About Iron Feather
Standing at just above six feet tall, Iron Feather, a young male human, has an impressive physical frame and weathered, sun-tanned skin that is crisscrossed with various faint scars. His broad shoulders and well-muscled physique suggest his great physical strength. His features are normally held in a carefully controlled neutral expression, but his deep brown eyes betray a determined gleam. He wears heavy leather leggings, hide straps across his chest, and a feathered cloak of griffon hide with a hood made to resemble the creature's eagle-like head. This cowl conceals his shaved scalp which is tattooed with several Shoanti runes. His clothing leave his chest and muscular arms bare which exposes a rather ornate symbol tattooed on his right shoulder. He has a quiver of arrows and a short-bow slung over his shoulder, but held in both of his hands is a massive, crude looking, hammer that features multiple blunt spikes on the head that seems to be a more suitable weapon for one of his build.
Nakai was born to the Shriikirri-Quah in the Storval Plateau and was raised to be a Shoanti warrior and outrider. He gained his 'true name' of Iron Feather when he stood strong during an attack by a griffon when he was fourteen years old. He undertook the 'Plummet' soon afterwards, and during the fall he had a strange vision of a Griffon flying out and away from the plateau and roosting in a distant land, and so he took the Griffon as his spirit totem. As he grew older and stronger, he became infatuated with a Shoanti warrior of the Sklar-Quah (Sun Clan); Inola “Scorch Trail,” a burn rider of her clan who had powers over flames themselves. When he was eighteen the two of them spent much time together in a passionate relationship. The two of them differed on their opinions of the tshamek that would visit the Storval Plateau from time to time, however. When one of the Shriikirri-Quah, a young boy named Takota, became lost on the plains and was saved by a Pathfinder, a flechling named Kam, Scorch Trail became angry. She believed the tshamek should be slain because he had trespassed on an ancient sacred site. When Iron Feather defended the flechling, she became violent and actually tried to kill Kam. In the ensuing chaos, however, her flame spells missed the Pathfinder and scorched the young Takota. Shocked and shamed by her actions, she irrationally blamed Iron Feather for what had happened and attempted fled on horseback. After that, Iron Feather and Kam returned Takota to the Shriikirri-Quah, but Iron Feather couldn't stay. He couldn't face the Quah or Scorch Trail again and so he decided to follow his vision and go with Kam to the city of Absalom where he was welcomed into the Pathfinders. He has spent the last two years undergoing Pathfinder training and helping at the Grand Lodge's stables as he shares his Quah's skill with animals.
Iron Feather is a quiet and introverted young man. He longs for the feeling of family and belonging, but feels forever outside the normal societies that he finds himself in and outcast from the society he left (although he was his own decision to leave having difficulty facing Takota and Scorch Trail). He has a strong sense of community that he expresses by his desire (almost compulsion) to defend all those whom have shown him friendship and kindness. His rage manifests as a sort of single minded determination and focus, and he rarely bellows battle cries or froths at the mouth like many expect a barbarian to.
