I've got an idea I'd like to throw into the ring. Allow me to introduce Noptis Ehbre, the unholy hybrid between Mcgyver, the most forgettable man, and James Bond with a bit of atrophied social skills who just wants to keep the planes afloat so he can relax with his wife. I'm thinking a Human Gloomblade/Cipher mix.
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (3, 6, 2, 1) - 1 = 11
The dice god have given me a most interesting set up, and one that frankly is begging for a mad build. If we drop the 11 for an 8, that's a fairly even stat block. Skald maybe, but definitely something more backline. I need to step outside my sword loving habits.
Well, I might have lost most of my night, but I have Belath, Warrior Slave (Tyrant in Hiding) to present. The Fluff needs a bit of fine tuning, but the rough shape is there. Crunch:

-Born in Korvosa, Belath had the dual misfortune of being born an Aasimar and gifted in the art of war, marking her at an early age for indoctrination into the Gray Maidens. It'd had seemed fate had a change of heart with the death of the queen coming shortly into her conditioning, signaling freedom. However, instead of the sweet taste of freedom, Belath soon found herself clad in chains once more, this time sold out by her fellows. Eventually, she ended up sold to the ruling family as an exotic pet. In the process of corrupting her as a favored pastime, the Thrunes accidentally converted her to the Whore Queens faith. As her vile and cruel nature grew, so did her unholy power. Entertained by this walking contradiction of a devil in angel flesh, they trained her to be a loyal retainer of war, to be loaned to any family member in need of a strong arm and a disarming face. In the wake of the disappearance of the ruling family, Quinus was quick to recover the family pet to consolidate his power base. -Belath has loyalty to none but herself, seeking power. However, she is well aware of her station, and has hidden her ambition under the facade of a broken girl seeking to please her master. This civil war has present the perfect opportunity for her to gain a loyal following, and usurp power. Belath fully plans to be on the winning side, which every side that ends up being. -I'm unfamiliar with solo games, but the idea sounds intriguing. I have some fears for lack of bases being covered due to a single PC, but the narrative focus on a single character has me greatly intrigued.
4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 6, 3) = 18 15
The dice gods are generous tonight! Time to get creative. So out of curiosity, both unchained and original variants of classes are okay? I will admit a desire to play a synthesist, but totally understand if that's not okay. Also, what are the limits on races available for selection?
Figured I may as well roll, and see what the dice guide me towards. 4d6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 5, 6, 2) - 2 = 13
Well, I'll take those rolls. Now it's time for the ideas to start flowing.
Hmm, I'm thinking unchained rogue with the roof runner archetype, with the duelist prestige class later on. Focusing on sword play and out of party skills. HP: 1d8 ⇒ 2 so my HP would be 12 with 8 extra skills atop rogue's 8 + 2 if I am doing everything correctly. I think for my special thing I'll take a tidepool dragon as a familiar. That, or some type of dimensional step using shadows.
Well, here goes nothing. 0-10:
Born to a young couple in a small town nestled in the Rockies, Einar was named for his great grandfather. Due to isolation from the local community, Einar grew up adventurous but alone. The young boy however was very friendly, and eager to share the latest factoid he had learned with anyone willing to listen. His mother fostered a love of reading and knowledge while his father taught him how to use his hands to build. At the age of 6 his family moved into deeper into the mountains, giving the young boy a much wider world to explore in his free time. At school the young Einar was lazy, often doing the bare minimum to satisfy teachers so he could pursue his own objects, namely reading. However, the isolation had left him with little social skills, something the other children pounced on. 10-20:
A rather slim boy, Einar lacked much for muscle and physical size. Due to his parents concern about how the other kids treated Einar, he wound up enrolled in a martial arts class around the age of 11. There, Einar discovered another passion besides reading and his own self confidence. Due to distaste for the people of his hometown, Einar adopted a blunt, unfriendly persona for dealing with his equals. Taking up gaming, several shop classes, and track as well during his adolescence, Einar ended up graduating with distinction in highschool. At college, the young Einar found another passion in the lab, and started to solidify his own self via tattoos and an adoption of Buddhism. If I was to give my own stats, I'd probably be str 10, dex 14,con 14,int-14, wisdom -12, and charisma a 7 or 6. Granted, I feel Con and int are justified by the fact I've survived be hit by a car and getting a pretty decent scholarship respectively, but I'm probably biased. I'd probably die wearing one of my leather jackets, t shirt, my tags, jeans with a belt, pocket knife, pens and pencils, wallet, keys, and phone. If anything is wrong please let me know.
