Jenkin meets the stereotype of the big, burly woodcutter, standing 6'2" in his bare feet and having the bulk to match. He actually weighs a bit more than normal for his size; he's a big eater, and while at this point in that life most of that extra weight is muscle mass, he does look like the type who could very quickly go to seed in his middle age once his physical activity slows down. For now, though, he's in his prime and, at least in his own mind, is convinced he looks great (and confidence is half the battle, right?) He has closely-cropped dark brown curly hair, (often plastered to his scalp with perspiration) and hazel eyes. He's not without flaws- there's a natural gap in his front teeth that shows when he smiles (and he smiles a lot) and notable other chips and crooked teeth from a few too many brawls. Another artifact of those fights is a nose that clearly has been broken and reset more than once. Lastly, his voice is much softer and higher-pitched than one might expect from someone who otherwise looks and carries himself like the manliest of men. (With some vocal training, he'd actually be a remarkably good high tenor.) Heroforge Figure Personality:
Jenkin is easygoing and amiable at a first glance. He actually likes to think he just presents a persona of amiability, mixed with a stereotypical 'big dumb lug' approach to social life, but is actually cunningly outwitting the people around him at all times by lowering their expectations. The actual truth of the matter is, though, he's just really kindhearted and ultimately nowhere near as smart as he thinks he is, and just doesn't have that kind of subterfuge in him. More often than not, this means he tries to manipulate someone, immediately backs down upon seeing the consequences of his actions, and then gets played himself by the other party who, in all likelihood, saw through him all along. Basically, he's just smart enough to get himself into trouble but not clever enough to get out of it. This applies to his relationships with women, as well, which goes a long way towards explaining the circumstances he's in now. Background:
Born and raised in the Hollow, life as a forester was pretty much ordained for Jenkin by the time he hit his eighth birthday and was already bigger and stronger than most boys his age. His father (also a forester) died in a logging accident some years ago, while his mother developed leperosy when he was in his teens, dying in the leper colony outside town just a few years back. They'd never had children besides Jenkin, so he was left alone and needing to find his own way. There weren't a lot of other options in town, and traveling away seemed too much of a bother at the time, so he just went with the flow as he aged into his teens, apprenticing as a woodcutter at 14 and taking it on as his livelihood by 16. His life for the past few years has been days of hard labor and nights of relaxing his weary muscles by lifting nothing heavier than a pint at the Jak'a'Napes. He has nurtured some ambitions of advancing his way in the world, (or at least the Lumber Consortium, which to a Falcon Hollower is pretty much the same thing...), but to date his schemes to do so haven't led to any positive results, and if anything have set him back further. And now, he's out of a job completely, the results of a brief but memorable affair with the wife of one of the logging bosses. Much like every other cunning bit of subterfuge he's employed in his life, what he thought of as a discreet bit of fun was almost immediately discovered by the cuckolded husband in question. Jenkin won the resulting physical confrontation, clocking the boss out cold without himself suffering more than a chipped tooth. but the after her husband recovered from his bout with unconsciousness, Jenkin found himself out of work and altogether blacklisted by the Consortium. He decided this was ultimatley a good thing; he hadn't wanted to just drift along felling trees his whole life, right? Obviously this was just another way for him to improve his life by getting back on his feet and finding a new career path. He sunk whatever meager savings he had into buying some basic adventuring equipment, and has since taken up nightly residence at the Sitting Duck, hoping some party of adventurers will take note of the brawny, handsome young man by the bar and hire him.
He's still waiting for that offer. Special Abilities
