BACKGROUND
Growing up dirt poor on the fringes of society, Jinjer Majet always felt there had to be something more to the life she was born to. The middle child of six, she worked the fields like the rest of her family, and paid service to Baal and his Dwarves. She worked hard and played hard too - spending her meager free time alone in the woods - running, leaping, climbing, fighting pretend bandits and goblins...and Dwarves, although she was careful not to be caught. Stealth was her friend and once her older brother, Bender, taught her to shoot a bow, she brought meat to the table for her family. Squirrels mostly and a pheasant if she was lucky; once she got a young deer, but, she had to wait until dark to sneak it into the barn lest it be discovered. Dwarves don't favor poachers no more than they favor blasphemers...or humans.
"She's got the wild in her" was a familiar phrase used to describe Jinjer among the Gnome community. Although, most had learned not to breathe it in her hearing lest they come away bloody. As she got older, she began to believe it too and she spent more and more time roaming the woods and hills and less time in the fields. She couldn't explain it, but she felt the call of Kurnan in those adolescent years...and answered it willingly, pledging her life to the wilds, opening her soul to this god of beasts and wilderness.
When she became a young woman, she set out on her own and never looked back. She would drop in on her family once in awhile or check on them when they weren't aware, but mostly she kept to herself. She learned to craft bows and arrows and make some coin selling them in towns. And she learned to hate the goblinoid race and just about anyone else who tried to hurt or subjugate her. Dwarves were alright, but she was growing weary of licking their boots. She longed for something else...something with more purpose. Perhaps the upcoming Jarl Moot might reveal something that will fulfill that purpose...if Kurnan wills it, she will obey.
