Since Eventide, something is wrong with the world.
Not all at once, but slowly, day by day this vital spark drains from the world. Most live their whole lives without ever noticing, too busy with their own troubles to realize that the next night may be the last. But there are some who see the gathering darkness and decide that if they can buy the world just one more day, that it would be a fight worth dying for. You are that hero. Eventide is a campaign setting designed to take advantage of everything that Pathfinder Second Edition has to offer! Built by one of the designers of the game, Eventide feels right at home within the rules of the game. Here is just a few, spoiler free, examples of how Eventide gets the most out of Pathfinder:
And that is just the start! Eventide features new rules and options for players and GMs to use when playing in this world, making for a rich and engaging play experience! A new ancestry, the Gloamling, is available NOW for Patrons and the Penumbrist class will become available to Patrons in the coming weeks! You can learn more about Eventide by visiting the Minotaur Games Website! You can support the campaign setting, getting a first look a the world and taking part in the playtest and introductory adventure over on Patreon.
So, just to add a small amount of clarity here folks, since I assumed some things were known in my statement. Jessica was not my boss, nor was I hers. We were coworkers at about the same level on the org chart. The relationship between me and her deteriorated afterwards for a number of reasons, and while my awkwardness over the situation likely contributed, I believe that a huge part of it was office politics over one specific project, an event that damaged my relationship with a number of coworkers, including my boss. That said, I respect that everyone might see these matters differently and I am not here to tell you to think otherwise. This is my perspective on events of over 6 years ago and I have learned a lot and changed my behaviors in the office since.
Sean Montgomery 7819 wrote: I just noticed the missing domain and focus spell as well. Is there an official ruling on this? So, a couple of notes. Folks have already caught the typo. The Acrobatics should be a +12. As for the missing domain, looks like that is on me. Sorry about that. It was supposed to be the Water domain, with the Tidal Surge focus spell. I will see about getting that changed here in the near future. Hope folks are enjoying the adventure. I had a good time putting this one together.
Folks, People should play the games that they enjoy. If they want to post a video about why they are leaving that is their choice, but that is no excuse for folks here to be rude and insulting to one another. As most of Paizo is on vacation right now, I am going to go ahead and close this thread down to try and preserve what is left of my holiday cheer. Be kind to each other. Play games. Let folks find what joy they can in the things they like. See you all next year. This thread is locked.
Folks, Much of Paizo is out over the holiday break and moderation is not the top of any of our to do lists. Since this thread has broken down in a variety of ways, I am going to go ahead and lock it in the interest of keeping things civil until we are back up and running in the new year. Be kind to each other folks.. and if you cant find a way to do that, then take some time to find your calm. We are all here to play games and have fun. This thread is locked.
Hey there folks, Going all the way back to the first Pathfinder playtest, we have never equated "loud or angry" with "correct". I have always advised the team to look beyond the post and its remedies to the underlying cause of the discussion to understand where we need to focus our work. That said, I am frequently dismayed by the behavior of some folks here on the boards, who use playtests as an excuse to argue with and belittle my team and other posters. I expect better. That said, we also do not need a thread to discuss this behavior. The focus here is on playtesting. Lets keep to that. This thread is locked.
Folks, We have never really be interested in arguing whether or not a game element will exist in the game. Once we have reached the point of the playtest, it is almost entirely decided. Giving a comment that a class does not feel different enough from an archetype is a useful piece of feedback, but debating its existence is not. This thread is locked.
As a note here folks, We welcome all of your feedback and comments on these classes. We are NOT interested in watching you troll and bicker with each other. Folks who engage in such behavior will be asked to leave the playtest. That said, noting that there is a playstyle difference in the Magus is something we will investigate, although I want it said that it has never been our intent to exactly recreate every class in the new edition. That simply is not an option. Once we get some actual play data from folks, we will be looking at ways to tweak and improve both of these classes. That is, after all, what a playtest is all about.
Hey there folks, Just thought I would drop a link to a new show that Dan and I have put together, pitting squads of Pathfinder Monsters against one another in a deadly arena contest! Enter the MAUL! Right now we are just doing some preseason matches to iron out any kinks before the first season begins! You can find episode 1 up on my YouTube Channel! Watch VS. The Ogre Brothers
Hey there folks, Since launching the Band of Bravos stream, I have gotten a lot of requests to release the maps that I created for the game. Early on (in the first couple of sessions), every map was hand drawn, and while we are looking for a way to get those all out to you, the later maps are now available! All of the maps from the later part of the show were built using a Tile Set I have been designing for the past few months and as of today, those sets are now up on the roll20 store! So, go grab them and build your own classic dungeons! Jason Bulmahn
Hey there all, I have been, in my copious free time stuck here at home, been working on some GM advice videos over on my YouTube channel. So far I have covered tips for writing one shot games and advice for GMs running a game for just 1 or 2 players. If folks have ideas for more that might be applicable in this challenging times, leave a comment. Stay safe everybody and keep gaming!
