About Jocarra Delorr

Background:

Spoiler:
Jocarra Delorr is from a farm family, one of many that live near, but not in, Fallcrest. Her family is a rather large one, as many are. She's the last child of seven, breaking the tie between boys and girls in the family.

She grew up like most farmers do, her early life a mix of easier chores, some schooling in the town, and normal play. As she grew into the 9 and 10 years, she got to go to school more, since the farm wasn't huge. As a result, she was walking back and forth the couple miles to Fallcrest quite a few days a week and making more friends in town.

By the time she was 11, she was quite the little tomboy, and was getting to know the woods around her home very well. She spent a lot of time outside, and was often involved in pranks with some of her friends. She also explored a lot, even going further from her home then her parents wanted. However, she seemed to just have a knack when in the woods - somehow she never ran into wolves, or bears, or anything that would hurt her.

Not long after her 13th birthday, in the dead of winter, she came down with a fever. The family was snowed in, there was no way to go for help, so her mother had to treat her. She was in the fever for almost two weeks, and her family was scared when two small marks, that looked like healed punctures, appeared in her neck.

What they didn't know was that it was not a normal fever - Jocarra was in the spirit world, on a vision quest. The reason she was so good in the woods, the reason she seemed to have so much luck in it, was that she was attuned to the natural world at a deeper, primal, level.

In her mind she was in the darkest wood one could imagine. She was speaking with the spirits of people, of creatures, and exploring it. She understood on some level that one of the creatures here would be linked with her. Many offered, but she - like most children - had a hard time making up her mind.

That's when the spider attacked. A huge spirit spider attacked the girl - she fought back, but she was outclassed and it's fangs found her, it's venom coursing into her. As she fell backwards, she got lucky with a rock and the spider fled. She lay on the floor of the forest, in the spirit world, and various totem animals tried to help the young shaman - the snake succeeded. The snake spirit bit her - the marks her family saw - and drew the poison out.

When Jocarra woke up she was changed. Her hair, once soft and brown, now had a green streek running through it. And that wasn't all, she had what everyone thought was a ghost snake. It was really her spirit companion, but no one understood that.

In the two years since the, she's become the resident town creepy girl. She talks to things no one else can see, and walks around with a ghost snake wrapped around her. She's by no means anti social, but, she freaks people out and makes them nervous. It became even more so a few months back when a girl disappeared. Jocarra walked into the inn where the search party was gathering and said, in her slightly eerie voice "You will find her in her basement, under the floor. Her spirit told me where she was." The girl's father protested, but the watch went to the home - and found the murdered girl.

Of course, that just cemented Jocarra's creepy rep, since now everyone thought she could see secrets, which, of course, she could not. Beeing a teen, though, she plays on those fears, one of her tricks being to look at someone, and just shake her head with a sigh and walk off, letting thier mind wonder what she 'knows'.
