About Helène Yolescu
Botting instructions:
Short character profile
Helène Yolescu is a former Sczarni merchant who used to procure items (both legal and illegal) for the family alchemical business. Following an experiment with a mutagen based on parts from a young fortune dragon, she had a change of heart and quit the company. She moved to Absalom, where she met up with a cousin who was already a member of the Pathfinder Society. For various reasons, she joined as well.
Helène prides herself on her business acumen and her ability to 'get things done'. She knows how to defend herself in a fight, using her wits and new-found magical powers to make the most of her moderate physical ability.
Appearance:
Helène is a woman in her late thirties whose Varisian heritage is unmistakable. When on her business in Absalom she prefers casual but well-tailored clothes, often seen in a loose divided skirt, high-fitting white shirt with billowing sleeves and a snug waistcoat, mostly in shades of brown and red. She wears a holy symbol of Abadar around her neck, as well as a necklace with coins of various metals as bangles. Since her experiment with the experimental fortune dragon mutagen, she finds herself subconsciously thumbing the coins when she's deep in thought. While out on a mission she swaps the divided skirts for practical trousers and complements the outfit with a bandolier of consumables, sturdy overcoat and backpack.
Detailed background:
Helène Yolescue is a Sczarni business woman, who has spent most of her adult life as a merchant for the extended Yolescu’s family business in alchemical products. She was responsible for purchasing (legal) commodities for the company’s common alchemical items, and for procuring the (shady) substances that were needed for the more innovative research into ever-powerful mutagens.
One day she got her hands on some body parts of a young fortune dragon, from which her cousins promptly distilled a very potent mutagen. Helène, proud of her knack for finding the parts, wanted to be the first to test the mutagen. The results were potent indeed, and quite unsuspected. After she had recovered from growing scales and destroying half the lab with her breath weapon, she discovered that she had also had a change of heart. Which seemed to be permanent, contrary to the physical dragon aspects she’d briefly taken on.
Now appalled by the Yolescu’s business practices, she quit the family company and moved to Absalom. There, she met up with Cornil, another cousin. This somewhat slow-witted brawler had previously been used by the Yolescu alchemists as a guinea pig of sorts, to field-test a mutagen based on a captive earth elemental. She got along well with Cornil, and eventually joined the Pathfinder Society as well. She wants to make amends with Cornil, repay her debt to society, and hopefully meet an actual dragon someday.
