Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

"Very well then. Shall I enter before, or after Valdisara? Her capabilities to detect evil may prove useful in the cavern itself." Turning to Grumblenaught, Kara says, "I certainly hope it does not come to that."

Just wanted to say that post from Grumblenaught is great. Got me laughing out loud at my work-study, earning me funny looks from everyone here in our library. On a different note, finals are starting here, so my posting will be random at best. I'll definitely chime in every day, though.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

I'll go ahead and tie the rope to the branch, doing my best ensure that the branch will actually hold Martaug's weight. Assuming that the branch holds solidly, Kara will be ready to pull should Martaug need to come out quick.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

I'll volunteer for rope holding duty.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

"Any problems that remain amongst ourselves can be dealt with in good time after we have dealt with those problems that continue to plague others. Everyone has stated their opinions, both loudly and vociferously. Let us leave it at that, for now, and concentrate on the task at hand," Kara says, shaking her head at the antagonism present.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Giving the gnome a penetrating glance, Kara turns back to the battle. Assuming she is either already in range, or in move range, and able to hit it, she will strike down at the creatures.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

"I am not sure what you mean by 'of the mean earth', but I fight for the good of the people. We have come this way in pursuit of those we believe to be Blackspears, or related to them, because they attacked a family that stand as friends to members of our band."

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

If I'm correct about where the thing was at when I killed it...

Kara is standing in K11, trying to keep an eye on the gnome and the hole at the same time, Silvertongue pointed decidedly towards the hole.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

I'll move inside the ward quickly, keeping my eye on the gnome as I do so. I'm not sure I completely trust him.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Kara will be arming her shield, and should she be close enough to either enemy, launching into a quick series of slashes based on Taldane dueling attacks.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

"Well, gnome? Will you offer explanation for your statements? Or shall we wring it from you?" At this, Kara draws Silvertongue, pointing it in the gnome's direction.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

"You bear semblance of age as much as the bones and flesh of those creatures we followed here, if the dust dropping off of your person is any indication." Resting her hand on the pommel of Silvertongue, Kara continues, "Then again, you may be one of them. Explain yourself, or remove yourself from our path.

Not sure if Diplomacy could help here, but I'll go for it. As for posting, the reading and paper writing I have to get done right now leaves me little energy for the thought needed for posting. By the end of this week, I should be a bit more active than current.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

"Spider King? Walking dead? We are definitely in the proper place then. I suppose that the spider wounds the Constable sustained would have come from those spiders. Why would the dead things be after Ulrich's family though? Are the creatures connected somehow?"

Turning to the gnome, Kara will ask him, "Could you shed some much needed light on the subject, sir?"

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Slapping her hands on her sides to remove the dust from her hands, Kara speaks: "Interesting. Could this perhaps be connected to the other caves we have heard so much of? If so, that would further solidify this link between the dead and this treasure. This may allow us to achieve both our objectives at once."

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

"The cave seems a more pressing concern, though we have the numbers to split up once more. A good mix of skills in each party will be necessary should we decide upon that course of action."

As for the spears, Kara has a rather personal attachment to her weapon. She could make use of gold gained by selling them, if anyone would even buy them, but she's not going to use them unless she must.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Kara will add what words she can, saddened by the fact that she was not here earlier to stop this from happening in the first place, but determined not to let it go any farther. With a solemn prayer to Iomedae, that the goddess might bless her sword work, Kara readies herself for the rest of the day.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

"This seems rather strange that they would require the boy to accomplish their goal, unless they planned on sacrificing him. I admit to being rather perplexed at this point. This is rather farther outside of my expertise than I usually go."

Kara will go back inside and change out of the dress, hoping she didn't ruin anything. Should it be necessary, she will offer up her own coin to repay Hilden for it.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Holding her sword still at the ready, Kara calls, "I am still present among us. I am glad to see that we all stand well, for I feared what might have been, with the luck I seem to have with Silvertongue lately. Perhaps this dead flesh is not to his taste."

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Kara attempts again to strike down the poncho wearing man, cursing her luck with her sword these days, and hoping fervently that this time will be better.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Kara has indeed moved outside, and seeing the green-cloaked man standing over Yalka, she will move in to attack him.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Not taking her eyes from the shadow, Kara says, "My thanks, Orislav!"

Kara moves threateningly towards the shadow, and strikes, shouting "Take this then, dark being!"