I've been trying to get into a Rise of the Runelords game for quite some time. None of those rules seem draconian to me, so I'll throw a hat in the ring. 4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 5, 6) = 19-17
Wow, I think those die rolls are asking for a good concept. Maybe a monk with the wizard archetype or maybe wizard multiclass. Definitely a frontliner with perhaps a touch of damage dealer? I still need to work through the new rules a bit before anything gets too concrete.
@DM Default
Side question, rough how much time is spent socializing and how much is spent in more combat situations? I intend to play both, but I was just curious. Also, does the team have any sort of hideout or meeting place?
Well, I've been curious as to play an Apocalypse powered game, and am always down for some rocking roll play. If I made any goofs, please let me know, and anything I can improve/clarify. I tried to post this last night, but Paizo was having none of that. Rulebook-The Bull:
Appearance-Lee Kokuin, otherwise known as Shadowboxer, is not what most people expect from a notorious brawler. A couple inches under 6 feet and with a placid expression, many might assume he was a runner with the lean build he has. Only the tattoos peaking out from under sleeves and scarred knuckles betray his aggressive tendencies.
As Shadowboxer, he favors a black pair of gi pants, weighted leather gloves, and a ballistic mask to hide his face. His chest is filled with tattoos, from a wave crashing across his left pectoral to a chain of flowers trailing down his right arm and more that give him a very thuglike vibe.. Powers-The son of a high level enforcer in the Senshi-Oni, Lee was taught how to fight from an early age by a variety of martial artists. However, it was his kidnapping by a rival clan where his powers appeared, and Shadowboxer was born. Lee's shadow is solid, and can help in a variety of ways at the cost of it disappearing. Lee can coat himself in it, turning into a raging monochrome juggernaut, or can cause it to reflexively form a protective barrier, or most importantly, form a body double that can act independent. Even without his shadow, Lee is a trained fighter, and used to pain. Prompt: It's good to just chill with some nature for a change. Lee was relaxing on a bench at Verdant Park in downtown Halycon, his battered sneakers kicked up on fancy handrail lining the side. The young man had chosen to wear a shirt with longer sleeves, to keep people from giving him the dirty eye upon seeing his ink. It's not worth the hassle, and I want to actually be able to enjoy this. And enjoying it he was, book in hand and reclined in the sun, waiting for his girlfriend to show up.
A sudden quake tossed him from his bench, the Asian teen landing face first on the concrete. With a murmured curse, Lee rose to his feet to see a plume of smoke from Reaver Technology's new high rise, the supposed R and D division but a couple blocks from him. Damn it, what if Nat is there? Glancing at the crowd around him gawking at the sight, Lee exhaled before stuffing his book in the worn Halycon University Backpack, feeling his…alternative outfit resting in the bottom. Now's as good as ever I guess. Dashing into the bathroom, and feeling cheesy as hell for it, Lee quickly stripped and put on his combat outfit, pulling the internal belt on his pants tight and clenching his gloved hands into a fist. Taking a deep breath, Lee felt the heat leave his body as his shadow bled up him, a strange highspeed example of capillary action, and then he was off. Hurtling through the streets, Shadowboxer managed in the distance in record time, something his track friends would have clapped him on the back for, skidding to a stop by driving his fist into the asphalt. "Wow. That's…that's worse than I imagined" Nearly every window had been blown out, glass shards riddling the sidewalk like candy after a parade, and he'd bet his book collection the fourth floor was on fire. With a thunderous boom, his guess was proven true as the fourth floor ignited in an inferno. Moving to shelter a young man with his body, Lee's mind raced. That was an awful violent explosion. I wonder if someone's raiding Reaver for some prototype tech? Hoisting the much larger male over his shoulder in a fireman carry, Shadowboxer hauled him to a safe corner, filled with gawkers. "I need someone with medical training, I'm going to try to get people out!" Pointing a gloved finger at an older gentlemen with a graying beard, the teenager added, "Call 9-1-1 sir!' And just like he appeared, he was back in the flames, an ominous rumbling coming from the building. Lee caught the scent of gunpowder through the dust and smoke just as another rumble shook the earth below his feet, and the highrise collapses sending a billowing wave of debris his direction. "S@#$." Pushing his way the onslaught, Shadowboxer stands drumstruck for a moment in the remains on the building, rebar pointing up at odd directions like a broken fence. Hearing a cry for help, Shadowboxer's pitch black frame claws through concrete and glass, until the