Folks, This is not the place to have a pedantic argument over word choice and meaning, and how that relates to your thoughts on P2. And to be frank, the sniping and baiting here is terribly disappointing. I am going to go ahead and refer this over to moderation. I doubt they will reopen the thread, as it has drifted terribly from its original premise. This thread is locked.
krazmuze wrote: It really should only be the end level boss of each dungeon is severe. But for some reason I think the designer is chortling in glee reading this thread lurking for his next victim... Not really, but the module is designed to ramp in complexity and difficulty as it goes on. One of the big learning curves of 2E is that fights play differently and tactics should always be a part of your plan when going into a fight. Simply running in and walking at things is going to get you killed in some encounters. But I digress... I am glad to hear that folks are enjoying the module. I had a blast writing and play testing the module. Maybe next time.. I will include less things that have bleed.
So... There will not be another round of play testing. We are getting a lot of great data from the Surveys that is going to allow us to refine these classes for the final version of the book. Since this thread is already filled with flags and edition warring, I am going to call it done. This thread is locked.
Folks, just to speak on the topic of the Tengu Oracle... When looking at the iconics for Pathfinder 2nd Edition, we are always on the look out for ways to offer up a different look and feel for these vital characters. In the past, they have been primarily human, so with the new edition we have decided to mix it up a bit, adding characters that represent different ancestries in the game. Our new tengu character is just one example of where we decided to go in a different direction, but you will still find Alahazra in our game as a sample Oracle.
This thread is entirely gone off topic from what the OP started. As for our opinions on the social contract at the table, they are in the book, plain for everyone to read. We believe that everyone has a right to be treated equally at the table and that their life is valid and worthy of being explored and expressed. We also believe that everyone should feel comfortable at the game table, that this being a game means that everyone should enjoy themselves and be comfortable, but making this happen requires honest communication and empathy from all involved. If this is somehow controversial for you, if you cannot come to a place where you treat your fellow players with this basic decency and respect, then Pathfinder, and perhaps even Roleplaying Games themselves, are not for you. This thread is locked. I invite the Original Poster to try this thread again if they like. Jason Bulmahn
Folks... The hyperbole here is a bit much. This is one errata document and it is not, nor was it ever, intended to be the patch that fixes everything in the game. What it was intended to do was fix some things that, in our estimation, seemed like they did not work at all or were obvious oversights from the first printing. There will be more changes in the future, there will be moves to balance out things a bit better. Many folk here clearly have taken issue with how some things work and how they are balanced in the game. We hear that. Some will get updated in the future. Others will not based on what we see as the best path forward for the game. If your first inclination is to claim that we "hate" one of the classes, or that we are in some way maliciously ignoring all of the feedback in this and other threads, you should probably take a step back and realize that we are doing our best to make this the best game possible. Sometimes that means focusing on the next release so that it can be good too before going back to rebalance everything in the previous release. Managing a game of this size and complexity is a full time job.. for me and a lot of other people here at Paizo. We want to make the game better every time we work on it. For now, this errata is what we have time for. There will be more in the near future. Until then... This thread is locked. Jason Bulmahn
Heya folks... So, we are working on the classes and the errata right NOW (see I can use caps too). I am hoping to get the errata out ASAP, but I doubt it will be will be this week with the load on the editing department. As for the playtest... It looks like we are going to miss the end of October Deadline.. but just by a little. I will give you all a firm date when we have it. This is on me folks... I am trying to ensure that we get these things right and that is taking a bit more time than we expected. I would have let you know sooner, but I just had to change the schedule in this mornings coordination meeting, so you are getting the news as soon as I had it. Thanks for understanding. We will get you more info very soon. Jason Bulmahn
Folks, Rarity exists as a tool to help players and GMs have a language by which they can easily understand what is and what is not generally available. We used the system in a variety of ways in the core to exemplify its utility, placing some spells in the uncommon rarity that have a huge impact on overall storytelling and gating off some features that have a cost associated with their acquisition. Like all tools in the game, your group is free to use them, modify them, or outright ignore them, but for many this system is a boon, giving a framework for everyone to understand the game world a little bit better. I can get why this is not to everyone's taste. The hope here is that down the road, this will make the game much more manageable for everyone. Seeing as this thread has had a number of folk getting rather heated and arguing in bad faith, I think we are going to give this topic a rest for now. We have heard your thoughts and will continue to evaluate and improve the system going forward. This thread is locked.
Hey there all, I forgot to update it here, but you can catch every moment of Season 1 of Knights of Everflame right here at this YouTube link! Looking forward to Season 2, filming SOON!
Hey there folks, Turns out, getting the GMG to the printer, combined with prepping for the APG playtest, all the while collecting and collating updates, has left us in a bit of a crunch. So.. here is what I can tell you. The updates are being compiled and we are getting much closer to releasing the first list of patches and corrections. We want to get these right, and while is will in no way be comprehensive, we hope to hit a lot of the concerns all at once. It will come out before the APG playtest, which is still on schedule for sometime in October (trending toward late October at this point). We take this very seriously and avoid giving "off the cuff" responses to problems, as they often lead to more confusion than they solve. Unfortunately, that means we give less advice that some would prefer, but it is the only way to keep the machine moving forward and to keep things clear for all of you. Hope that helps.