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Kara, noting its resistance to what appear to be normal blows, ready an action to attempt to trip the creature should it try to move past her to get to Orislav or Deserach, as they are more suited to getting rid of this creature.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Kara will be moving back into melee with the thing after arming herself, to finish round one. In round two, she will be attacking the shadow.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Just realized that we never decided where I put my sword and shield.

On initiative 13, if my arms are within easy reach, I will withdraw from the shadow, and get them, arming myself. Otherwise, I will withdraw around the pit (if that's what in I16), continuing to act the farm wife, which may include screaming, etc., as would be fitting.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

At Gunlar's remark, Kara pauses, looking askance at Grumblenaught. "You are right, Gunlar. Perhaps we could make do with me. Alternatively, I could simply hide in the loft, with Orislav and Deserach, while Grumble takes position on the roof. It may be better to sell a deception though."

"How about this then. Orislav and Deserach could take positions within the loft, hopefully keeping them out of the direct line of fire, and giving a good view overhead of the home. Grumblenaught, I know that you prefer ranged combat, so a position on the house would be best then, with a quick way down available to you, unless you wish to simply jump off. I will pose as Hilden, hiding my armor as best I can, and placing my arms out of easy view of any windows, but still within easy reach. Does this strike everyone as a sound plan? If so, we should act with as much haste as we can muster."

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Not sure if you already described Hilden, but disguise could prove quite useful, no matter how much Kara looks, or doesn't look, like her.

"Valdisara is right. Perhaps the use of a dress, to hide my breastplate? I would need to place my shield and sword elsewhere, obviously, but within reach. If Grumble agrees, we could attempt to use silhouettes through the windows to sell the deception. Is this agreeable, Grumblenaught?"

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

"Gunlar, what more do you know about this cavern? It could be very important, so do your best to remember as much as possible."

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Her eyes looking inward for a moment, Kara puts on a sad smile. "I was born in the very heart of Taldor, home of jealousies raised to mountainous heights, and revenge made the height of fashion. The more I think about it, the more I believe that some deity must have put me there so that I would want to leave. I think my time in Lastwall is what truly raised me, for until then I was not a grown woman, simply a girl with high hopes, and grand adventures of do-gooding in my heart."

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Kara will thank Orislav for the divine mending, and apologize for such reckless action. "I was attempting to level the field, as it were."

After Valdisara's story, Kara will ask her, "I've heard differing portions of that tale about many places in Lastwall. Do you hail from there?"

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

I'll be spending the trip going over how I could have avoided getting a mouthful of grass, and reminding myself to stop including reckless bravery in my actions.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Wagon Time!

Spoiler:
Ahh. Then let us alter Kara's intended course of action to say that after Orislav is done with Heal checking, that Kara will withdraw to G6 or G5, if possible, then stand and check for her sword.

Sound good?

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Wagon People!

Spoiler:
Unless I can withdraw when prone, which I doubt, Kara is going to just take her chances.

Kara will prepare to roll to her feet, hoping to avoid the hobgoblin's blade again, sending a prayer to Iomedae in her head to grant her a chance.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

GM Chris and Wagon Crew

Spoiler:
Kara cries out in pain as the hobgoblin stabs her. She curses loudly when she realizes that the blade may be poisoned, by its look, and wonders whether she is hardy enough to resist it
.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

GM Chris and Wagon Crew

Spoiler:
With a grunt of exertion, Kara jumps at Brach, but fails to get a good hold.

I suppose it's up to you to decide what happens now, Chris.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

GM Chris and Wagon Crew

Spoiler:
Kara steps up beside Valdisara, blade and shield prepped for combat, and readies an action to attempt to knock the first enemy that comes within range off their mount by tackling them off the horse.

I can't seem to see post 201. What's there?

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Seeing that I don't have quite enough time to get to the grove unseen, I will decline Orislav's offer, and take up my sword. "Unfortunately, it seems they are upon us too soon for ambush. Let us be ready then."

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

GM Chris and Wagon Crew

Spoiler:
Noting the trees to the left of the road, Kara points out to her companions, "A surprise flank from the cover of those trees may prove of great use to us. Shall I?"

