohoo!

I think I am going to take her Str from 11 down to 10 and her Dex from 12 to 10, using the points saved to raise her Int to 14. It probably won't be that optimal (I suppose I should drop various things more and put it into Wis), but 1) I like higher Int, and especially the skill points; 2) the character was initially inspired by my wife and she is smart and very amiable but not that strong and, honestly, not that graceful.

I put the bonus language into Sylvan, one alternative that we be useful in fleshing out her early history. Undercommon might also be good.

I then added skill points into Arcana, History, Local, Planes, and Religion, using my second FCB for an extra skill point, so I'll have at least a chance at more things.

Going 'off the script' here for a few with a bit of fluff, since I can't imagine Kellean just leaving the small boy, Atmar, in slavery, especially after all that they have been through together.

Kellean nods in approval, appreciating the wisdom of the Shoanti's words. "Speaking of lives that are or are not their own, perhaps some arrangement could be made to bring freedom to our young companion, Atmar, the young slave boy 'belonging' to Hokama Pashket, the water merchant."

Diplomacy Take 10 for 19, or 20 with Guidance if it lasts long enough.
"Hokama Pashket, my very good sir and traveling companion these last, most memorable days!" Kellean begins the negotiations graciously and expansively, in Kelish. "I and the Society would be very pleased, I am sure, to purchase the freedom of Atmar. Now, we need not go in to the fact that we all wouldn't been here having this discussion if not for the efforts and financial expenditures of the group, myself included," Kellean says, making a slight gesture to her wands and scroll tube.

She continues the haggling, likely over several cups of tea, as is the Qadiran way.

I'm not sure how much it would be. The information from the Adventurer's Armory (which I own, actually) has information on how much a slave of various types would cost (also here). So, probably 50-100 gp, or maybe less with Diplomacy and/or a discount for friends?

She could also produce water for the merchant. I don't know if it would annoy Sarenrae, but Kellean could, conceivably, create 15,600 gallons of water, chanting for a total of 13 hours a day... :-P

Kellean casts a orison, stabilizing the downed Taldan, and then moves quickly to any others who may need it.

"He probably knows a great deal about the goblin, hobgoblin, harpy and other menaces that may still plague the area without his guidance, and so has at least that much value alive," she explains. "And where there is life," Kellean thinks quietly and more humanely, "there is the chance for redemption, thank The Dawnflower."

After he has been tied securely, she calls everyone else who has been injured to a spot away from the downed hobgoblins, gathering them close, grasping her holy symbol and presenting it, repeatedly healing the group until everyone is well.

5 channels, although they are only 1d6 each, plus a nearly-full wand of CLW at 1d8+1 ea.

I had hoped to get a Bless and some Protection from Evils in, but things don't wait for me to get everything done.

Edit: Do try to have your current HP status in your stats line, so that I can decide whether to try a lower HP, multiple-recipient channel for everyone or a higher HP, single-recipient CLW for a particular individual.

"So, it appears that Gaspar du Mer of Taldan did, indeed, kill his partner, and has been planning ambushes of caravans - perhaps a continuation of the ages-old conflict between Taldor and Qadira?"

"Why the harpy would have the weapon and the map I do not know exactly. Perhaps harpies, long a thorn in Qadira's side, have been recruited into the conflict as well, or perhaps they just happened along an unfortunate courier of the ambush plans."

I double-checked my character sheet, and Kellean hasn't prepared anything but Endure Elements (just using wands for other things), so Kellean and two others can be protected. So, Gerrin and Fenchil, it seems, as the lower Fort saves.

Kellean will continue slowly up the mountain, apologizing for her late arrival when she finally makes it. "Congratulations Kaddok and, especially, Gerrin, though I shouldn't congratulate such foolishness, even if so well done!"

"Normally I would suggest burying opponents, but their exposed bones at the bottom of the cliff may keep the place from being defiled again by more harpies." After inspecting the body, she'll warn those down below and help push the body off the cliff.

She then will help search the head of the giant statue, including casting Detect Magic.

Kaddok- Neither of us were moving our tokens (I think I was thinking the DM was going to do it), so I moved both of ours for this turn and last. If you want, I put you right diagonally below the harpy. If not, you can restart 35' of movement, starting from diagonally down to the right from where Kellean is now.

Kellean continues her struggle up the rope, from the struggle at the base to the struggle at the mouth of the ancient statue, wondering if this is some metaphor for life and, more immediately, whether she will make it close enough in time or whether it will be too little, too late.

