Location: Periphery. Brotherhood stronghold located on the moon Vrachos.
It seemed like a collection of huts and rubble now, the smoke rising from the pile was evidence of how recent violence had been perpetrated in this place. From his position atop his eq-mech mount Severus had seen a double line of skirmishers move toward and into the ruins. There was silence broken only by the low soughing of the wind for some minutes which was finally broken by the sound of sporadic ion discharge from within the combat zone but even this was short lived… as Severus had expected.
Behind him Severus had the main body of his force standing ready, ten thousand strong, mainly ion-lancers, supplemented by a detachment of five hundred eq-mech cavalry and to the rear the artillery force which had decimated what had been until a round an hour ago a stronghold of the Brotherhood here on Vrachos.
Ten minutes in, Severus saw a lone scout returning from the ruins at a jog. He was met by the forward lookouts who brought the lightly armed soldier back to deliver his report. Severus sat in silence while the young soldier saluted and then spoke to Archus one of Severus’ staff officers, Severus continued to wait patiently as the soldier was brought to stand before him.
"Legate, this man brings news." stated Archus, the man was something of an oaf but a well meaning and loyal one, something Severus acknowledged and tolerated.
"I can see that Archus." Severus stated, his face remained impassive as he spoke, his voice calm and unemotional, "Soldier make your report." he said looking directly at the youth who stood before him.
