Background

Spoiler:

Issac, the son of a Morgrave professor lived an isolated life for most of his childhood. His mother died when he was young and his father was often preoccupied with his duties at the university. As a result Issac spent much of his childhood alone in his father's library or with a tutor. Young Issac possessed a gift for gab and a natural instinct for langugage. He also had a prediliction for magic as a means of persuasion or trickery. His stern father cared little for his manner and 'mischievous' nature and their already cold relationship grew further cold.
He attended Morgrave where he worked industriously with languages and ancient scripts. In his spare time under the tutelage of a fencing master Issac acquainted himself with the basics of swordplay. As the war raged on the young Breland patriot was recruited in a group known as Blengrave Park named after their offices that overlook a small park on the campus. This group of diviners, linguists and cryptographers assisted in intercepting enemy communications, and decrypting codes used. While providing Issac with some experience he still wished to do more and volunteered for field work.
Despite some success Vale was unprepared for the horrors of war and after a botched robbery in Aundair he escaped only to be picked up by a patrol in the country. He was brought to a pow camp in Aundair. There Vale assisted several other prisoners in staging an escape in the confusion that followed the Day of Mourning. He made his way back to Sharn where he turned up on his father's doorstep in a ragged state. Father and son remain distant but they are still bound to one another. His father has found a new respect for his son as a result of his deeds in the war yet Issac has begun to understand his father's unwillingness to be involved in the political arena. As a result of his experiences in the Great War Issac has tired of the machinations of nation states and kings.
Since then he has struck out as a freelance Inquisitive and making contact with previous acquaintances from the War is now involved in operating an agency.

Contacts

Spoiler:

Dr. Wroanfellow

One of the senior members of the Blengrave Park, Wroanfellow was a mentor and a friend to Issac. He is an older man but the two still stay in touch, meeting here and there, for matches of chess. Wroanfellow is an occasional source of information re the still thriving world of espionage. The doctor occassionally expresses his wish for Issac to return to working for Breland.

Madame Zerann

A fortunteller and charlatan, the half-elf, Madame Zerann was in fact another spy working for Breland during the war. The two met and even had a brief three day relationship before Issac was captured by Aundair. Issac has some suspicion that she may have sold him and his team out to save her own skin but doesn't know for certain. Since the end of the war she has put her skills to use in Sharn's underworld as a con-artist. Issac has little love for her new line of work but can't bring himself to act against her either. The two act openly act like old friends but there is always an undercurrent of tension and suspicion between them. Zerrann has in the past helped Issac's investigations and in turn he has provided some tips and early warnings to her.
