I saw the title "Performance Issues" and thought it was going to be a totally different type of thread.

I had a good chuckle by myself, naming the thread... ;)

There's always pro-active healing... That's what our group has come to call it. It's merely to inflict a ton of damage to the enemy so they are destroyed before they can retaliate... It doesn't always work, though ;-P

Then there's this thing we use, more or less: Variant HP rules by Evil Lincoln and others...

1st character death was back in the red box d&d days...
I played an elf, named Funterlies (Sounds awfully hippie-like, but hey!). Our party had encountered what appeared to be mind-controlled rocs. Funterlies having just drunk a potion of giant-strength (an having a player not fully grasping the rules yet) believes himself to be like a superhero, so he jumps to tear of that mind-controlling devive on the tweety-birds forehead. The only problem is that the roc gets to attack him first and one peck later, Funterlies is no more. 5th level elf, if I recall correctly. Dead, just "beak"ause!

Another one is in the City of the Spiderqueen. I played a monk that was fast and nimble, and he really pulled his own weight in combat. He was 10th or 11th level at that time, I think. Suddenly there's this drow wizard that fires a horrid wilting at us. Everybody saves, but me. Only needed to roll 5 or more, I think. Massive damage! Need to roll 4 or more... Rolled a 2 or something like that... He's dead Jim! Take his stuff! Ah well... then I got to play this one: Ivy

One question that keeps popping up in my head with this lance charging business.... How the heck do you prevent the stickety-stick from snapping, breaking or, when you get past the 1k points of damage, disintegrating? :D

Because it's magic? :P

I ran into this article and at first it seemed sort of, how shall I put it, the normal Republicans and Tea-party are loonies, but as I read on I began to worry. Worry alot. I think this is either the script for a brilliant apocalyptic movie or the scarriest shit I've seen in a loooong time...

You be the judge...

Not for the weak

Let me know what you think!

A gadgeteer type. Builds and modifies small constructs at first, but they can get bigger as he gains levels. He would be able to modify them in some way. More or less like a summonor, only with mechas!

Well... I wasn't overly thrilled about the movie. In some ways it was okay, but I felt it lacked flow. It was like riding a bike with hexagon-shaped wheels. You'd move forward, but clunkily.

Good fighting scenes, good CG, but we kinda zapped around a bit...

Glad I saw it, though not sure I'll see it again...

So sad..

Off topic, but still....

I think that with some users of this board you get the feeling that if you ignore them, they think they have won the argument, which is by itself sort of silly. On the other hand, if you engage them in this argument, they dismiss your argument, ignoring the fact, or, Gawd ferbid, accept the fact, that they may be mistaken or that there are two sides or more to a case.

My way or the Highway. AM KNOWING THE TRUTHEST TRUTH. AM GOING TO POUND IT INTO SKULL OF ALL WHO DONT SEE AM RIGHT... *Sigh*

I think the monk is cool in all the things it can do. But so are the other classes.

Do you ever hear this: "Last night we were playing Pathfinder/D&D/insert RPG game, and I won!". *Shakes head*

The last time I checked this game was meant to be a group-thing, not "One Hero and all his side-kicks" that get to admire big Hero do fancy stuff and we clap and fawn in awe... But again, each to his own.

Condescending replies will rarely help in a discussion. But it's excellent for baiting.

I hold no illusions as to this post having any effect, at all, I just need to say something...

Sorry for the wall O' Text. I know, it will prolly fall for the TL;DR syndrome...

One trick eh?

A Human Wizard who backs up their spellcasting by picking up the *Launch Bolt cantrip, Arcane Strike, and a bundle of MW Durable Crossbow bolts. The ranged attack feat trees work well for both weapon-like spells and your launched crossbow bolts. To further maximize the use of your ranged feats progress as a Spellwarp Sniper as a PrC.

A further bonus is your Alchemically Durable crossbow bolts are also reusable and well worth enchanting with a variety of effects.

Say, that is a neat trick, but where is launch bolt from then? And how does it work?

Okay….

This thread is dedicated to fun and often one-dimensional character-concepts, we could call them builds, since it’s a very popular term these days it seems. Some are straight forward, some are more… Brain-childish, if I can call it that. I’ll begin with a few of my own, and hopefully, You’ll add a few of your own here as well. Just for fun.

I’d like to add that this is not necessarily a question of optimization, a one-trick pony rarely is, it’s more of a quest for the most outrageous modifiers, attacks, what-not you can possibly conceive…

Also, this can be used to find the misinterpretations of rules that leads to exploitation, a noble goal, I’d say .J

Have fun with these:

#1: The barbarian that moves you to bits

Spoiler:
Stats for this example: 7th level Barbarian, Str 20
Feats: Power Attack, Improved Bull Rush, Greater Bull Rush, one free choice
Rage Powers: Knockback, Power Surge, 2 free choices

While using his knockback power he’ll get a +25 to his CMB. Not too shabby, I’d say… And then you could factor in stuff like charging enlarged and other likely enhancements to his strength, Bull’s Strength comes to mind here… all in all a mighty shove….

#2: I don’t have time for all these attacks…

Spoiler:
Stats:Fighter6/Cleric1 with Strength Domain, min. 13 dex and int. oh! And human!
Feats: Dodge, Mobility, Spring Attack, Combat Expertise, Whirlwind attack, Lunge, Improved Trip, Weapon Focus (Guisarme), Weapon Specialisation (Guisarme)

While Enlarged (as per the domain spell) he’ll be able to attack 52 foes in one round, potentially, due to lunge, reach and the bigger size… And to top it off, he could try to trip each and every one of them. If you sprinckle on a bit of Combat Reflexes and give him a nice dex, he’d getan AoO while they try to stand up… That is sort of insane….

#3: Pointy Dagger Dude!

Spoiler:
Stats: Rogue 10, min. Dex 17(but which rogue at lvl 10 haven’t), good Cha, Human! Human!!
Feats: 1) Two-Weapon Fighting, 1) Point Blank Shot, 3) Quick Draw, 5) Skill Focus(intimidate), 7) Dazzling Display, 9) Improved Two-Weapon Fighting
Talents: 2) Finesse Rogue, 4)Weapon Training (Dagger), 6) Bleeding Attack, 8) Combat Trick (Shatter Defense), 10) Feat (Persuasive)
Skills: Intimidate and Use Magic Device maxed out

At lvl 10 the Rogue will have a minimum of +23 to his Intimidate check (not counting in the Cha modifier), and if you for some reason choose Half-orc, which is a viable choice, you end up with +25 but you’ll have to give up Point Blank Shot.
Arm yourself with a wand of Haste and Wiggle your daggers about for a round and most likely everybody within is shaken and voila! You can sneak attack them and with Quick Draw you can full attack, throw with both hands thanks to Two-Weapon Fighting and throw 5 daggers per round. Just remember to stock up on them daggers, you’ll run out of them fast…

These were my three first ponies, hope you’ll add some of your own as well ;-)
