Clan Crafter
Feature: Respect of the Stout Folk: Though coming from a clan who's name is in shambles, Hulgruum has earned a reputation for himself through sheer persistence and an unwavering dedication to helping out his community and people. His skills in the smithy have only cemented people's trust in him, despite his family's disgraced station.
Personality
Quick to laughter and rude humor, Hulgruum at first glance is a typical example of the average dwarf: loud, uncouth, steadfast and stubborn. However, intertwined with the insults and gruff or sarcastic remarks (depending on the situation), is a deeply entrenched belief that the world will only be a place worth living in if people help and support each other.
Bonds
Hulgruum's mother, Kathga, once stood in between him and a crowd of angry drunks who were jeering at their family name and throwing rocks. Kathga bled for her son. Hulgruum would do the same in a heartbeat for his mother.
Hulgruum's uncle, Orgrim, though a salty and uncouth man, is also the closest thing he has had to a father since fleeing to the New World. Hulgruum owes all of his training as a smith and most of his understanding of the world to his uncle's long and frequently tipsy lectures in the forge.
Flaws
Hulgruum once spent a month working from dawn until late night fixing fences for an elderly couple, so that their livestock wouldn't escape. He continued to do this on top of his usual lessons in the forge, and eventually collapsed from exhaustion for several days.
Though equipped with a robust sense of humor, Hulgruum has little patience for roundabout or over-complicated solutions to simple problems (and as far as he's concerned, most problems are simple).
Hulgruum once implied that a prominent son of a merchant family "longed for the kindling touch of his sister," during a heated tavern argument. He earned a black eye and split lip for his trouble. To be fair, the pompous prick had it coming.
Ideals
"A wall is only as strong as its mortar."
The only way a healthy and prosperous society can exist is if its people all help each other.
"Without the haft, an axe is just a lump o' metal."
Just because someone cannot help themselves, does not mean they don't deserve help.
