Background:
Born to long-dead parents, Kellan is a forlorn elf who has been raised by several people including thieves, homeless, tradesmen, and even nobility. However, he spent the most of his formative years with adoptive parents William and Shaleau Vinhelm of Absalom. They saved him from prison after he was caught and found guilty of stealing from their warehouses. Despite having multiple charges against him and a future of vagabondry written on his forehead, the couple took him in and shielded him, giving him the first real, loving home he'd ever had. They also took in the starving girl he'd fallen for. However, she was too far gone to save, and passed soon after. Kellan personally blames himself for young Rellia's death, as he'd previously refused her suggestions and pleads to find more legitamite lines of work. Kellan sees this as his greatest mistake, and thus pledged on her deathbed to help others through legitimate means only. Over time his urge to steal was subdued. He still found mercantilism a boring trade, but decided to do something productive. As his aging forster parents slipped into old age, he decided to honor them by dedicating himself to their honored deity, Sarenrae. He also saw this as an opportunity to fulfill his promise to Rellia. Kellan signed up at the biggest temple he could find in Absalom, and was trained in the art of being a warpriest due to his excellent combat aptitude, insightful nature, and powerful force of personality. He only barely finished this training before setting out again, however; the call of adventure still burned deep within him. He found his calling with the Pathfinder Society. Here, he could both do honor to Sarenrae and his parents as well as fulfill his most inner burning desires. He still worries about what he'll do with his life; although he's already been a successful member of the Lodge and is well known by his peers, he is still overwhelmed by the (potentially) long life ahead of him, and what he could possibly do to make his time on Golarion worth it. Personality:
Kellan is a person of great duality; on the one hand he has an amazing amount of compassion and love for those in need, and at the same time having extremely little patience for those who seem weak. He does not hate or despise these people, however; he only sees in them a younger version of himself- someone who desperately needed to grow up and do something with their life, not just survive by any means necessary. He still sees his decisions at a young age as mistakes, and wants to help others avoid those mistakes. As with any Forlorn, Kellan is hesitate to form new relationships; once these are formed, however, he is fiercely loyal til the bitter end. Description:
Ht: 6'3" Wt: 149 lbs Age: 234 Hair: White Eyes: Brown with bright yellow pupils Skin: medium-brown ("Mediterranean") Reference Image Although relatively lean compared to human warriors, Kellan is at the peak of physical condition. He wields his elven curve blade with greater precision and dexterity than most can handle a dagger.
A Day In The Life (Writing Example):
Kellan walked down one of the dizzying market streets of Absalom, letting the current of memories guide him past the river of stalls, shops, and busy merchants. "Gods this is boring." He thought. Kellan shifted his gaze towards a group of kids conspicuously making their way towards him from his 7 o'clock, and watched with amusement as one worked up the courage to go for Kellan's money pouch. He caught the girl's hand with ease, watching pure fear suck all color from the her dirty face. "Not bad, kid. Almost didn't hear and see you coming. You've got guts. Listen carefully: you don't want this life. Sarenrae doesn't want this life for you, either. Go to her temple, and offer yourself to the priests there. They always need good eyes and ears on the street, and will train you to use your god-given talents for the good of all." Kellan paused for a moment, letting the compliment and suggestion sink in just long enough for the vagabond to relax slightly. He then narrowed his bold yellow eyes, and whispered in her ear: "This will be my only warning. Sarenrae forgives, but she does not forget those who ignore her words. Go." With the fear of the gods set in her, the girl dashed past her former allies and bolted straight for the temple division. Kellan simply gave the group a knowing wink, smiled, and then abruptly slipped into a nearby alley. He had seen some shady-looking thugs disappear down the path while the children distracted him. Pulling the curve blade from its holster on his back, he prepared to bring Sarenrae's fire down upon men who, unfortunately, had not been lucky enough to feel Her warming forgiveness in youth...and so now they would feel Her fiery blade. |
