Absalom docks, the Oar Else

Captain Laryssen takes the writ from Lian and scrutinizes it for a moment, just the two of you? Fine, yer sharing a cabin. Now get aboard. We're shoving off! The captain shoves the writ back at Lian and turns and stomps up the gangway, muttering under his breath.

It's feint, but you catch some of what he said.

damn politicians. Like there ain't enough with pirates, now they be getting into everything.

Absalom docks, the Oar Else

The captain looks at the fox and the goblin. what's yer business? I'm busy!

Captain, all supplies aboard and stowed!a rugged sailor states to the captain, standing at attention and just behind his right shoulder.

Wonderful! Prepare to make way! the captain replies before returning his gaze to the two strange individuals before him. well? what do you want?

Johannes waved Katja in I see that your news is not good. Have a seat and tell me about it.

Johannes listens intently, his complexion turns pale at the news of Manaket. Most distressing, no sign of the inhabitants? Manaket is much too large for bandits or even upstart pirate raiding. This magic must have been the problem. But you took care of it?

Waving off Katja's offer for his nephew, he barks a short laugh don't worry about it, I didn't particularly care for him as it was. His wife will be better off as a widow. He was good to his kids though, a shame that.

Standing and walking to a wall, he pulls down on a cord, unrolling a map of the eastern portion of the inner sea. Off to Taldor? Well I do have a venture there. Trade from Taldor has been good. I've even managed to get my hands on some Elven silk. Very rare...

Cassomir is one of the largest shipbuilding ports in the inner sea region.

Johannes stands and holds out a hand in greeting, Lady Katja, many thanks for meeting me on such short notice. He waves her to one of the seats and waves a wait person over.

A bottle of the Tudor '6 please, and I'll have the quail.

After Katja orders he settles back into his seat. As customary, he provides some idle chatter about his latest grandchild, politics in Absolom, and so on.

The meal is superb, as usual for an establishment like the Blank Slate. Once the meal is completed, Johannes sighs, time for business.

It's been really weird, the last couple of days the price for larimar, among a few other gems, has jumped by nearly 800%! The largest mine is down in Garund, and all I've been able to find out is that the mine has been cutoff by some disaster. Now we had a deal and I have enough stock to complete our contract. But I just can't renew with this problem. I sent an agent off to find out what was going on, but I don't expect to hear from him for a few days yet.

At least I'm still getting Azir silk though. In fact, I brought a couple of samples for you to look at. Finest silk this side of the 'Sea!

Johannes sets his glass down and clasps his hands, Reason I'm talking to you, well, I sent my third nephew Lars down to that mine six months ago. He was regularly sending me reports every week. I've missed three. The boats came in from Manaket, but his letters weren't there. I'm afraid something may have happened. And the wife, well her family, they're distraught.

Johannes looks up at Lady Katja, Could you, well, do you know anyone,... Can you find out anything for me?