Move a total of 5' more up the wall using the knotted rope. I have a -9 to climb accelerated so that won't work, unfortunately.

Kellean sees Gerrin put in his earplugs and remembers her own, putting them in, too. "We'll just have to keep looking in every direction," she says, now a little too loudly.

Kellean nods reluctantly at Fenchil's statement and actions. "We will need to be on the ledges and protecting the others, lest it simply avoid one group to attack the other."

Kellean remains, however, unsure how a confrontation can be forced with the flying creature. "If I hadn't needed to prepare only spells for endurance and none for commanding..."

"Oh, this a good thing to do but a very bad idea," Kellean laments, but begins to follow Kaddok up the ledges.

Kellean brings puts her hammer and four pitons in her belt, and slings 50' of knotted rope over her shoulder.

If we use that along the way, we should be able to take 10 (for a 6...) and be OK, at least out of combat, and 100 ft (or probably 80, with both sets knotted), will seem to get us there. She might continue to say a prayer of Guidance, for a 7. :)

Yeah, I was hoping for a way to take inside up to the observation deck, maybe an elevator.

Taking a few quick notes, Kellean leaves in disappointment, knowing that their responsibilities are onwards.

Watching for falling rocks as she exits, she fires a bolt from her crossbow in the direction of the creature and follows it with a taunt, "Foul creature, you may follow us and have your revenge, if you dare," hoping that it will try to do so.

DC 10 Climb checks are really tough for Clerics (and most 1st level armored characters) and once in combat one could be pushed or pulled off fairly easily. Good thing Kaddok was handy with the earth hammer.

"Should we pursue it to the top? Perhaps there is a way within the statue, through the lower cave or caves. And, we would be exploring - however briefly - something wondrous, if befouled."

I don't have a good feeling for how it can be ascended from the exterior, and a fall could certainly be fatal.

I'm not sure if you can keep applying PfE to the same character or not, so:
Kellean's heart sinks as her effort fails, and unsure of the magic, she rushes over to Fenchil, casting the spell again and touching it to him.

Kellean rushes to Gerrin, casting Protection from Evil from her wand and touching it to him.

I believe Gerrin will get another roll, with a +2 resistance bonus in general and a +2 morale bonus for this type of effect in particular.

I find myself often wishing I has more skill points, especially with a cleric or paladin, even though I haven't dumped Int in any, maintaining Int 12 or 14. What do people think about using the FCB for skill points versus HP?

So far, I've focused on HP, being too chicken to go for the skill point.

But, I am only going to get 1 more rank in each skill I would like every three or four levels. At first level, I went with Diplomacy, Heal, and Sense Motive, skipping Know. (Religion) & (Planes) and Spellcraft, figuring she is a lay cleric, at least to start.

I'll probably take basic training in Religion, Spellcraft, and another for second level, perhaps either Planes or another Knowledge skill.

I could even drop Str from 11 to 10 and Dex from 12 to 10, allowing me to boost Int from 12 to 14.

No problem. :-) Hopefully Banon is still with us, though... ;-) I can also remove the "fatigued" condition 6 times per day. Perhaps, with the addition of a cool Create Water shower, would allow the NL damage to be cured with magic?

Seeing Gerrin's efforts, Kellean will help, creating water to clean them out some. "Hmm. Might need some soap..."
I should have soap, but I don't. At least lice and fleas tend to be species specific. :)

Kellean will also ask Hokama if he has a guess as to the next day's weather, so that she may better prepare spells for the challenges ahead.

Towards the end of the day and before bed, Kellean will cast Endure Elements on Fion and Gerrin as the most likely to suffer ill consequences from the heat. "Especially with the black clothing..."

From now on she rides with her remaining scroll of blessing in her hand, and her wands at the ready.

As Kaddok crushes the last hobgoblin, Kellean's scimitar ends up slicing through only air. "By the Dawnflower, I was sure I was going to finally hit something that time!" Kellean thinks, as she rushes back to the downed drover. She calls all of the wounded to gather round, raises her holy symbol to the sun, and releases waves of positive energy to heal the wounded, a warmth that is somehow still healing even in the desert heat.

Right. I remember reading somewhere on the messageboards about there being an intent to have regular gauntlets also not provoke AoO's (they do lethal damage, after all), but I don't think it has been made official.

This is definitely going better than I expected, but I didn't realize that everyone else in the group was level 2 (Kellean is still level 1), or that the 'civilians' would be contributing.