light filters through the dust to show a young woman clutching a odd metallic box. Well, there's that prototype.Peeling back the shadow from his skin, Lee reaches down to pull her up. "You're lucky to be alive." The woman, a hispanic girl with bleached hair, trembles as he lifts her up. "You need to be carefu…" The widening of her eyes barely gives Lee enough time to twist about and stomp, his shadow leeching off him before erupting into a dark, jagged shield that suddenly is alight with fire. "Now son, you oughta listen real close. You're in my way, and I don't like taking curvy paths. This is your only warning, move or you'll be bootside up in the dirt." That western accent jolted Lee, who tensed up in preparation for a fight. Gesturing with a hand behind his back for the woman to run, Shadowboxer let his shadow pool, ready for anything. Across from him with his ornate six shooter stood Bandit in his poncho and chaps. "Given you've already toppled a building, I have a hard time believing you'll let me live." The gunslinger's lips puckered, the side with the cigar turning upwards. "Yer not as foolish as yah look." As Bandit drew his other pistol with a flourish, Shadowboxer bent his knees before diving sideways while his shadow congealed into a person shaped blob that darted forward ready to slam an murky elbow into the wild west styled villain. Firing a blast of rime that left Lee's back covered in goosebumps as it went wide, Bandit juked out of the way of the shadow's assault before pistol whipping it, the form darting back across the rubble as a two dimension ink splot to Shadowboxer. "Run!" Lee coated himself in black before interposing himself between the woman and Bandit. "Try me kisama, I'll crack your skull wide open." Bandit gave his own vicious grin, pulling back the hammer on his guns. A blasting ray of light interrupted the standoff, as a third figure floated through the still smoke filled air. "Don't try to fight above your weight class Shady, it'll only lead to you getting stomped." Turning his black face, Shadowboxer gave an exaggerated roll of his shoulders and a sigh. "Dawnstar, you're about a half hour late to this shindig." At the remark, Dawnstar, a young teenager with the body of a linebacker floating in a white and gold tuxedo smirked. "Yet I'm at just the right time to save your sorry yoga pant's wearing behind." "They're gi pants you uncultured idiot!" Rubbing his face as if to remove the blight of Dawnstar, Shadowboxer suddenly leapt forward tossing a straight punch as his shadow reached around with a nasty haymaker from the left. Bandit attempted to dodge backwards, only for a deadly blast of photons to crater the ground behind him. "No dodging the angry thug Senior Bandito. You've earned this." Both copies of Shadowboxer made contact, and as Bandit twisted to his left from the haymaker Shadowboxer jumped into a knee, his midnight knee breaking the ornate firearm in half as he backhanded the villain into a pile of rubble. Dawnstar floated down beside him, the tuxedo as flawless as ever. "A little excessive don't you think?" Shadowboxer shrugged, gesturing to the rubble around them. "I'm Buddhist, so it was karma." The two gave each other a longstanding sigh before going to work at the rubble. Just another day in Haylcon city.
Which specific 11th level deed are you referring to? If it's lightning reload, I think it just trims down the reload speed for the attachments like flamethrower/grenade launcher to a swift action, or any unique reload type. When in doubt, I say keep it nerfed down to prevent others from feeling overshadowed.
I was thinking either Experimental Munitionist or Cunning Grenadier. If not that totally fine, I just like the idea of being more than just a gunner.
Very interesting game world. This just screams to play a grease monkey gunslinger type, someone who comes out blasting due to his engineering time being cut off. Out of curiousity, how do you feel about the Multiclass Archetypes? Also, how much can the players modify the airship?
Well, if that's the case I'm gonna submit two character designs to see which one fits better. Granted, these are rough drafts Retiarius:
Backstory-Born in Zaw's Rock to a miner and his wife, Retiarius held his father's occupation in contempt, believing the true measure of a man to be held in the roar and din of battle. Even as child, the young boy was often found brawling with other children and play fighting rather than tending to the ore as his father wished. By the time he had started to grow as a man, one of the more quiet miners approached him with an offer. Leave Zaw's Maw to serve the Dragon in battle. With such an offer, the deal was struck and Retiarius was quickly transported to the front line alongside the Dragon's warriors. There, as he had always expected, he found his calling. Armed with only a buckler scavenged from the dead and a fishing trident he had wormed out of the quarter master, he quickly earned his title of warrior. Using the lightness of his gear he took to bleeding the giants with prodding strikes, and provoking them with taunts.
