Keiko starts jogging off to check the opening that she can see somewhat through already to get a better idea what's through it.
Keiko comes up behind Ruika and Corneilious, perhaps smart enough to hide behind them. "Oh, yeah. Together. That's a good idea. I mean, in the tales I've read, it's when people get separated that they get picked off one by one by a horrible monster, and it's usually the cute, fun-loving gal who gets brutally killed first."
When Jaykae wakes her up, Keiko seems a bit surprised, rubbing her face lightly. While she had nothing to drink, she's still not an easy riser but she wakes up rather quickly as she starts to prepare. As usual, Keiko is rather talkative on the walk over, discussing whatever thoughts flit through her head, sometimes pausing to test alliteration or rhymes on particular words. "Potions? That might be a good thing to keep in mind. I don't have a ton of money or anything, but maybe we'll be able to salvage something worth a bit of trade," decides Keiko.
"Yeah, that's fine, my arm feels like a noodle that's been boiled for days now anyways..." says Keiko to Corneilious, grinning. "You're like. Really strong. My head just about exploded!" She glances over towards Garruth and says, "Err... maybe I will need your help after all. My arm's super tired. But I'll worry about keeping my sister warm." Tricky catmen and their snuggle offers. Suspicious.
Keiko blows on her hands and says, "Well, I'm feeling pretty dizzy from the last one. You're pretty tough, gotta admit!" Keiko takes Corneilious's hand and tries again.
Keiko tries hard enough, but is no match for the might of Corneilious, eventually resorting to using two hands and then getting her fist slammed down.
"Huh? No, I'll take care of my sister, catman, don't you worry about it or share any bedrolls with her. I'll take care of her... but first I'm gonna take care of something else!" Keiko sits across from Corneilious narrowing her eyes slightly and says, "Alright, big man, let's see what you've got!"
Keiko puts all of her strength into the armwrestle with Corneilious, face turning beet red from exertion!
Keiko looks towards her sister and then decides, "I'm gonna stay out of the drinking contest thing. Someone's gotta look after Jaykae, and it should probably be me." She looks towards Corneilious and then says, "I'm not much of an arm wrestler. I'm more of a cheerleader than a fighter. But a game of dice... well, may lady luck be kind!"
"Oh," says Keiko, nodding slowly. "I think I have a certain idea who that certain party is... Well," she pats her blade, "My sword will surely be deserving of the title 'Gnollslayer' soon enough. Though I can assure you... charm can kill. You just gotta know how to use it."
Keiko also follows into the tent, mumbling to herself, considering the rhythmic properties of the words that she is speaking. She nods once to Garavel and says, an idle question, "What even rhymes with pugwampi?"
Keiko follows after the others, looking towards the corpse for a few moments and then moving in to walk alongside her sister. "Hey Jaykae, are you doing alright? I know you're not used to that kinda thing..." Of course, neither is Keiko, just being a poet herself.
"Whoa, whoa. What is that?" says Keiko, caught a bit off guard, her rapier already drawn.
Keiko says, "Heeey, it's the goat. Heya, goat. Been looking for you." She watches the animal for a few moments and then follows its gaze curiously.
She stares blankly off and then shrugs.
Keiko peers about, eyes resting for a moment on all of those point cacti, and glancing about to watch the backs of the others, using that fancy low-light vision before following through reluctantly.
"The magical lights thing is something I could do since I was just a little thing. I didn't really study it. I just knew it... Jaykae is better at it than me, though. I'm surprised that you think me a heathen, though. It's a bit of an assumption, I suppose," says Keiko.
Keiko shrugs at Ruika and then comments, "If anyone needs me to make more light I can do the whole 'magicky lighty' thing..." She starts off towards where she thought the sound was, drawing her rapier.
"What was that?!" whispers Keiko harshly, surprised at the sound, rushing forward to see what's going on.
Keiko nods and says, "Yeah, nothing was broken or anything. I couldn't find any weird tracks, but people are walking around there all the time. I can't shake the suspicion that releasing the animals was a diversion." She pats the little fox on the head and says, "She seems nice, too. Does she bite, ummm, bad people usually?"
"Huh, I'm really not seeing anything out of the ordinary here," decides Keiko as she peers at the prints, shrugging over towards Jaykae.
Keiko also starts searching for tracks curiously.
"Yeah..." says Keiko, as she peers towards the fence, "It seems a bit odd that the animals would get out right as a big fire was starting... without any damage no less. We should look for tracks or something around here..."
"Hmm? Yeah, I guess someone might have released the animals as a distraction or something..." says Keiko, considering that for a moment, "Why don't you and I take a look at the animal pens, and see what happened? If something broke, or if someone just happened to open it..." She gestures for Jaykae to follow and runs to the pens.
"Yeah, I'm pretty good with people," chimes in Keiko, patting Lyssa on the head with a curious expression before she looks towards Ruika, "Ah, I guess we are pretty decent people or something."
