Background:
Ishwor’s original constructor had made him for a very specific purpose, assassinations. He built the android for this specific purpose so acutely that he reduced the circuitry for personality far more than standard androids and also repurposed the nanites flowing in Ishwor’s bloodstream to be more disposed to causing problems instead of repairing things. The intent was to make Ishwor’s weapon all the more deadly not just from precise strikes to vital organs, but injecting the nanites to poison the intended victim.

((OOC – I’m looking to change the poison of the Eldritch Poisoner archetype from an alchemist concoction/magical substance to nanite technology. I’m not looking to change the game mechanics of the poison, I’m just wanting to use the nanites as the poison as a flavor text thing))

Ishwor is also quite adept at stealth as his creator spent a great deal of time working on hydraulic joints for softer impact. He even developed a software program to help Ishwor learn how to re-program his nanites to change the poison effect for maximal benefit as the android learns more about his targets and the nanite functions. Ishwor’s creator really outdid himself when he made the android.

However, the craftsmanship and quality was all for naught. During transport of Ishwor while in an offline state there was a cascade of events that one could argue were either unfortunate or serendipitous depending on the observer. The cart he was in hit a pothole trap that cracked the axel of the cart toppling it over. Most of the goods in the cart flew out into the night including Ishwor. He bounced off of a jagged boulder sticking out of the ground that created some minor damage to his circuitry. Bandits rushed the cart to kill the driver and take the goods. The bandits didn’t have a list of goods, so were none the wiser about the android when Ishwor bounced further away than the rest of the goods. A windstorm the same night resulted in Ishwor winding up buried under enough earth and sand to hide the body for a couple of years before the elements dug the body back up again. During the storm that uncovered Ishwor’s body a bolt of lightning struck his chestplate and jump started the android.

As Ishwor came out of the offline state the damaged circuitry became apparent. Much of the limited personality programming he was given by his creator was wiped as was his understanding of who he is. The motor programming was intact, though disjointed in how it manifested. The silence of his step from the subtle hydraulics in the joints persisted, but the feedback signal from the joints to his brain was not making the connection. This resulted in him having no idea of how quietly he moved. He could sneak up on animals in the wastes without actually trying to be quiet. Ishwor also didn’t have a conceptual framework for what the punch dagger that he held was, but the intact motor program resulted in what could only be called instinctual use of it to stab the critters he would sneak up on. He did notice that the critters he “touched” with the dagger would become “docile and peaceful” shortly after contact. Seeing as the motor programming was intact and the nanites were tied into his motor programming, the signal link between him and the nanites survived the damage. So, he could feel the nanites leaving his body, transferring to the dagger, and then to the creature “touched.” He began to interpret the nanite transfer as what caused the peacefulness.

Fast forward a few years and we find Ishwor in the town of Torch. His arrival into the town was a bit of a shock to his system, as all he learned over the couple of years wandering around the barrens of Numeria did not prepare him for humanoid society. The first few weeks was a great deal of taking in information to understand these new people that populated the town. He tried to study interactions to learn what appropriate behavior was. The damaged personality circuits made this learning troublesome. He quickly learned that people tended to respond well to each other when they are smiling, and the bigger the smile the better the reaction. It has turned into Ishwor punctuating most sentences with a large smile, and sadly it is quite creepy coming from an android. The damaged personality circuits was just enough to not be able to understand that he is creeping people out with his smiles. Couple this with his uncanny ability to move silently, and we have a perfect disaster of people turning to see a grinning android behind them with no idea that he was there in the first place. He never could make out why people always ran away.

Ishwor also found that there were religious types who would preach about deities. He had no concept of what a deity was, but did notice that many people seem to find comfort in the preaching. He started studying texts he could find on the deities, and noticed that Desna appeared to make people more content than others. This seemed tied to the concept of freedom, which he read meant free will to live as you please without others telling you what to do. He noticed that there was a large group identified as the Technic League whom people associated with being told what to do. As far as Ishwor could tell, the people of the Technic League didn’t understand the peace of freedom. He decided that he should preach the teachings of Desna, and show the Technic League the peacefulness he was able to bring with the strange tool he held in his hand. It wasn’t hard to find people to ally with in his mission to help with his “preaching” and showing people “peace” with the “implement” he carried around.