Personality-The Definition of a braggadocio, Retiarius is boastful and showy fighter, always eager to prove his skills. Retiarius has no concern for honor, and will do anything for the glory of the kill. However, he is quite accustomed to the general warriors of the Dragons army, and the respect is mutual between them. As such he was chosen to serve as a go between the common men and the leaders hand picked by her.As long as Dragon can promise him good fights, Retiarus serves her with devotion rivaling her cult. His brutal cunning and vicious style of fighting has served her well, and lends itself well to insurgency. Appearance-A lean man, Retiarius is still in the prime of his life, and makes sure to show it. The pelts of trophy hunts are woven into his slapdash mix of leather and metal armor and serve to accent his physique earned in combat. His buckler is marred with the marks of the giants weapons. When his helm is off, the young man's face is angular and sharp, giving him an intense air that is only encouraged by the presence of a few scars, namely a scrawling angry mass running along his cheek. However, the energy in battle shows itself in his exaggerated, almost theatrical motions. I was thinking the Daring Champion, or some sort of dex based fighter. Perhaps a focus on disarming. Audgisil: Background-Hailing from the land of Verrath, Audgisil was born under one of the numerous villages that served the dragon lords, living on the border between the tundra and the forests. Following the path of his family, he practiced the magic of old, marking himself with the ancient symbols of powers, sin magic. His family, using an ancient trick of sealing the sin marks in stones, keeping their heads calm Seeking the balance of nature, Audgisil began to master the elemental arts, tossing about fireballs or freezing bolts of ice with a careless whim. At the age of twelve, he was given to one of the lesser dragon lords, Iranos, as tribute. There, his education to magic continued, his lessons often accented with battlefield support. Unlike many mages, Audgisil lived for the frontlines, dodging blades as he responded with bursts of arcane death. For many years he served Iranos faithfully, serving as his magical specialist and right claw man. Due to recent events however, he found himself with a new master, the Dragon.
Personality-Calm and collected, Audgisil is lacking the stereotypical fiery temper or cold hearted personalities of elemental masters. He has accepted his place in the world is to serve the dragons who rule the world, and often works to keep the balance of the nature safe in doing their bidding. His age has him often giving pithy advice despite the lack of asking. In battle, his face maintains the same placid expression even as he burns men alive, or raising a wall of ice to protect the troops under his command. Those believing him to be weak in physical combat will soon find themselves facing a foe more than willing to bury his blade in their guts. Appearance-A man in his mid thirties, Audgisil has the broad and solid constitution of a forgemaster. Nearly every inch of his skin is covered in arcane marks, often glowing as he exerts his will upon the world. His hair and beard are both long blonde affairs, small runic totems and artifacts woven into the strands. I was thinking either a runesage mage or tattooed mage.
I'd like very much to apply, if possible. Human Player-A young man brand new to the DM, he's sarcastic and blunt, and has a habit of lying. Occasionally, small life details leek out which he promptly ignores/attempts to hide. He's fond of shadowy magic characters and strong warriors, and often attempts to blend the two. He'll say he's just looking to pass the time, but seems to enjoy and care about his fellow players. For the pathfinder character, I'm thinking the tattooed sorcerer archetype with either a shadow or starsoul bloodline. He, in his youth, made a foolish deal with the Fae to see the world beyond, and it marked him. Now an older man, he seeks to help prevent the younger generation from making his mistake. Another idea is the sin eater inquisitor, but that doesn't generate as much fluff, and seems sort of strange in the setting. The cloaked wolf also has drawn interest, but I need more background before I can sort it out. Any help/comments would be appreciated.
The idea floating about in my head is a halfing sea master, a small jolly psuedo pirate who's living is made escorting ships about with the aid of his much larger turtle mount. I'm preferential to having a tower shield, but I'm willing to work with whatever. Current class would be probably a bloodrider with an aquatic bloodline as well as a order of the sea cavalier/beastrider. Here's a link to the Giant Snapping Turtle. Sounds great to me! I'm more than happy for the chance to play with everyone! Also, I decided I'll take the die, with 15, 14, 16, 12,13 and 17 for my stats (can't be a pirate without a good tavern voice!)
I'm very interested in the campaign. I do have a few questions. When would you like proof of concept done? Would playing a air breathing race be entirely out of the question? I have a concept in mind (Turtle knight type of seaman) and am curious if it would work alongside. Here's my die roll, though I am a bit confused as to how the interplay between this and the point buy works.
I'd like to be considered for the game. I'm more than happy to play any roles, but I do best with full martial and the hybrid classes like bloodrager and magnus. I have a few previous character's I can rebuild, or I can make a character to fit any missing roles. The posting frequency sounds reasonable. |