"Whoa... Whoa!" says Keiko, waving her hands and shaking her head at Jaykae, "Don't invite the nice catman to stay in our tent!" She waves her hands at Garruth to indicate that he should forget whatever Jaykae said.
Keiko gasps in surprise at the small fox coming at her to sniff. "Whoa whoa, where did you come from!" Her surprise passes when Jaykae picks up the scent. She nods towards Corneilius and says, "I can take a look too, if it was possibly magic..."
She just stares dumbly at the wagon for a few moments and shrugs.
Keiko nods towards Almah and says, bowing slightly at the waist, "Ah, certainly. I will help in any way that I can." She glances towards her sister.
"Whoa, Jaykae, let's not talk about spots I may or may not have..." says Keiko, eyes widening also at her sister's words. "That might be more information than the nice catman cares to hear." Back to Garruth she says, "And how could she track by smell? Look at that normal human snuffler on her, just like me! And all I smell is burnt..."
"I thought you could maybe snuffle out the goat," comments Keiko helpfully. "You've probably got an okay snuffling nose?"
"Yeah, we're twins. The amazing Zerda sisters! Surely you've heard of us!" says Keiko proudly. Most people have not heard of them. She then looks towards Corneilious and says, "Oh, yeah, canines are better snufflers, aren't they? I wouldn't know about canine snuffling abilities. The catman might be fine at it? I guess it's academic at this point..."
"Keiko, Keiko Zerda. I'm a poet," says Keiko proudly, "And I'll help you look for Rombard if you want. I'm not really a good... goat finder or anything, but maybe the catman can snuffle him up. I hear that catmen have great snuffling abilities." "Anyways, it's nice to meet you Hadrah, and Hadrod. I know it's hard when someone you love goes missing, even if it is a goat..." She considers that and says, "On that note, if you've heard anything about someone named Haleen... I'd appreciate it if you'd share it with me. Me and my sister are looking for her..."
"Ha, in your face you beaked monstrosities!" taunts Keiko once the chickens are properly herded. She takes a step back and looks towards Hadrod, expression growing more serious, "Rombard? Who is Rombard? I will help..."
"You horrible feathery clucking fools," scoffs Keiko, catching the look on the man's face. "Are you looking for something I can help you find? I might not be the best chicken wrangler..." She still tries to wrangle those chickens.
"Bock bock bock come on you dumb jerk birds!" grumbles Keiko as the chickens only succeed in scattering, not having much patience for their inability to cooperate with her. She takes a moment to calm down and says sickeningly sweetly to the chickens, taking advantage of the fact that they do not understand language, only tone, "Come on you awful little beasts, come to Keiko, and I won't punch you in your stupid little beaks."
Keiko looks about and then decides to help herd the confused animals back to safety.
She licks her lips lightly as she tries to herd some chickens, making some clucking sounds to try and call it, but she might not be the most trustworthy person in the world to a chicken.
Keiko just smiles brightly at her sister in response to the apologetic look, which means she has no expectation that her sister should be sorry. After all, being distractable is something they have in common. She looks off silently towards the Sultan's Claw, lips pursed, though she taps the measures of Jaykae's music in synch with her sister.
"Gack!" says Keiko, caught unawares by the shot of water, flailing her hands and using one to wipe off her face. "Well... I guess that's kind of refreshing. Still, coulda warned me and maybe I would have been able to try and catch it in my mouth!" She is distracted when Garruth mentioned her twin is wandering off, "Hey, Jay! You're wand'rin away, heading astray, I'd rather you stay, next to me, 'kay?"
"Wow, that was a neat trick!" says Keiko, delighted at seeing the water splashing down on Corneilious's face. "I'll be sure to let you know if I ever need a nice cooling rain." Once that's said, though, she starts mumbling to herself, likely trying to figure out some lyrics.
"Hey, you're the one with the music stuff, I'm just a lyricist," says Keiko to Jaykae, "I just wanted to check what they were like. They're so different from my totally normal human ears." She grins towards her sister and then hops up to mount her own animal. She then nods towards Alik and says, "Believe me, I feel a hundred times more comfortable knowing that there is someone on my side who can confidently say things about crushing people with his hands."
Keiko starts to touch Garruth's ears, leaning over towards him and tugging them lightly, but sure not to hurt him. She snickers to herself and says, "Catfolk ears are so weird. Soft, though!" She seems quite satisfied, as though she understands what's going on, and then she says to Corneilious, "Maybe she means death for our enemies? I'm sure that's what we'll find. And... well, I hope we'll run into interesting people..." She looks over to her twin sister.
Keiko has not been keeping to herself for much of the journey, openly expressing curiosity at every thing that she can get away with (perhaps to the point of obnoxiousness). "Maybe I'll donate later," she pipes up, having been in concentration thinking up some lyrics for possible future performances with her twin sister. She peers towards Garruth and then says, "Hey, you mind if I touch your ears?" |