Trying to get a quick response here, so movement would still be possible. Wearing breastplate slows me to 20 ft, unfortunately. Also, it surprised me to note that I had forgotten to buy some sort of ranged weapon for Kara, so stones are all she really has on that front, unless we like the vision of a flying sword.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

GM Chris

Spoiler:
Kara will pull out Silvertongue, and lay it across her knees for easy access. She will attach her shield to her arm, readying for possible combat.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

GM Chris

Spoiler:
Kara is definitely on the lookout. Silvertongue is ready for draw at any moment, and her shield is sitting next to her in easy reach.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Nodding at Valdisara's suggestion, and at the stabler's comment, Kara accepts that the man will not be compensated. "Your heart is truly great, sir," Kara says with a smile. "Shall we harness these horses up, then?"

Just wanted to notify you, Chris, that I probably wont be able to respond on Friday or Saturday. My younger brother is getting married on Saturday, so I'll be helping prep everything on Friday. I'll throw something out on Thursday if it's up before 2 pm, though. Once again, just wanting to let you know. Sorry for the late notice!

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Breathing a sigh of relief, Kara turns back towards the wagon. "Well, that event could have been considerably worse. I am rather glad for their 'cooperation', as it were. I would have hated to draw steel within the town proper. As for money, I have some left."

After the events with what appears to be Frieda's father: "Your kindness is considerable sir. I am continually surprised to find so many of good heart in a town with so many less so endowed. There must be something that I can compensate you with, though."

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Stepping down from the wagon, Kara puts on an easy smile that does nothing to lessen the commanding stare in her eyes. "As my companion points out, I would not advise taking these mounts, as we have paid well for them. Perhaps you would like to investigate another stable, instead of resorting to thievery?"

Going for aid another on Valdisara's Diplomacy check.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

That's fine, I'll stick with the wagon team. Kara appreciates efficiency more than her curiosity about the area's history.

"A sound plan, Valdisara. Very well."

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

I think we can work this out nicely.

"If this sage is as knowledgeable as you say, Zosimus, then he would be a valuable resource to our muster. If you do not object, I shall accompany you meet this man."

Turning to Orislav, Kara speaks, "Can you coordinate the rest of the matter here, Orislav? You have the air of a leader about you."

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

"I thank you for your help, Jolem. We shall do whatever we can to stop these bandits, you've my word."

Stepping back outside, Kara notices negotiations in full swing for a wagon. After a quick recounting of what has transpired, Kara speaks, "I am more than willing to cover whatever remains. Indeed, I could cover the whole cost, should it prove more expedient. Saving that, should we need another outrider, I shall provide as much of the necessary funds as I am able."

Got 55 gp here, plenty for what's needed.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

"A moment. Jolem may perhaps have some idea of where to acquire a wagon, or horses."

Stepping back inside for a moment, Kara asks Jolem, "Pardon again, but do you know of any reliable stablery about where we could acquire a wagon, or perhaps stout horses, even a mule or two from?"

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Stepping outside, Kara greets the others, learning their names.

"Well met, all of you. It pleases me greatly to find so many great-hearted individuals in this place. I had begun to think I was alone in my beliefs out in this wilderness. Pleasantries must be put aside for now, though. The Deputy whispered something to me within the Inn, shortly before Orislav attended to him: "Don't...trust...after...boy..." He seemed very concerned about this, especially considering he risked his already critical condition to relate this information. What do the rest of you make of it?"

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

Items added. Thanks for the look!

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

I tell Jolem quietly, "Please do not spare us the truth, Jolem. Winston is a friend to many of us here, by the appearance of matters. If what you know will render aid to the Deputy, would you relate what you know?"

Going for Diplomacy here.

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

"There are bandits about? Tell me more Deputy."

Hearing Martaug comment about the Rolsen's place, Kara turns about, noticing someone who looks somewhat familiar from her time at Lastwall, along others she has seen about town lately, such as the Varisian fortuneteller, and the dwarven roadguide.

"Ah, it looks like my hopes are answered. You say you are going to the Rolsen's residence? Might I accompany you? Bandits mean trouble, and I've a strong sword to lend."

Those she notices would be Valdisara first(figured that you might be reminiscent of other servitors of Iomedae around Lastwall, just not sure how well Kara knows you), Zosimus(cause she's probably seen you around the town on the street), and Grumblenaught(she does travel around the area, handling problems for the Deputy when possible, so she might have made use of your services). Sorry for the long OOC!

Female Human (Taldan) Fighter 2

*Sob!* Am I...am I the only one? I left peaceably with my parents, no one is trying to actively kill me, I don't go rooting around in tombs...it's like...like...like I'm normal!
